  1. Eileen (the founder of FOA) has requested that we finish the auction on Monday at 9pm rather than on Friday to fit in with the people who are going away for the weekend and had said that they couldn't bid for items  soooo.....4 days to go!!!

All funds raised will go towards our very large vet bills

The auction is open for viewing now so please do go along and have a look. You will need to register to bid but it only takes a couple of minutes

  3. Especially for Lee (rayie's mum :) )

Last week I spotted an ad for a blind and deaf, 1 year old border collie, being given away for free. I was worried as to where she would end up, so drove a 10 hour round trip to collect her.

    Please meet Mabel

Once home, we realised that she has some good sight on the left hand side and can see furniture and objects, but when something moves, she can't follow the path of where it is going. She has been kept outside all her life, living with a lot of dogs and cats. The house had multiple litters of puppies, and Mabel has many dog bites on her.

After being here for 4 days and is getting use to living in a house  she is now clean in the house (including at night), learnt that kitchen unit surfing is not a good idea and that all furniture is only in the house for climbing on

Unfortunately we aren't in a position to keep Mabel, we have contacted the Dog Trust to see if they can offer her a rescue space and I am awaiting to hear back.

  4. I would do it. We brought 3 dogs over from Cyprus in 1995 and one from Bosnia in 1996. Jack (from Cyprus) is now 16 years old and lives with a family that we know. Paddy (from Bosnia) is 12 years old and again he was rehomed once out of kennels. He came over at just 8 weeks old and did 6 months in quarantine and came out fine and very happy boy.

The two others, coco and guiness, lived with us until they both died aged 12 years old. We picked Guiness up at just 3 weeks old and Coco when she was a year old. We could never have left them behind.
