  1. Nice walk with our pals although I am a hop-a-long due to this hip problem but at least I got round.

Archie and Mica very kindly rolled in deer poo sick01.gif

Tomorrow we are going for a walk with my auntie Sheila and her dog Dan (anyone remember him - he was an EGAR dog called Anam) and our friend's dog Sophie the Border Terrorist.

Oh and Sophie's mum is granny to Lavinia Swire on Downton Abbey - or I should say the actress, Zoe Boyle, who plays Lavinia. Zoe's here visiting her gran this week.

Oooh! I remember Anam, now Dan, poor lad had a terrible life, I'm so pleased he went to your Aunt, he's landed on his paws there! :flowers: Do you have any pics of your walk? It would be nice to see Dan now.

  2. I cannot believe some of the stuff being said regarding the Lennox case!

The integrity and intentions of some very well respected people are being questioned, not nicely I might add.

Representatives of The Bull Breed Advisory Service and Deed not Breed are being villified by people who know sweet FA!

This campaign has degenerated into one huge slanging match, if only these people could put the same amount of time and effort into the camapign against BSL, it would have been put before parliament and the DDA would have been overhauled by now.

    Sorry, rant over.

  3. and now I've found you

Dunno what happened but you were on me faves list and then our pc got a virus and all emails etc were lost to cybercemetry

Took me ages to find you, thought I had at one stage then just couldnt log on, said I wasnt a member

I know I didnt post very much but I kept lurking in case I could help in any way and to keep up to speed with BSL.

Anyways hope everyone and their furries are ok and I haven't missed too much :flowers:

I've only just managed to get back in, exactly the same as above!

    Hello everyone :flowers:

  4. Pierce keeps getting a recurring ear infection. :mecry:

No amount of cleaning etc stops it, back to the vets again yesterday. Originally it was thought it could be an allergy, but yesterday we found the cause.

His hair grows right down at the bottom of the ear canal!

The only way it can be cleared is by using a scope to open up the ear and very fine tweezers inserted through the scope once its lined up. Poor boy put up with having it removed without fidgeting.

Now for the advice bit.....does anyone's dog have this problem with hair in ears? I did ask if we could remove it, but the vet reckons it's one hell of a problem without the right equipment, even she was suprised how far down it grows!

How do you cope with it? How often do you think it should be removed?

I know he's a hairy little b***er, but this must be so painful for him.

  6. Interesting visit to the vet this afternoon.

She wanted a picture of Nico's eye to show to the specialist rather than refering him right away. Can you imagine trying to take a close up shot of a dogs eye with a digital camera? It took about 20 minutes and around 30 shots, it was hilarious. Everytime she got it focused he moved or rolled his eyes just as she clicked. Nico thought it was a game, in the end bribery with biscuits seemed to work and she got 3 or 4 good pics. Bless him, he did try to be good and sit still while I held his eye open

I'm hoping there is no change over the month and he won't need any treatment, there is no raised area and no discomfort, although it is unusual, it may be fine. Fingers crossed. :)

  7. No news from the vet yet about Nico's eye, so she's not overly concerned, which is good news?

After the events of last week, we now have a spare flight on our holidays, apparently no refunds on unused flights. Does anyone work in the airline industry? I'd like to know if we can use the spare seat as extra legroom and luggage allowance. In my mind if it's bought and paid for we can use it. :)

  8. Thanks for the hugs, very welcome at the moment. :flowers:

My son seems relieved rather than upset and angry now, after 18months with this girl he was prepared to up sticks and move across the country for her. Best it happened now rather than later.

Trip to the vets today gave me something to think about, this is the other load of carp that landed. I noticed something wrong with Nico's eye over the weekend, like the iris has smudged. Asked the vet to take a look and she thinks she should refer him to a specialist. She's very kind and has a friend who is an eye specialist and will describe the problem before referring, but mentioned possible melanoma. :mecry:

Please think no nasties for Nico, I dread the outcome if it is.

