  1. The wonderful Lloyds decided to take over £700 out of my bank account just before Christmas and just before my mortgage payment went out, leaving me with nothing for food etc. As result my mortgage payment bounced (mamanged to pay it later on luckily). All because I had missed two payments earlier in the year which didn't add up to the amount they took out.

It took a while to get through to them on the phone that they had left me with nothing and to give me some money back. Luckily I got paid early for Christmas so had another wage going in about two weeks after this happened which I made sue they didn't get.

I am now well away from that bank, just wish I had done it sooner!

  2. I grew up on Enid Blyton books and loved going to the library and gettign new books out. I also wanted to go to one of the boarding schools in the stories. I am sure Elinor Brent-Dyer (a fellow lass from South Shields!) did some boarding school stories as well.

    A Level English was:

    Hamlet

    Richard II

    Jane Austen's Persuasion

Wuthering Heights - Still my favourite book

    Faustus

    Chaucer's Wife of Bath's Tale

    Wilfred Owen's War poetry

Watership Down was a favourite along with Secrets of Niamh (think that was the name). Loved the Borrowers too! :flowers: My sister had some of the Brian Jacques Redwall series which I liked reading when she wasn't looking.

  3. Excuse me while I scream! AAAAAAAAArRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHH!!

I just spent the last hour and a half doing tesco online shopping and fecking virgin media went down and I lost it all!

I can't even be bothered to go and do it all again but I dont have time to go and DO the shopping either. :mecry:

    Rant over.

Going to read back and chill out (until the fckg internet goes off again)

Hopefully, Tesco's will have remembered what you have popped into your basket and it will be just a case of addign your card details. Something like that happened with me and I thought I would have to enter loads of shopping plus a few vouchers again but it was all thee when I managed to get back on. :flowers:

  4. Ive just been very bored waiting in line in the bank. It would appear every pensioner in the area wanted to draw out their pension, transfer money to other accounts and tell the cashiers all about their grand kids. I was not feeling too tolerant when I went in, and i was all for culling old biddies by the time i got out

Well I got a bus home yesterday that every pensioner in the area wanted to be on as well. Nearly missed my stop fighting my way past them down the bus. Had one of them repeatedly shouting in my ear about how the bus said it was going to Peterlee when it should say it was going to Sunderland. She was totally missing the point that the bus goes onto there after Sunderland which she woudl have known if she had bothered to read the bus timetable directly in front of her. I must make a note of the bingo finishing times to make sure I am never in that area at the time again.

  5. I've got two of George Adamson's books and in one of them, he talks about Christian, how he was introduced into the wild and the time John and Ace came back to see him.

Boy was one of the stars of the Born Free film. I've got the video, the books and also the DVD about the later time in George Adamson's live (Walk with Lions) where he is murdered.

  6. Suzeanna have you tried searching using different spellings of the name? Liddle, Ladle, Naddle etc.. And using wildcards to search too? If you want you can PM the details and I will have a look too :flowers: Sometimes someone else will turn things up. I know it's happened with me a time or two when I have been tearing my hair out and then a genealogy pal has searched and hey presto!

This has happened to me too: Brenen spelt as Brennan, Brenan, Branning etc and Battram spelt as Buttram  I suppose it is hard trying to decipher the writing on the census records at times.

The Church of Latter Day Saints website link was reeally helpful as well as managed to get some baptism details and exact dates of births for some relatives. :flowers:

  7. Each animal has their own blue A4 envelope type folder with all their information in and their name on the front. Well the theory is that all the info goes in there but I keep forgetting to put Max's vet receipts in til I come across them months later.

  8. After waiting for half n hour in the freezing cold for a bus to work on New Years Eve morning, I came down with a cold. Since then I've felt like I have been hit and kicked all over. Very very nasty cough which won't shift. Feel sick each time I cough and feel like can't breathe when coughing. Have spent the last three 3 days in bed with two duvets and a fleece on (plus four cats) and have still been shivering but my face was boiling  The cats have had their uses by trying to keep me warm but I wasn't impressed when Max decided to knock the bedsise cabinet over at 2.30am on Saturday! Haven't been able to sleep at night so was watching some DVDs in bed when he attacked the lamp and pulled everything else over. If they are not doing that, I have getting screamed at for not feeding them NOW or being jumped on when they are play fighting. Poor Suki is being very understanding at the fact she is getting much reduced walks at the moment.

  9. Hi

Sorry I'm a bad mam and forgot to charge up the camera to take any pictures :mecry:

Suki was really excited and happy to see her presents, thank you Ingipops and Keelah. She has been munching on her food already and will be enjoying her squeaky toys when I am out of ear shot

As I opened Suki's presents first, the cats soon lost interest and wandered off (they are a baa humbug lot!). They popped back when I started to open theirs and thank Phoebejo and family for their lovely toys and treats. They are going to be in heaven with all that cat nip they will be sniffing and playing with! :D

THanks again for organising this :)

  10. I think I would like to go back and see some of my ancestors, to get a more personal histroy of their life. My great x 3 grandmother came from the Orkney Islands and her husband from Cumbria so would like to know what attracted them over to South Shields to live.

I would like to meet the Brontes and Jane Austen as well.

  11. Willow, Maddie, Tasha and Max are totally oblivious to the fact that their Secret Santa parcel arrvied today. :)

Have bought some Santa sacks so can hide the presents in there til Christmas Day in case they try to open them before.

Thanks Cheryl and Sarah for organising this. :GroupHug: I don't envy you doing this.

  12. Picked up Suki's parcel today from the Post Office. As it came by recorded delivery, I had to sign on her behalf. :D Our sorting office is open til 7.30pm this week as well all day Saturday and Sunday afternoon so got loads of time to collect things. :)

  13. That's one of the reasons I dare not have candles in my flat. Can't have them on the mantlepiece either as the cats would getthem especially Max with his huge tail. The main reason I don't have them is I would forget to put them out when I went to bed.

Edited to say glad to hear Caffery is ok and not bothered by the incident.

  14. Alfies mum Peachy

    Purple Mogs Hector

    Madisons Cats

Your SS may or may not have had one cooking sherry too many whilst parceling up your presents. You may open the outer packaging as everything is individually wrapped inside. However whilst parcelling it all up he/she has managed to lose a dvd that was being sent back to Lovefilm. If you come across this could you be so kind as to pop it into the nearest post box?

    :biglaugh:

Oo don't know about that. The cats might think it is an extra present for them and want to watch it first.

If it is in with theirs, will pop the dvd into the post asap.
