  1. Glad things are going well with Phoebe, we must be over due some pics Finally managed to get out to a lesson yesterday, was lovely to be out again and we enjoyed ourselves, as I've missed a couple I am treating myself to another one on Saturday, before the Christmas madness falls (but hopefully not snow!) There was an awful accident on Saturday where three riders out hacking were driven into by a drunk driver, two horses were pts at the scene and the third is being treated, two of the riders were taken to hospital, one was 13yrs old. How on earth does someone ever get over that happening, poor poor horses and riders
  2. Oh wasn't expecting that! Thanks
  3. Naughty Blue! Glad he managed to let off steam safely and hopefully now back to his usual self Good to hear Wanda is sound, hopefully when the shoes are sorted things will come together I'd go with your gut on the medication, have you looked at the herbal route for treatment? Hows Milo now CP, staying where he should be?! Loki is fine, physio gave him the all clear on Monday didn't even need to treat him so really pleased. Getting a bit frustrated with life at our yard as the school is old and not maintained it seems recently its either frozen or flooded, you can't ride on the track as it's more of a trench than a track, which is fine as don't rely on it normally but not helpful when trying to work on lateral stuff when I could do with the assistance of the fence. I actually rode in the field yesterday as had day off work and the footing was better than the school. Also a note has now gone up saying we are only allowed to jump in the school on Sundays because she doesn't want to harrow more than once a week, we have already been banned from lunging in there and can only jump at all if the school isn't too dry None of us jump much or great heights so its a bit frustrating especially when I need to practise and Sundays don't always fit in with my plans, sorry rant over
  4. Oh no and I can't find it anywhere online either Ah saved by Merledogs
  5. Ewww I'm not sure whats worse Well done CP, what a star Milo is, he definately loves his jumping Hows everyone doing in this weather, the river has broken its banks and our fields are sodden and the boys very bored already which is never a good thing I wish I was a lady of leisure so I could bring in at lunchtime, I guess we have been lucky last few winters and had it quite dry, spring seems a very long way away right now!
  6. Ooh how exciting, congratulations I've been really bad and given into the temptation and bought a Micklem bridle, have been looking for months for a 2nd hand one to come up but nothing has, my rationale is that it will sell for a good price 2nd hand as loads of people are looking for them if it doesn't suit Loki!
  7. Is it BCA this weekend? Loki is still on easy after his antics in the field, physio did a lot with him as was very sore behind and he has been on 10 days walking straight lines only, can start to get going again this weekend then a recheck in a couple of weeks so won't be jumping him before he has been checked again, he feels fine so hoping he will get the all clear, me on the other hand has matchsticks holding open my eyelids this morning after three mornings in a row getting all my jobs done and hacking before 8am
  8. Well actually if you read carefully I think it was two regular donkeys, one giant one called Ms Ellie and an elderly pony Sorry to hear Wanda is having issues, she has always comes over in your posts as a firey, strong, full of life lady, so its very sad to hear she has lost her spark, hope the physio can make her comfortable and she can enjoy a nice retirement if the time has come for her to hang her dancing shoes up Blue sounds like he is going amazing Gooster and now you have your shinny new wheels will you be going out to some dressage soon? Im sure Milo will be fine with a couple of classes CP, where were you planning on going?
  9. Poor CP will come back and find we have filled her field with two donkeys and a pony
  10. Oh yes a donkey what a good idea, although I think you will have to get them in pairs but that wouldn't be a problem surely
  11. What a good idea, drastic yes but when you think of what could happen if he got out then worth doing as surely he will only test it once and then stay where he should be.
  12. Oh no Thats for the loss of the partner rather than the celeb
  13. Oh bless him, how calm is he for a 4yr old Loki's fine now thanks, just need to get the saddle sorted and we will crack on again, after my week off for a cold and his week off I am feeling motivated again. Have a saddler coming on Thursday who is also a FEI 2* dressage judge and trains with Carl Hester so I am a tad nervous about riding in front of her! CP your Dad can't have a 4x4 and not have a tow bar with a daughter who has a horse, its against the rules Sounds like if you could persuade him then all your travel worries would be sorted.