  9. Dealing with a relationship break up.

My sons girlfriend has been cheating on him for the last month, didn't like my son getting upset about it, so finished with him.

She was the one accusing him of wrong doing, he hasn't the time to! He's been working over 65 hours a week trying to make enough money for them to move in together, she is unemployed.

I'm seething and can't say anything to him, I know he's been taken for a mug and has been for quite a while.

How do I deal with the bloody emotional fallout and the bloody holiday booked for 3 weeks time?

  10. :GroupHug: So sorry to hear that Blue has gone to the Bridge. xxx

Owl, Maya couldn't have done anymore to help search for those two terriers, Wispa did everything she could and Maya isn't anywhere near as experienced. Like you, I'm thankful they are home, and now their owner knows where they are. I know that you and Wispa are the dogs b*****ks when it comes to tracking! :flowers:

  11. :GroupHug: for Spins.

Actually I may have something to cheer you, do you remember a young Spinone you helped to her forever home? I spoke to her owners Son yesterday and Lady as she is now, is wonderful! Thanks to you she landed on her paws with Spinone savvy people who just adore her, Lady is a very gentle girl who now adores children and other dogs. Nice to hear about a happy doglet. :flowers:

  12. Pierce Grrrr'd his thanks Owl. :flowers:

I hate to be a moaning minnie, but I don't like my new cooker. It's been in my kitchen for 18months and I still can't get on with it! I always had gas, this one has gas rings and electric ovens, it's poo! Cooking just doesn't give me the same pleasure and pride that it used to, I miss my lovely old cooker, it wore out, no spare parts could be found anywhere, so it went. :mecry:

I now have a crap rangemaster.

  13. now look. as a newcomer to harnesses, do you think they could have 'this way up' and 'front' on them as id rather build a flatpack than put a harness the wrong way round on a wriggling dog lol

  Oh Bless you! That has made me giggle!

Yes I do know what you mean, I could do with an idiots guide to almost everything. :flowers:

  14. Jazz, I am so sorry for your loss. Be at peace and free from pain, Mummy Jazz :GroupHug:

I will relate tomorrow what happened at Crickley Hill, which is quite a saga and a bit surreal to say the least. It deserves its own thread. I do have a photo or two of the area to show the kind of terrain we were struggling about in. You will all tell me off for not taking pics of the usual fit guys in uniform who seem to turn up on our jaunts, in this case the air ambulance crew, but when they are dealing with someone who is unconscious after a hornet sting they wouldn't be very pleased.

Wispa wanted to attack the helicopter  daft besom.

Great to work with Corrine and Maya. I am very impressed with Maya who has only just started tracking but shows great promise. She is so focused and thoughtful.

Thank you all for your good thoughts, prayers and Reiki which I am sure kept this tiny mite going for 10 days.

Marge, I am sorry to hear about the tenant, how awful :mecry:

We are very tired with addled brains so will log off for now. And over 700 emails have arrived in my inbox.

Thanks to you and Wispa Phebe, you gave us the inspiration and guidance we needed. Wihtout you two we would never have attempted to try. :flowers:

  15. :GroupHug: Jazz. So sorry to hear of your Mum's passing.

Good news on the little Daxie X, she's been re-united with her family. A lot lighter in weight and scratched badly by brambles, but on the whole in good shape. Owl will fill in all the details when she gets home, but it's a right tale to tell, she and Wispa have done a fantastic job. :flowers:

  16. Could I ask for heaps of positive thoughts today for Owl and Wispa, out tracking a lost Dachshund X in some very difficult terrain?

It's been rather an eventful search so far, but Owl will tell you the tale when she gets online.

    Thank you. :flowers:

  17. I know I don't post very often, but that doesn't mean I'm not thinking of you all.

Some people have having lots of fun and doing exciting things at the moment.....enjoy! :flowers:

There are some who are having a sad and awful time. :GroupHug:

Nothing I could put here will make you feel better, but I am thinking of you and wishing I could wave a magic wand for all the troubles to go away.
