  1. It was lovely to meet you too and your beautiful dogs. Sorry I didn't get chance to say hello to everyone, as I did rather get stuck in the arena! Elliot is such a super little chap, not phased by the crowds, appearing in fancy dress or being upturned and snuggled by our judge Nick Mays Someone will be very lucky & soon I hope. Todd with his nose in the hole was hilarious Great to see some famous fugee dogs for the first time like Bumpy & Dolly, Ruby and of course to be reunited with Super Snatchee aka Spiderman. Wonderful too meeting some of the people on here - especially people like WendyBert who have helped me out with homechecks in the past who I'd only "met" by e-mail until yesterday. It was very emotional as shy Evan who won Best in Show was my last foster dog and at the end of the day I adopted Hobie my current foster boy. Just a bit tired now, but still smiling!
  2. Best I can do for Sat Nav users is pub (White Horse) in Welton Village - NN11 2JP - probably about half a mile away I'm not local either so apologies I can't do better. Field is just off A361 from Daventry towards Rugby
  3. Lovely to hear you are all joining us. I seem to have landed myself the job of compere so please do come up & say hello. There are bound to be lots of people at the show who know each other on forums but have never met so I will happily introduce anyone. Also if you have a stall I'll give it a plug - a few words that you'd like me to say, just written on a bit of paper will be a big help. See you tomorrow
  4. All Andy's dogs are lovely. So sorry to read this tragic news. Run free Hugo. Please send our very best wishes to Andy at this very sad time Liz, Patrick & the collie crew x
  5. Happy Gotcha Day/Birthday Snatch. Will he be gracing us with his presence at the Wiccaweys show this year? Oops sorry, you editd your post as I was typing this. He's coming to the show - fantastic!!!

That's a lovely tribute Wendy. I don't think you should worry about how much of her heart she gave to you because you have her back a big piece of yours in return. I reckon it was a fair and a happy swap
  7. Run free Shep. So sorry Di
  8. It's one of the threads I always look at when there has been an update. Each time I always hope the news is good and I rejoice whenever I see one of the long staying kennelled dogs has found a place in rescue. I'm particularly sad when I see the old dogs come into you. To me this is exactly what forums like this are here for. I admire what you do and, having been involved with rescue since 1999, in one way or another I appreciate some of the challenges. Like many others, I can't specifically help you very much - I do what I can elsewhere by helping Wiccaweys with organising homechecks and fostering and am usually fostering an assessed dog from there. Maybe I can do a little something extra today and find a prize for your online auction at least. There are times I'd love to post and congratulate you on success but obviously that is not what the thread is there for.
  9. I'd try VIP - specialist pet insurance brokers & let them shop around for you and come back with the best quote. My 3 are insured through VIP. I've had several claims, no dispute and settlement in a couple of weeks.

    Pembrokeshire

Dogs are allowed on most of the other Broadhaven. We were at Little Dumpledale only last week (our 2nd visit)

Lindsey - they needn't worry. Whitesands is one of the very few Pembrokeshire beaches that has a total dog ban. Most do not & some that do have a ban on part are so long it really doesn't matter. We are just back from Pembrokeshire. From St Davids, Newgale is not very far - that's a really long beach behind a a huge pebble bank. They need to check the tides tho - not much beach left at high tide. There is also Broad Haven & smaller bays or if they want to drive a bit further there is Newport in the north, Broad Haven South, Barafundle & Freshwater West in the south & many, many more
  12. £22 Kym especially wants that pudding! He is 22 remember - this could be his last chance to dine out Who could deprive him of that?
  13. Uncanny resemblance to Sarah from Wiccaweys!!! £3 to adorn her grotto shop
  14. Good luck Lily. Misty's surgery was the standard type and she stayed overnight but she was still incredibly sleepy and not herself the next day - I postponed her well-wishing visitors. The following day though she seemed a lot more lively. Misty wasn't sick during her operation - despite starving before the op, there was a bit of an explosion from the other end! Once home she did eat, but she didn't pooh for nearly 48 hours, possibly a mix of the drugs and the fact it was not comfortable to do so. I hope another 24hours brings a big improvement for Lily. Meanwhile, thinking of you
  15. Is that dog in the picture really the 22 year old? Thank goodness Wiccaweys is still alive & well in Northants - who else would have taken a 22 year old?
  16. Have a word with Sarah & Paul - this is a common problem because Sheena is following her natural collie instincts and probably thinks she is doing a good job! If she is not nipping you in this way I'd agree that is because she is seeing you as her leader. Therefore it is down to you to take charge and make it clear to Sheena what behaviours you are happy with and what you are not. I definitely wouldn't shout and reinforce any possible excitement but would try a firm "no" and calling her back to you. If necessary, I'd go and retrieve her, get her to sit down and wait. I've had this problem with foster dogs in the past and using a lead indoors enabled me to get the message across quickly.
  17. I think this is a first time foster home I checked for you not so long ago. Lovely people. If someone from the Oldies Club is speaking to them please send them my condolences. I hope they will be okay and able to foster for you again when they are ready. Liz
  18. I bought Black Dog head collars at Crufts. They are really great - wide but soft webbing straps, very adjustable so as not to rise up into the dog's eyes, easy chunky clips to do up/undo quickly. I'm impressed! These are available from http://www.petperfect.biz/onlineshop/index.php if you are interested - if you quote PPWWYS as you check out they give 10% to Wiccaweys too.
  19. Everything crossed for you both x
