  1. Aww - look at that innocent little face..........
  2. Yup - that is the biggest worry! Still flat out but she did manage to rouse herself enough to eat a bowl of fresh chicken which is a great sign! She has also managed another wee and poo so all is well there.
  3. Just got her home and settled! She is a bit groggier than the vets would like but as this is probably 'dog recovering from aneasthetic no 20 or so' that I have had to deal with they have let her come home. She is very very woozy but has already managed a wee and a poo which is excellent news and has 'allowed' me to feed her a few mouthfuls of fresh chicken. Her wound looks nice and neat so is now just a matter of keeping her quiet for a few days! Yeah right!!! The odd thing is that she is currently sleeping it off in Logan's crate! Heidi is never crated but she literally asked to go in there and when I opened the door she just toddled straight in and lay down. She obviously realises it is the most peaceful spot where she can be away from Logan. Logan is trying very hard not to be too bouncy around her but is so excited to have her home that he is struggling to contain himself! Will just leave her snoozing in the crate for a couple of hours now and then she can have some fresh chicken for supper. She was also a very good girl for the vet's and the nurse said she was an absolute pleasure to deal with. So thanks for all the good thoughts, they have certainly helped and I am just hugely relieved to have her home safe and well.
  4. Heidi has not come out of the aneasthetic as well as they had hoped and is still more or less flat out but otherwise is doing ok. Have to ring back at 5 to see if I am going to be able to bring her home. Unless they are 100% happy they will want to keep her in overnight to monitor her. Am a bit concerned but trying not to panic yet!
  5. Yes - but only 'cos you got caught trying to murder him in the first place!
  6. Heidi was a very good girl in the waiting room which I was delighted with as there were two other dogs there and she is very dog aggresive. She did have two little woofs but soon settled and behaved herself. She was not a happy girl when I left her - her poor face was a picture of confusion! Have to ring after 2pm to see how she is and will hopefully be collecting her around 5ish.
  7. My GSD girl Heidi is off to the vet's shortly to finally have her spey op. We have had a couple of false starts so far due to her erratic seasons but finally seem to have got the timing right so today is the day. Good thoughts would be much appreciated as, like all of us, I will be worried sick until my girl is safely back home with me and me and Logan will spend the whole day wibbling!
  8. Am so pleased he is doing well now - give him a huge hug from me.
  9. Still loving it after lesson number 3! I must admit the thought of finally giving it a try terrified me but now I really do wish I had not wasted all these years. I know they often say it is harder to learn as you get older but I am finding that the fact I am older means I have much more self confidence than the average teenager and that really helps. Reached the dizzy heights of 50mph today which was great! Have also been working on 3 point turns and parallel parking which is not as tricky as it sounds when you actually try it. Still got a long way to go to get everything more co-ordinated (I tend to forget what to do with my feet when steering lol and vice versa) but can quite clearly see that I am progressing with each lesson. Is masses to take it but little bits suddenly seem to click into place and I am determined to succeed so will stick with it for as long as it takes. Was a great thrill to drop myself off at work after todays lesson as well! For anyone trying to pluck up the courage - find a good instructor who makes it fun and take the plunge! I am honesly loving every minute of it.
  10. If it was me I would simply tell the company who are providing them that you are not happy with their work ethics and to get shot and replace them - as you are not in a position to performance manage them save yourself the hassle and get rid. I do this regularly with our agency staff - I will speak to them once and once only. I will log that I have had to discuss their performance with the agency 'manager' (I use that term loosely as I swear he is only 12 years old and he has absolutely no idea and is an arrogant little s*** to boot). If they take the p*** a second time they are gone. Is hard enough managing my own staff without having to spend excessive amounts of time sorting out agency staff.
  11. Well done Hayley!! I will be hvaing lesson number 3 tomorrow - am loving it so far!
  12. I have ordered items from Hong Kong/China through ebay about half a dozen times (not doggy stuff though) and to be honest have never had a problem with them arriving and being as described.
  13. Are we talking about front or hind dew claws here? I could be wrong but I would suspect that Cher is referring to hind dews when she says they should be removed shortly after birth. My Logan has hind dew claws which fortunately are very loose so as yet have not caused him a serious problem but I have seen some horrible injuries to hind dews and do agree they should be removed at a very young age in breeds that are not suppossed to have them. Dew claw removal is, in my understanding, quite a 'big' op in an older dog and the recovery can be quite painful so unless they were causing frequent problems I would leave well alone.
  14. About time I joined in this thread I think! After years and years of saying 'I must make the effort this year' I have finally plucked up the courage to book my first lesson! Am now 40 so is not before time! Am absolutely terrified at the prospect so lots of positive vibes would be appreciated - lesson is booked for 2.30pm on Tuesday 27th, gulp!
