If he was really suffering depression then I feel certain that would be one of the last things on his mind. He is trying to guilt trip you, don't fall for it. Mark

It has been a brilliant weekend I want to say thank you to Wendy, Kelly and Mary who came up to Milton Keynes and organised and operated the Dogstar Stall, they raised a fantanstic £370 pounds Your company over the weekend was brilliant and it really was a pleasure to have you all stay. What you managed to do with the stall and what you managed to raise was terrific. Noah says he enjoyed running with the labs :-) but now he just wants to sleep XXX

  13. I know we have not been around much recently, we just have been very busy. A quick update: We have completely redone our website including a new downloads section. For now you can download posters including the "I am a dogstar dog" ones Take a look here These will soon be available in a limited edition full set for you to purchase :-) Samantha as well as doing all the usual Dogstar admin things has managed to find time to do this Video (dont know where she finds the time) We have also been trying to arrange a 20 day project with two other groups in Sri Lanka. This is in the final stages now and fingers crossed we can announce it soon. We have had Mo over on a visit from Sri Lanka, we have met up with Canine Life Support in London to arrange a major fundraiser for later this year for both them and Dogstar. I dont know where all the time goes, the website took ages of time. Its not just the pretty pages its all the background things to make it all work (fortunately Sam has become a techno whizz). Trying to arrange anything in another country remotely is a nightmare but such is our life :-) Anyway, we are still here :-)

  16. It’s nearly 3 years since Sam's last rabies vaccinations and in that time she has handled, held and restrained hundreds and hundreds of unvaccinated animals all without incident. Until the other night...... So its more than a bit bizarre that she has found herself having to get a rabies post exposure booster the other morning due a local cat that literally launched itself at her the other night whilst she was having her dinner, all teeth and claws and leaving 2 open wounds on her hand. Think of a group of half a dozen people sitting around the dinner table and whoosh, from out of nowhere Domino appeared and dived under the table and Sam put her hand down to protect her feet! Domino (the guilty party) is pretty much a feral cat, over the last 6 months Sam has been 1 of only 2 people that can pick him up and then only for small periods. Because of this and his ability to hide whenever a vet visits he had not been rabies vaccinated (most cat owners are aware of the inbuilt vet appointment radar cats have). This coupled with his aggressive behavior meant that she was not taking any chances and went though a full wound wash and clean procedure and then because she did have not access to iodine and to the abject horror of the bar staff she proceed to wash the wound again with neat alcohol, this was Arrack the local whiskey!!! The following morning after Sam had taken a back a post operative dog to Dr. P for a check up she went to a local hospital for the first of her boosters. Sam will then be on the look out for Domino with her rabies gloves on and a crate as clearly his uncharacteristic aggression could be caused by illness or even rabies and he needs to see a vet as soon as possible. The latest on this is despite, Sam and helpers chasing, they have not yet caught Domino. So think of the keystone cops running around and I think you will get the picture. The hunt continues..... Domino has to be caught and checked by a vet or at minimum be observed for 7 days, this will then indicate if Sam has to have more jabs or not. She already has a bruise thats a dark as the black hole of calcutta from the first post exposure jabs, so fingers crossed she will not need more. Even though we vaccinate 100’s of animals locally each year it never pays to be complacent in a country where over 50 people a year are still dying from this vaccine preventable disease It costs us a couple of pounds to vaccinate an animal here, less than a price of takeaway coffee to literally save lives. Sam is joking about this with me over the phone, but I know from her tone of voice she is a bit worried :-(
  17. The executive commitee and trustees of the Dogstar Foundation would like to say to one and all, happy new year 1133431? As of this morning the number 1133431 is the registration number of a new uk Charity. Dogstar Foundation Registered UK Charity Number 1133431. We recieved confirmation this morning and we are all very pleased. The refuge is the first place to be told publicly, as you all have given us so much support and help since Samantha first employed a vet to treat Mango in 2006. We have greatly appreciated that support over the last few years, at times it would have been easy to have given up. However in the darkest of days some of you provided the encouragement or the support that kept us going. So thank you...... Needless to say Samantha has a smile the size of the sun over in Sri Lanka currently. It does make me think that having been validated and accepted by the Charity Commision has made all the sacrifices worth while. Its been made worthwhile by knowing and seeing some of the 1000 animals that have been sterilised, and some of the 1700+ that have been vaccinated. What I mean by sacrifices is: For a long while Dogstar was funded just by Samantha and Me. Samantha and I spend lots of time apart and it has caused us to row at times. The pressure to "do something" that is felt when we are in Sri Lanka is sometimes a bit over powering. The stress of organising the larger clinics, locations/vets/medicines etc can make you want to pull your hair out. So its not without its troubles...... I as Mark, am so very pleased for Samantha. Dogstar was her creation and I am so very very proud of her :-) And as I said to the refuge towards the top of the ramble "Thank you one and all" Mark
  18. We are aware that there may be some parcels waiting for us at the dogstar PO box, however: Due to the weather conditions and dangerous roads, car problems and the fact that Sam is now has to leave on Monday (some 3 weeks early) we have just not been able to collect them in time. We are also having a few internet issues with lost connections etc too :-( I will get them during the week and sort through as I should be heading out towards the end of Jan. We do appreciate all those who have sent things out to us, thank you :-) Mark
  19. Thank you so much for this, we really appreciate it :-) They are fantastic cards
  20. The man who on a Saturday afternoon read out the football scores: Chesham United Nil, Wycombe Wanderers Two What did you want to be .........
