Dear Tango
A Bridge Called Love
It takes us back to brighter years,
to happier sunlit days
and to precious moments
that will be with us always.
And these fond recollections
are treasured in the heart
to bring us always close to those
from whom we had to part.
There is a bridge of memories
from earth to Heaven above...
It keeps our dear ones near us
It's the bridge that we call love.

That's such a beautiful tribute & very apt for one beautiful boy
Run free & happy dear Pete. Thank you for making his last few months so happy Julie & Gil
Beyond The Rainbow
As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.
I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart

I wouldn't mind if you used the money this way. You are not deliberately squandering it & you are doing your best to ensure these dogs safety, if this is needed - then you should go ahead

He's just gorgeous & very lucky you found him

WTG Zipster You are one brave little lad

This is the reason I asked the question. However, on a couple of occasions I have told the rescue I was homechecking for that I didn't think that particular home was suitable and they rehomed the dog there anyway, which did make me wonder what the point was.Last year I did a homecheck & felt that the dog in question was not right for this family, I told the rescue & explained the reasoning behind it. Despite this I was told "She's going to get a dog anyway, so it might as well be from us" & the dog was rehomed there.
The dog has since come back into rescue & whilst I don't think the family are entirely blameless, if the rescue had taken more notice of what I had said, the hopefuly this situation would not have happened.
I realise that the rescue makes the ultimate decision, but I thought they would be guided by what the homechecker told them. I also realise no one can get it right all the time, but I do think this situation could have been avoided.

Thanks. I assumed most rescues would think that way, although I'm sure there are a few that don't
-
Love the pics Cher Nice & peaceful up there I bet
-
Many thanks to all your thoughts on this

Perhaps I am wrong, but my understanding of dog rescue is that it's not only the right home that matters, but also the right dog for that home.
If someone does a homecheck for you & there is nothing wrong with home, but the home checker feels that the dog in question is not right for that home, do you still allow the people to have that dog?
I'd be interested in your thoughts.

ETA: Off topic, but just wondered if the tory voters own large estates (land, not car, lol) or businesses or have salaries over the six figure mark.....I seriously do not understand why any working class folk could vote tory - sorry.
I usually vote Conservative & I certainly don't own a large plot of land, my own business or have a six figure salary - not sure why you think that
How do you define 'Working Class'?
-
So sorry

I'm sorry you seem to be haing such a hard time in rescuing a Staffie
I believe that when the time is right, it will happen & it will be the right dog for you. The other dogs were not the ones for you & the right dog is out there, so please don't give up

So sorry for you Sister & her family, run free Jack
I sit and try to write the words, I want your heart to hear.
Hoping to find some comfort, in the fact that your not here.
I look out into the open field, that you once occupied,
Knowing now that field is empty, because my love, you've died.
I do believe with all my heart, that your soul has gone to be,
With all the other angel dogs, that you were meant to see.
We will have to stay behind, until God calls us too,
So do not be afraid, that he's only called for you.
The water is still, in the pond that you played,
And your bed is so empty, where your pretty head laid.
Our bed is to empty, where you once laid between,
the two people who LOVED you and now only dream,
That one day our eyes will shut one last time,
and you will come greet us, angel of mine.
Until then, I'll keep trying to see through my tears,
with memories you left us, to reflect through the years.
We'll never forget one minute we spent,
of loving and laughing, of places we went.
And I dread the day that your scent disappears,
for it's "proof" to me, Shockie, that you were just here!
But one day will come, when we'll start to see through,
the pain of the moment, and remember just "you".
Now you go and play, and look down when you can,
remembering we love you, and this isn't the end.
