Lesson was great, got another one on Monday. Fell off Phoebz today, was only on and warming up, started trotting and half way round arena she stumbled, went down on both knees and onto her face, I flew straight over her head and nose dived too. Both got up slightly shaken but ok. Certainly woke us up.

Dont care who goes in the house but please get rid of AJ and Rylan.

So so sorry

Rode Phoebe today for the first time in a few months, hurt my back so was taking things easy.
Hack was really lovely and it was a gorgeous day.....no better way to spend the afternoon.
Hopefully heading again on Sunday though car out of action so relying on borrowing my friends.
As regards sharing......I muck out, groom, tack up and generally do the stuff the owner does, as someone else said its part of the fun.
-
So sorry Clare :GroupHug:
Can I ask what grooming brushes etc you all use or what you recommend?
Ive seen Rambo, Cottage Craft, Oster or KBF99, are better quality brushes better than cheaper or do they do the same job?

Ages since ive posted......have stopped going to the riding school and now having lessons at Phoebes yard, instructor that used to teach at the riding school is coming once a week. Last week did a bit of flatwork and some jumping, Phoebe is very keen and I wasnt quite relaxed so felt like a tug of war but we both chilled out by the end. This week we did gridwork, 7 poles curved slightly starting off cantering all on the bounce, then raising alternate poles and ended up with jumps and spread. Really really enjoyed it. She of course is a star

Glad Victoria is gone.

And what happens if your horse isnt happy hacking at the back we'd be off in front of the huntmaster
Maybe next year.

Ouch for YO Sam hope the wine & flowers eased it a little.
Had a lesson on Phoebe on Tuesday, did some grid work and jumping and had a lovely hack today.
Went yesterday to watch the hunt, part of me would love to do it but its not for the faint hearted

Ok very quick reply on H&H......
Tried to figure this out myself but the more I read the more confused I get
I have a VW Passat Estate 2L petrol.....not 100% sure if the box I can use is a 505 or 510 but will it make much difference anyway.
I have a B & E licence.
From the cars manual.....
Weights
Permissable GVW 1980
Unladen Weight 1417
Trailer Weights
with brakes grads up to 12% 1400
with brakes grads up to 8% 1600
What I would be carrying would be a 14.2 (ish) pony at maybe about 400kg.
From those details can you tell me if my car is capable of towing?
Thanks
Trailer unladen would be around 920 kgs (MAM over 2000)
pony around 400 kgs
Towing capacity 1400 kgs (using lowest option)
920+400=1320 so under 1400 = all fine on a B+E licence
-
Brilliant news Gooster
PW the MAM is confusing me no end and is the maximum it can carry as opposed to what you are actually carrying
From the cars manual these are the figures....
Weights
Permissable GVW 1980
Unladen Weight 1417
Permissable front axle load 1020
Permissable rear axle load 1070
Trailer Weights
with brakes grads up to 12% 1400
with brakes grads up to 8% 1600
without brakes grads up to 12% 650
Shall post a reply on the H&H forum as well as see what they think.
Im like this

Had a nosey online and think the maxiumum towing weight is 1400kg. No towbar on it atm anyway but would need to check figures before I'd bother getting one on it.
-
Great piccie Clare, I can see why you couldnt resist
Thanks for the link but for the life of me I cant work out the figures
-
Hmmmmm I think its an Ifor Williams.....not 100% sure though, will see on Tuesday as all being well myself and Phoebe are having a lesson at their yard along with Phoebes owner and her new mare Georgie
If the Passat couldnt tow it my housemate aka best friend aka ex has a Transit van (surely that could tow it ok)

Hacked Phoebe down for another lesson today, flatwork with no stirrups (I know its beneficial but who in their right mind chooses themselves to do no stirrup work)
Think Phoebes owner is possibly going to add me onto their insurance so will save me taking my own out.
Also suggested using their horsebox to take Phoebe for the lessons, save hacking down the road and save nearly an hour.
I have a VW Passat Estate Petrol 2.0L.....should that pull a double box ok
-
Thanks PW
Have just had a nosey on Petplan......they seem to offer more overall but premium is higher.
How much is needed for say Third Party Liability......one is £3M and the other is £10M......big difference

Gorgeous piccie of Blue and well done Clare & Loki
Talking of insurance...ive been pondering about getting insurance through the BHS, it covers public liability and personal accident. Do you think I should take it out?
Brought home Phoebes tack to clean, god I forgot how long it takes though I did enjoy it, also mucked out today which is something I havent done in years, I can see me getting all OCD and going in with Marigolds
Another couple of piccies of us last week in the lesson.
Had a flatwork lesson this morning and were also practising rein back, half passes and turning on the forehand.....t'was fun.
-
Phoebe and I en route to the riding school Really enjoyed the lesson so we're going tomorrow afternoon again.
-
£220 for a girth
Rode Barney Rubble last week in the lesson...holy god he was like a wee steam train.
Was out with Phoebe over the weekend and rode her again yesterday, it had rained though was quite warm so the midgies were out in swarms.....I was bloody ate alive
All being well im hacking her down for another lesson on Saturday morning.
My friend is going down with me....must get him to get a piccie.

Havent really been on in a while, jeez the summer whizzed past quickly
My friend and I headed over to Burghley, fabulous 4 days as usual, cant wait until next year.
Still riding away, owner of yard took 4 of us to the beach on Friday as its a short drive in the lorry, bloody brilliant, one of the other girls got piccies so as soon as I get them shall post one up. I was riding a gorgeous little grey pony called Max as they didnt trust Barney to behave.
In lessons still riding Barney, also hacked Phoebe from her yard down to riding school to join in a lesson. My friend very kindly walked down with me and said he will until im happy hacking her myself. Think she will be ok but better safe than sorry. Also an instructor that used to teach at the school is going to start giving me lessons on Phoebe at her yard, middle of next month so really looking forward to that. Determined to be confident enough to enter an event next summer....thats my goal anyway.
Gorgeous piccie of Blue btw

Thanks, im sure i'll be stiff in the morning but we are both fine. Sure you're on the ground before you know it
Glad you had good lesson and look forward to seeing the piccies.
My hat did hit the ground today, just right at the front edge where it meets the inside padding.
Question is.....should I replace it
Its a Gatehouse HS1 skull cap, only about 9 months old.
