  1. The idea of freecycle is great, but today on our Coventry are Freecycle, two rabbits mother and daughter have been rehomed. I will mention it to my fellow cat fosterer friend who is one of the moderators. She is very good and normally gets in touch suggesting homechecks etcetera. With Freecycle items must be absolutely free. Some rescues have advertised on there for items for the animals, such as old towels, blankets and leads and collars no longer required.
  2. Clik on this link to see Wolfie and his girl friends Wolfie and Friends Album Here are some recent pics of Wolfie as he settles down to his new forever home with us. Thanks for all the good wishes and help we have received in connection with his journey to us from Ireland Graham and Judith
  3. I would get the Mum to the vet now. She may well have an infection, let the vet do the investigations. He can probably tell by just taking her temperature and examining her. He may also be able to advise if any of his local doggie patients have recently had a litter, the puppies need some food, as they will easily become dehydrated and weak. Go sooner rather than later - go tonight. Good luck!
  4. Hello Folks I have had to "double up" in our sitting room with foster kittens. Guess its that time of year. I collected 4 kittens 3 weeks old and their Mum, took them to the vets for a check etcetera and across to Bedworth to one of our other foster ladies, someone had a "whoopsie" just before I got them there! It wasn't me, and I had left Graham at home! I also, with the help of my husband, (slightly shredded after tring to catch/cage Guinness) took a young 11 month old cat to be neutered. We cannot say if he is the Dad of the kittens, or if Mum was mated with the local long haired tom from the back of the house. Graham is now trying to redeem himself with Guiness who now will be weighing a few grammes less! I have to ask - do you fly, only with the aircraft in your pictures! Judith
  5. Thanks for your welcome! We have two spayed gsds. One is a "worrier" and eventually aquired her Kennel Club Silver a couple of years ago. It took a long time, she is a champagne coloured dog and is scared of lots of things. She is better off the lead in a lot of circumstances. Within the last year she has got used to not being scared of cardboard boxes that we bring in the house! Her friend/part related cousin, is totally different, much mor like a lab, she obtained her Kennel Club Puppy and Bronze at about 15/16 weeks, she is also a lot whiter than the older one. We do have two cats of our own, who are allowed out, but not at night. One is a 2nd hand Turkish Van from Wellcat in Birmingham and the other is a long haired femalel all black, we always have to have a black cat, as no one seems to want them. Milly came in to the Coventry Cat Group and I bent under pressure from the family to keep her. So she was duly vaccinated and microchipped at our expense. We also have a stray who comes and goes, we have had her neutered and microchipped, but I think Milly scares her, so she comes goes down the lane to our local farm. We have fostered 2 - 3 litters of kittens this summer. We have found homes for all, except 2 which my older (22 year old) daughter and her fiance are adopting from the Coventry Cat Group. I work hand in hand with other members in the group, but work closeley with Angie who posts quite often on the Cat Chat forum. Dogs now gone to the bridge Keeshond, Samoyed, Bernese Mountain Dog, Newfoundland (Landseer), poodle and Sheltie and our present dogs the two white gsds. We have had dogs for over 30 years, we have done a little showing, once at LKA and twice at Crufts, a little basic obedience work and of course classes with them all as puppies and teenagers. I have had horses previously and actually took a teaching qualification in that, so you see I think I prefer animals to some humans, and certainly looking after them than housework! Our youngest child is 9 and was with the animals since day 1, as he was born at home along with 3 of his previous siblings. Hope to be of some help to someone soon. We have a large high quality Barjo indoor kennel if it is needed.
  6. I have just joined this forum with a view to doing a little fostering. I already (should say we because naturally the whole family is involved) foster cats for the Coventry Cat Group and am deputy fundraiser. Have noticed how bad the "pound dog" situation is and want to help. Thank you for my welcome. I am based in Coventry, West Midlands on the Birmingham side.
