    Shadow

Hello..... On Sunday we took Shadow's ashes to Dumpton Gap, the last place we saw Shadow running...... I scattered his ashes on the beach and in moments the tide had come in and the waves were washing them out to sea.... He's going to be all round the world in no time!! Goodbye Shadow..... whenever I see the sea I know you're there! ;-)

    Shadow

My friend Shadow, a true gent, has passed away on Easter Monday at 6.30 from liver failure. He fell on Sunday and was being treated in Canterbury for a suspected dislocated knee. Susie and I were driving home to Sandwich after our second of four to the vets on the Canterbury road. It was 9.30ish. As we passed Wingham Wildlife Park in the sky to our right we saw a falling star. We didn’t realise it had made a space for Shadow for the following night. When he shal die Take him and cut him out in little stars And he will make the face of heaven so fine That all the world will be in love with the night And pay no worship no the garish sun I will miss you Shadow, for evermore my dearest friend…….. Shadow was the first greyhound that Claire and I had the fortune to share our home with, he started our knowledge of how beautiful and loving they are and how cruelly they are treated. Because of him 13 greyhounds in Andover were rehomed when a trainer went out of business and then later when we took over White Lodge Boarding kennels we started a greyhound rescue, which became White Lodge Longdogs and with the help of many people we went on to rehome over 350 greyhounds and lurchers a handful of mutts and 3 kittens. I hope all of those greyhounds and lurchers have inspired people to help with their plight so many more have been helped. Gary
  7. I understand that chocolate, wine and new shoes appear to help! ;-)
  8. That was pretty thoughtless having the greyhound off lead without knowing she had any recall.... Shadow who will be 15 in May has finally been allowed off lead after many years of being to quick to be trusted before... poor bugger struggles to get round the house nowadays. Mind you he can still trot off pretty quickly when he sees another dog he likes the look of or has decided he's had enough and heads off home... he's back on the lead in no time, just in case. ;-)
  9. Hurray polyp has gone! But having a CT scan on March 3rd to see if I need more surgery? There is a danger they may find my brain too..
  10. Just found this ad for a mobile phone company ;-)

  16. Hi Sam, Most of my stuff is in a garage down the road at the moment and will have to stay there until we find a house to buy.... Found a nice Art Deco house on the beach at St. Margret's Bay where Noel Coward and Ian flemming lived, while he wrote some of the James Bond books. As it's too small and has no garden we decided not to buy it.... oh yeah and it's £800,000!!!! http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-977...=1&tr_t=buy Click on the pdf document!
  17. Thanks for your comments.... Jack has discovered Moles (the ones that dig holes) in a place called 'Glazen salts' ( I have no idea what that means either) and Shadow has 2 new greyhound girlfriends living in our street, less than half his age, tsk tsk! lol They only visit once every couple of weeks tho. probably a good thing too! That's not the nearest beach but you have to walk to that and Shadow can make it there but may not make it back in one go, this one goes by the really attratctive name of 'Dumpton gap' it's much better than it sounds..
  18. Hi everyone, hope you're all doing ok? Just in case anyone wants to know.... thought you may like to see how Shadow and Jack are doing... ;-) Jack loves his bed. Shadow now 14 and has lost his marbles a little. Both doing 2 mile walks, Shadow stiff and wobbly and Jack zooming about on his 3 legs!!! The beach...... Susie flying Jack Susie and Jack stood on Shadow's head.. hehe.... Oh we're doing good too!
