Roxy left us this afternoon, she had been going downhill very quickly for several weeks, getting very weak on her legs, not eating much and today started bumping into things. We decided it was best to let her go to sleep before she started suffering.
She went very peacefully in my arms, having cuddles and roast chicken on the sofa at home and I don't think she knew anything about it. I'm devastated but I think she had a good life with us even if it was only a year or so.
Run free Roxy baby, love you so much.

Alfie, a Saluki/Greyhound cross was stolen last night (27th March) from the Dogs Trust centre in Wickhamford, Evesham.
He is Greyhound sized and a very slim build, black with tan markings. He has short fur apart from feathering on his tail which is slightly curled. He has quite a few scars on his back end. He is very friendly but slightly nervous and may answer to either Alfie or Luke, he was wearing a Dogs Trust greyhound collar at the time he was taken. He is chipped and neutered.
If anyone has any information please contact us at the centre. Thank you!

She's still being awkward with her vetoryl doses (even the smallest 10mg dose is too much now ) but that's Roxy for you!I remember her too, who could forget her poor wee face, fantastic that she's all healed up what treatment did you go for ?In the end we went for the old demodex treatment (panomec) they used before they had the one she had the reaction to, and it worked really well.

Long time no post!
I thought I'd share some photos I took of Roxy today, as I was just thinking how supportive people on the Refuge were when we were going through all the trouble with her Cushings, the mange and her various allergic reactions. I don't know if anybody actually remembers us but here she is (with the rest of the rabble) looking 100% furrier, and doing so much better too! 
And here's what she looked like about 7 months ago...

I've been looking forward to it, read an article in a magazine where he said he liked Rotties and had known a lovely Pitbull as a child.

It does seem strange, not just with regards to greyhounds but dogs in general. At our centre we have real trouble finding dogs that can live with cats (and when we do they get snapped up!). Maybe they're less picky about what is "cat friendly". We do a test with our resident dog killer (Kevin the cat) and if a dog of any breed shows an inclination to chase we won't home it with cats. What we look for is dogs being either indifferent, friendly or scared of the cat and it doesn't happen that often.

I don't know about the other centres, at Evesham we do have foster homes but it tends to be for the extremely stressed/nervous dogs who really can't cope with life in kennels.

Wilbur has been having acupuncture for his hip/shoulder/back pain, and after about the 3rd session I really saw a big difference in him.

What gorguss doggies, especially Cooper! Musy admit I have a soft spot for him, he looks like a mini Ria (but less ugly
)Here's my first boy Wilbur, in 9 years he's never caused any trouble (despite not managing to grow up). And he's the best at that Lab classic, the "I'm so hard done by" look -
He's been such a good boy and accepted every dog I've brought into his home, even though he's ended up the only boy out of four! All the girls love him too, even though he can't always keep up with them now due to his joint problems.
Then there's my little girl Connie, who's made it her mission to have as many behavioural problems as possible
but I still love her to bits. It's not her fault her first owners were tw*ts.
Next came Ria (nicknamed Diarrhoea at work, before I took her home (for reasons I'm sure you can guess) who may be the stupidest, most strange looking and accident prone dog in the history of the universe, but is also the sweetest!
I know I'm always complaining about her, but I can't imagine life without by baby. Well, maybe without emergency trips to the vet at 9pm on Christmas eve...
And finally came Roxy, who knows what I was thinking when I agreed to take on a girl with just about every canine health problem known to man... but she's worth it.
She's settled in so well, with no squabbles whatsoever between the dogs (probably because she came in and immediately decided she was top bitch)
And just to prove they DO all get on (most of the time) and a photo including my long suffering mum who had the bad luck of having a dogoholic as a daughter.-

Sounds like kennel cough to me, personally I would take him to the vet as it sounds like he has it quite badly. At work (Dogs Trust) we use Benylin, just the human cough syrup giving about 3-5mls twice a day depending on the size of dog. If it's bad they'll also sometimes give them some pills (Trib, which I think is an antibiotic) and it seems to work quite well. Hope he feels better soon!

Doesn't it seem more likely that he could have been stolen? I mean if they didn't see him trampoline out of the garden, being a male Staffie someone could easily have reached over the fance and grabbed him.

Definately, my four always get fed their evening meal at 5pm, and I don't know how but they know exactly when they should be getting it and start barking if I'm a few minutes late.
Strangley, Roxy somehow knows when I'm going to bath her, and she runs away and hides. I don't do it at a set time, don't say a particular word, it's quite random really but I suppose there must be something subtle in my body language she picks up on. Maybe she senses me feeling guilty!

Easier said than done, isn't it? Sounds like me... at work when I first started I was told not to try breaking up dog fights. But how're you supposed to just stand and watch?

I can't fathom why anyone would let their dog behave like that - not just for the sake of other people's dogs but for their own, they're risking being reported and having problems with the law. Especially a breed that already has a bad name. Today a GSD ran up to Wilbur my old Lab and grabbed him by the scruff, trying to pin him down. Luckily Wilbur wasn't hurt and didn't react, but I did mention to the girl walking it that if it'd done that to Connie or Ria they would've defended themselves and there would have been a fight. I dread to think what would happen if a dog that size went for Roxy, at her age and health I don't know if she could cope with it.

I have the 4gb Zen plus and it's really good, lots of space and easy to use. Bit annoying having to recharge it from the PC though, so I just bought a mains charger for it.

I also think it depends on the circumstances... Connie wears a muzzle whenever she's out of the house, and I let her offlead with it on in quiet places as she has a good recall. I don't let her offlead in busy areas just in case, you can guarentee someone will let their dog come charging over whilst yelling "It's OK! Mine only wants to play!".

I recommend Party Feet gel dealies as well, they save my life quite often.

Thank you so much everyone, all your comments really mean a lot to me.
Ria is quite depressed still, she was the only one who really seemed distressed when we let the dogs in to see Roxy afterwards, she's a sensitive dog and she and Roxy loved each other. 
I know it was the right time, and I know we did the best thing for her, I just miss her so much. I keep seeing a little piggie shaped gap on the sofa.
