  1. However, a vet friend of mine based in West Sussex will now not perform planned surgery on a dog without it having a course of Advocate. This decision was made following the loss of 3, otherwise healthy dogs which 'bleed out' on him on the operating table due to unknown Lungworm infestation.ohmy.gif

It is something I worry about as one of my dogs love to graze on grass and could easily ingest a snail carrying Lungwormunsure.gif

  2.

OH is policing Notting Hill Carnival all weekend - 3x12 hrs shifts  we never get to do anything together on Aug bank holiday because of the stupid carnival.

    Snap!

I have spent the last 6 New Years Eve's on my own with just the dogs for company

Thats what comes to being married to a copper who is public order level I suppose.

You wait till the Olympics. We won't see anything of them at all!! Perhaps we should start the lonley Police officers wives club!

  3. I'm surprised at the way it went, had been reasonably accurate so far but only 2 out of 4 last night. Josie is surely set to win it now. I'm wondering who will appear next week - surely John McCririck will be there, up for BB's funny but usually most annoying ever housemate? I also hope Craig, the builder who gave his prize away to help a girl in need comes back for a chance to "win his prize back"

Craig was on the Michael Ball show yesterday afternoon, which I just happened to have on whilst doing a bit of housework dontcha-know, and Craig did mention something about possibly going back into theBB house.

  4. JUKE HAS BEEN FOUND safe and well.:elefant:

He was reunited with his owner this morning.

He had been picked up by the local Animal Welfare Officer and taken to the local pound. Neither the Animal Welfare Officer or staff at the kennels could get a reading from his micro-chip.

He is on his way to the vet for a quick check and to be re-chipped.

  5. Missing as of 7.30am this morning from Wanstead Park - Juke a smallish, smooth coated Border Collie (from working lines)

Predominantly Redish Brown in colour but with white chest and paws. May have a slight limp as recovering from an infected paw.

Micro-chipped but not wearing a collar.

Elderly owner beside himself with worry!

Both Wanstead Park and Wanstead Flats searched.

All vet practices in area aware.

    All local Police stations contacted.

    All local dog wardens notified.

  6. The Galen thing is, IMHO, a nice piece of marketing. They seem to be pretty good, but its still massage therapy :)

Shame I'm not any closer...though in all seriousness we might be coming past you in a week or so??

I'm glad you think Galen Myotherapists are ok Purple Mog

Although I am horrified to realise it took me approximately 3 years pre-qualification theoretical and practical study, plus further post qualification training in Tissue Injury and Repair, Canine Therapeutic Exercise, and the practical, clinical applicaion of Electrotherapy, Low Level Laser Therapy and Therapeutic Ultrasound just to be a 'nice piece of marketing'

I totally agree with you that no one modality 'owns' this form of treatment and the most important thing for us 'bodyworkers' , is getting the word out there to as many owners as we possibly can, just how beneficial manipulative tfherapies can be in supporting their dogs through certain musculo-skeletal conditions.

And again, I total agree that when dog owners are considering a practitioner/therapist or have been referred to one by their vet, it is so important for them to consider and check the following:

    • What training has the therapist received (some are better trained than others!)
    • Are they Insured?
    • Do they always focus on the best interest of the dog?
    • Do they always refer back to the dogs vet if they are not happy with treatment progress or clinical signs?
    • Do they work ethically and in compliance with all legislation relating to the treatment of animals (it is in fact illegal for any therapist to treat your dog without first obtaining vet authorisation/consent!)
    • Do they come recommended?

I will let Julia Robertson know her marketing is good! She will be so pleased. She spends thousands promoting the cause

  7. If any one is attending Paws In The Park in September, please do come along and say hello!

A team of Galen Myotherapists will be there all weekend undertaking Muscle Balance Assessments and answering any questions regarding Myotherapy.

  8. Ooh, that looks interesting. If there was a practitioner near at hand I'd try that with Az, who is now getting quite stiff and creaky - but Sussex is such a long way away.

Maybe I should buy the DVD and try a spot of DIY.

Hi Cycas, Galen Myotherpists are dotted all over the Country. Have a look at the find a practitioner section on the website.

It is not unusual for me to travel over 150miles round trip to treat a dog that I knew I could make a difference to.

Although I am based in East London/Essex, I will also soon be treating dogs in the North Norfolk area.

    Where abouts do you live?

If anyone would like further information regarding Galen Myotherapy then please feel free to contact me.

  9. Good for you!

Lets hope it works for you.

I have been a non-smoking smoker since 4th Feb. (5 months) following a severe chest infection. I was frightened into it really. At one point, in the middle of the night, I couldn't physically get air into my lungs. Freaked me out a bit.

I didn'y use resonance therapy (in fact I've never heard of it) but used patches and an inhaler for those times when I needed that extra boost.

I can't say I feel any better for it. I still stalk people down the street if they are smoking trying to get a sniff of their smoke  However, the money I've saved is imense.

Wish you all the best Lainey. Good luck.

  10. I hope Holly behaved like the senior lady she is and didn't go chasing those Crows :D

Its good to see her up and about after her op and still winning rosettes! How many is that now??

Glad you had a good holiday Barb. Will most probably see you at Paws in the Park.
