  1. I loved Roar as soon as I saw him. I went to the dog home to walk him every day for a month.

Then we moved into our first house and he was able to come home with us. Here he is enjoying his first afternoon in the garden..

He has had lots of fun, including meeting the Lord Mayor, appearing on News 24 and coming second in RSPCA Dog of the Year 2004 heat (beaten by a 3 legged Sheltie).

Roar-ee was happy to be contacted by his half brother Kevin and arranged an 'emowshunul reyewnion'. Here they are...

Occasionally Roar-ee does drawings and auctions them for charity.

Aside from writing his memoirs, Roar-ee is pretty chilled out these days and mostly relaxes in his bed. Despite his reoocuring corns, he does enjoy his walks and having a jog around a field every so often.

This is the first ever birthday in my whole life that I have had to go to work *sulky sulky*. Having spent my life as either a student or a teacher, I have always been on summer hols, apart from this year... I'm not sure why they changed em. Good news is I checked next years calendar and I will be off again

  4. I am more than happy to do the blog if you upload all your pics and send me the words ( I did see some pics of yours on our photobucket account, but don't know if thats all you want to post  ) Let me know :flowers:

Thanks. I'm afraid I can't remember about the photos. I guess I'd have put them all into the photobucket at once. It was ages ago now so I can't remember much about it. There should be a draft saved. If you think is ok then feel free to publish it or do stuff to it. If not, well prob best to forget it now as I can't remember much of it - sorry.

  5. Hi again.

I've had a look and like thousands of greyhounds, they share lots of relations, such as Bright Lad, Skipping Chick, Linda's Champion and Sandman. There are no parents of grandparents shared though. I'm surprised to be honest because they really do look the same. Milly's photos don't do the similarities justice actually. They look the same when they are sleeping and yes they do have the same big ears  We know Milly wants something when her ears appear from down the side of the settee  The bit not shown too well in the photos is nose/ between the eyes - not sure how to describe it really....

  6. I have had a good laugh at this thread.

if OH doesnt do it for me with his beard trimmer

I'm actually quite surprised that you all do your own trimming and dont have 'help'.

I do. Just hadn't thought it worth mentioning. Does yours deliberatly pull pervy faces to make you laugh (and move)?

  7. Abigail - bikini waxing doesn't hurt that much. I've self waxed, and salon waxed, and salon waxing is much better, as you don't have to sit there thinking 'aaaaagh I've got to pull this strip off now and it's gonna really really hurt', it's not pain free, don't get me wrong, but it's not that bad!!! As for knicks, I just wear my normal ones (last time they were black with pink spots on them!!), and you just pull them out of the way depending on how much you want taken off.

Ta. Will give it a go (honest).

Threading what? I'm not sure I want to look

  8. Have just had an email about it from Greyt Exploitations, thanking everyone for emailing etc. It also said that,

although the coverage still went out, the program was greatly reduced and rather than a live debate taking place, ITV chose to televise a pre-recorded interview.

For those of you who were unable to view the news item, please click here

    http://www.itvlocal .com/london/ news/?player= LON_News_ 15&void=218231

Disappointingly, welfare was not covered but we can draw strength from the fact that and our voices in speaking for the greyhounds will have been heard loud and clear throughout the corridors of ITV.

Yet again, the influential media will now be more aware of the public’s concern and outrage that the greyhound racing industry still receives promotion, whilst welfare issues are not aired, thus presenting a totally inaccurate view to uninformed public.

BBC also ran a small article of the ‘Save Our Stow’ campaign

    http://news. bbc.co.uk/ 1/hi/england/ 7536255.stm

Unlike the ITV article, this gives a more optimistic view on the stadiums reprieve, so it is vitally important to continue to support the current appeals that are aimed at the new developers and politicians.

  9. Abigail I believe it hurts a hell of a lot. My one and only try at self waxing had disastrous results and almost required a blood transfusion, skin graft and counselling  if you;re thinking of having it done, go to a proper salon.

    :mecry:

  10. I would like it all lasered off (funny how I was just typing exactly the same thing in the DP lounge  )

I have legs waxed but hate the weeks inbetween when I have to wait for it to grow long enough. I get ingrown hairs that take ages to grow properly and I therefore spend weeks like a wooly mammoth, unable to wear most of my clothes. Am currently on holiday and spent afternoons on sofa watching reruns of desperate housewives whilst using tweezers to prolong my most recent waxing.

    Armpits are shaved.

Pants parts, well erm shaving is prickly and orrid, removal creams are evil and used to give me a rash anyway, I am too chicken to wax there in case it really hurts (bottled out last week again). I want it all lazered offfffffff noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow!!!

How much does a bikini wax really hurt?

  11. I'm kind of pleased that I didn't notice this thread until now (else I'd have spent the last 5 days of my holiday glued to the pc).

Most people here already know my thoughts about greyhound racing. In brief, having spent 5 years thinking this over, I'm still not convinced it is possible to have a greyhound racing industry without abuse of the greyhounds (commodities) upon which the activity relies.

By the way, there is an URGENT greyhound welfare topic here (don't want everyone to miss it)