  14. Wow that horse is stunning LouiseBT, do tell us more! Banner is so clever Well done CP and Milo, one day dressage the next jumping no hands, what will be next
  15. Having decided to get the vet, Loki was much better last night and this morning, so after speaking to vet decided to see how he goes over weekend, Im going to go for a little hack in the morning to see how he feels. He ate all his hay, picked his feet up normally and was very full of himself this morning so hopefully he is on the mend Good luck for 5pm CP you'll both be great, look forard to hearing all about it!
  16. The wound doesn't appear to be bothering him there is no heat or swelling and I can prod it without reaction, but he is reacting to prodding about 6 inches above that near the stifle, and having done some research it would seem there are quite a few ligaments around there. Vet hasn't seem him I spoke to him yesterday and as the wound wasn't particularly near the stifle and he wasn't lame he wasn't worried, but I left a message for him this morning saying that actually he seems sore on the stifle rather than the wound and could he come out before the weekend. Good luck with the dressage tomorrow CP
  17. Thanks Not sure what to do really, he is no better no worse, I spoke to my vet last night and he said he should be back to normal within 5 days if just bruising, he was happy that the wound was far enough away from the stifle to not be too concerned at this stage. After speaking to him it got me thinking and I proded the wound and got no reaction, but if I prod near the stifle I definately do get a reaction so now I'm worried the wound area is not causing the soreness. So this morning I though I would lunge as sure he would be hopping lame and I would then get the vet, but he wasn't lame as such just not bring either hind leg underneath him and dragging his toe a bit on the leg he has the sore stifle. Of course five days takes us to Friday evening and not sure I want to wait until next week to get it looked at if not better by Saturday. Why are things never simple with horses!
  18. Aww poor Banner, glad you got her warmed up and that Wanda is feeling better, even though you might not appreciate how she is expressing it! Enjoy the dressage CP you'll both be great Good to hear Blue is doing well and sounds going better than ever Poor Loki came in from the field beaten up yesterday with two nasty wounds on each hind leg, looks like he has got cornered as one definately a kick but the other is a puncture so think he has been pushed into something, by the time I got there he had been in a fews hours and really stiffened up and looked very sorry for himself, stuffed him full of arnica last night and think its has done its magic as he was no worse this morning. Hopefully just bruising and he will be looking better in a few days.
  19. Oh no what a shock PW, hope you can get it under control for them both CP how about taking off all the neck and then come down in a kind of high trace from the wither so he basically has most of the hair off but leaving some on his back and quaters so he has some protection from the weather when he sticks his bum into the rain? Thats what I did for Loki a few weeks ago as didn't want to take everything off before we went eventing in case he got cold standing around and getting washed off. I normally do a very high blanket clip as don't like leaving his back muscles exposed but last year it was so mild I ended up doing one full clip then high blanket after that. I tend not to be too precious about how he looks I just take the hair off the areas I feel needs to come off rather than doing a conventional clip
  20. Thats great news Where are you hoping to go? 1. Its amazing how many points are lost through not being accurate, hit your markers and you are guaranteed a decent mark 2. BD rules sometimes mean you need a bridle number but not always so might be an idea to check. Obviously no boots for the actual test but you can warm up in them 3. Not much just go to the secretary on arrival, book in and collect your number if there is one. Also on arrival to warm up find the steward and let her know you are there 4. I normally leave an hour, 30 mins to faff around and 30 mins to warm up, but its really what works for you and Milo so it might take a few shows before you find the perfect formula. Most importantly have lots and lots of fun
  21. Hehe no neither can I, it always confuses me Perhaps ask the car manufacturer what its maximum towing capacity is and then go from there, as its easy to work out the trailer / horse weight.
  22. Wouldn't like to say re towing its a bit of a minefield and I think lots of people I see at shows are towing illegally! As Gooster said I would think possibly not especially if its an Ifor 510. This is a really useful thread that might help you http://www.horseandh...ad.php?t=490195 Couldn't resist buying this from Twesel
