  1. It definitely takes longer, the lighter you are. So long as you are losing, slow but sure is the way to go. It took me six weeks to lose my last half pound last year

Strangely though, whatever size you are, it goes back on just as quick!

  2. Yep. Half a pound away from 17 stone. Just under 15 now and am aiming for 10 stone or thereabouts. I'll be happy as long as I'm a size 12 again.

I have never ever been a size 12mecry.gif

    I am a 16 and would be quite happy at a 14biggrin.gif

  3. Can I ask a personal question pleaseunsure.gif

Were those of you that have lost a large amount of weight heavy to begin with.

The reason I am asking is that I have been dieting for the last 8 weeks and have lost 10lbs which I am pleased with but I would like it to come off a bit faster.

    I started at 11stone 12 lbs and am now 11 stone 2 lbsbiggrin.gif

I would like to get to about 10.5 but at the rate I am going it will take ages to achieveangry.gif

  4. I can't see another vet saying that much different? I mean, I wouldn't put him through surgery as it is quite a long haul ( reading up on this) so I don't disagree with her with regard to this. I was a bit surprised at getting no more pain killers (for when needed)? Or being offered anything else?

Charlie hasn't had another episode since yesterday morning. Longest we've went without one - he had a 1/4 of pain killer yesterday morning and nothing since. The most scary part is when he eats but last night and this morning went well. I hope this is a something which will continue. What I have noticed is that his front paw is normal. Previously his right paw sometimes would not open fully. He is still a bit wobbly on back end although I notice this more when he goes into the garden - snow and hard grass does not help.

I can fully understand that you do not want surgery I put one dog through it but never again.

I cannot understand the no more painkillers bit thoughwacko.gif

In the past I have had dogs on long-term Steroids or Metacam to keep them pain free until the end.

I have never had a Diabetic dog though so perhaps this is why the Vet is hesitant.

I hope Charlie stays happy for a long time to comeGroup_Hug_Emoticon.gif

  5. Hey all,

I may need to help someone rehome their Bassett hound - he's fairly young but has had some health issues and some behaviour problems. I've looked up the breed rescue contact details but wondered if anyone has had any specific contact with them in general, any comments good or bad - please PM me :)

    thanks

I have not had any personal experience as my lot came from independent Rescues but from what I have heard they are usually good and are well thought of in Basset circles.

  6. My Peri menopause went on for 10 yearswacko.gifand the last 2 years were the worse.I had very irregular periods sometimes every two weeks, sometimes lasting 6 weeksohmy.gif.

It was a real pain as I always had to be prepared as I never knew when they might start.

I have now been Period free for 2 and a half yearsbiggrin.gifand have had no symptoms what so ever.I have never had a Hot Flush and feel great.I have never taken any medication Herbal or otherwise.

I am 54 now so I was 52 when my Periods finished.
