  1. Cannot believe that it is 4 years tomorrow that we drove up to Lincoln to take a look at a big scruffy black terrier with a view to him joining our family, if we all got on! Ed and Polly instantly seemed to like each other and apart from him pulling my arm off whilst trying to walk him down the lane, I knew he was the one for us. I cannot say it has been an easy 4 years, although loads of fun but he has turned out to be a wonderful dog and even if he does not like GSDs or huskys, we can cope with that!!!! He does luvs the greyhounds, so at least we can go to one show every April!!

After we lost Polly Collie Easter we took Ed on his first proper holiday to my mum and dads in Newquay and he took to the beach like he had always belonged on one and even made a couple of friends and even enjoyed his first proper swim i.e. not the forced one when he fell in the canal !!

He is an absolute treasure and is friends with everyone - everyone loves him and he thrives on human company - we did worry that after Polly passing to the Bridge he may miss doggy company but to be honest he is not really bothered. We walk every morning at 5.30 with a lady and her collie called Ben and apart from having a piddling competition, Ed does not really bother with him. Who knows we may get him a girlfriend one day but for the moment I think he quite likes being an only child!!

We luvs you Ed - have a lovely day xxxxxxxxxxxxx

  2. Hope you are both doing o.k.! It will be 3 weeks for me on Tuesday after smoking for over 20 years. I decided to join the NHS club at work and I think it is helping being part of a group. I also look forward to my weekly carbon monoxide reading and knowing you have not had one! My first reading was 17, then 3 and last week was 1. I am using the clear patches and take it off before bed, although have had some cracking dreams!!! So far have managed not to kill anyone, atlhough have come close, but that is probably because I am a villa fan and the other half is Blues!! I am also putting £5 a day in the tin and I am like a little girl again, counting it all the time laugh.gif By Tuesday I will be up to £105!

  3. First day of "stop smoking" today (after 20+ years) and I really thought it would be hell even with using the patches but I can't stop laughing at work and am seriously wondering if they have given me the wrong onesbiggrin.gif

  4. Just had a minor panic - Dad said he would take Pol for a slow amble whilst I took Ed on a big one! Dad went out before me and Ed and we came back 2 hours later and they had not returned ohmy.gif Was just about to go out looking when I had an idea and was right .... Pol had walked Dad round to my best mates pub and there they both were, Pol having cuddles off the customers and my Dad having a couple "on the house"! Must say, Ed was not impressed with being first back biggrin.gif

  5. Morning - hope you have a better day at work Group_Hug_Emoticon.gif I got up in the middle of the night and wrote a list of all the million things I have got to do including an away day in the middle of January for 70 physio's, which I only found out I was arranging through an email sent to someone else yesterday rolleyes.gif

  6. Morning - unknowingly lost 2 fence panels yesterday and amazingly no dogs rolleyes.gif Hope everyone has a good day. Very cold here this morning - had to wrap well up over my pj's this morning during the "early", earlier than normal walk!!

  7. Hi - I have 1-2-1 sessions with Eddie at home and the improvements with him are amazing. Me & my friend are also going on a one day workshop in February with Marie Miller and Sarah Fisher in Bath. There is more info. on Marie's web-site. I think once you have a session or two the books definitely make more sense, well they did to me anyway!!

  8. Better check my ticket then laugh.gif Can't believe 3 years ago today we were on our way to Lincolnshire to just "have a look" at Eddie to see if he got on with Polly and he came all the way back home with us that very same day!

  9. Three years ago this weekend we travelled to Lincolnshire and picked up our beautiful 18 month old boy who although 150% people friendly was not big dog friendly, however, 3 years on he is wonderful dog and has many doggie friends, although still not any GSDS We luvs you Eddie and you brighten up every day of our lives wub.gif

I cannot believe you are nearly 5 years old and how far you have come.

From this power monster who took all your strength to walk on a lead and having to avoid other dogs to a well-adjusted (well nearly) joy to own and my bestest friend! When I lost Alfie 3 years ago, I never believed another dog could come anywhere close to the bond we had but then I never knew the power that my irish dog pound dog would have on our lives.

  10. Thought Eddie was a long time out in the back garden - went out to check what he was up to only to find a fencing panel half way down the garden unsure.gif after a second of mad manic I went into next doors garden and there was no sign - where was Eddie?well Eddie was sitting in nextdoors kitchen having a digestive biscuit and a head rub rolleyes.gif - he did come running when I called him though, so got another biscuit for a good recal laugh.gif

Good luck Owl in finding the dogs and Owlbloke in finding another job flowers.gif

I have to drive to Walsall today for a meeting.

Wished I had of read this earlier, I work in Walsall and could have took you to lunch!

  12. How jealous am I !!

That is my dream too and one day will do it. Went to Majorca last week and had a 2 hour ranch ride after being out of the saddle for 20 years! It was fantastic and I even dragged OH into the intermediate group (who had never ridden!!) and it was the funniest thing ever laugh.gif Two days later and I could hardly walk, although have now rediscovered muscles I thought I had well lost many years ago!!

May have to post a picture of OH in the saddle cause the horse really looks like it is saying - "What fun am I going to have"!!!

  13. I quite like the first bit "Jan" but could do with a new surname ... don't laff it is Dyke and before you ask no I am not - but getting married to the OH would not be much better as he is Stretch, we did think about going double barrelled i.e. "Stretch-Dyke" laugh.gif

  14. Feeling really good, just completed the homecheck and as soon as they answered the door I knew them - lovely family and lovely house and one very lucky dog will be in his forever home tonight :) They had lost their beloved pedigree dog earlier in the year and had found their prospective dog by accident on the net - they did not realise they could find the breed they loved in resuce, so all in all good news all round :)
