  1. Clare I am really really sorry. I know that Lady was very well loved and she always looked so happy. She was in her element when I saw you over the park and you could see the big smile on her face! She managed to fall on all four paws when she found you and Michael and couldnt have been more loved. Run free Ladybird.
  2. Thanks. I will have a look at Healthspan as I get their Glaucosamine and Devils Claw from there already.
  3. Alicia, don't envy you the teenage stage with Ruby! Owl, have fun with your fencing! Gosh you two know how to live it up. The excitement must be unbearable! Kelly, I hope you can get your shoulder sorted. And one for Jules too. Alex, turn your phone off and dont log onto your computer then people can't hassled you on your day off! Hubby said the rain sounded like horses galloping on the roof! I didnt hear as was in training session at work again! Marge, I think your ailments are down to stress! I do hope you are feeling better soon. I had to work over again tonight. We are having a new computer system at work (well reimplementation and upgrade) but across the whole company instead of just finance. As 'System Admin' a role I got dumped with on top of my finance role, I have to attend all training sessions, meaning three full days just this week and countless others over the coming few weeks. There is only me in the department so I have to try and do my full time job in the time that I have remaining as well as do a full test on our part of the system! Plus make up for the time I have had with MIL and day off for funeral next week. I wonder where those Wonder Woman knickers went to!!
  4. Fee, thanks. The link doesnt work but I have heard of Prodogs. Thought they were a pointy organisation. I will look them up. Lester, thats the difficult part. I could pass the details to local rescues (to him) but if only one then that restricts her homing possibilities and if more then could be wasting their time.
  5. Can anyone offer advice please? I have been asked to try and rehome a GSD girl. Her dad isnt very well and can't cope with her, but he does love her and wants to rehome her from home not kennels. Some might remember the flatcoat pup I asked about a few weeks ago. Well he went and was returned within a few hours for being bouncy so now dad has decided Freya would be more suitable to rehome as Flatcoat is very calm at home and his girlfriend can cope with him along with her dog! I have met her and she is lovely and very amenable, well trained, spayed etc, 3yrs old and looks healthy. I would have had her like a shot if it wasnt for grumpy Neo. I love GSD' and she has such an adorable personality, just loves her cuddles. She is said to be child friendly too but I havent tested this so would say no young kids as she can get pretty bouncy. The only visitors she has now are my friends who have been helping out with walking her so she gets very excited by visitors. Her dad did say that she likes to be top dog but is pretty calm about it and has been very good with the pup (he is about a year now I think). She is also tennis ball obsessed so makes for easy training if necessary. So are there any rescues that do rehome from home rather than kennels/foster homes? Going to be a difficult one I think but he will not rush her going until he gets right home for her.
  6. @ Mags dream. Sam, you sound really excited about shopping! Good luck with the job. Hope all goes well and you dont get too homesick. Alicia, you don't half know how to live it up! What colour is new purse? Kelly, well done on fostering poor dog. I hope he has a new home very soon. Owl, very sad news about the staffy you were searching for. What a coincidence you bumping into the one you transported. Its nice that you can see what their life turns out like when you help them on their travels to a better life. We are having 'Will' hell at the moment. You know when there is money involved and there is always one family w@nker that takes the p*ss nad helps themselves! We havent even had the funeral yet!

    Riley

It must be so hard for you Amanda. I haven't had to deal with that situation myself as our pets have gone in their sleep. You will be feeling the full brunt of his loss at the moment and the fact that you felt he was fighting won't have made it easier. Not sure what to advise about your feelings hun, but he won't be lost in the dark. He is now resting and no longer suffering. Run free Riley
  8. Sandi, I am so sorry for your loss. Billy, thanks for posting this. I hadnt seen it on FB. I have just done my two but generally they only get one dose a year in the spring. I do now wonder if it could be responsible for Saffys skin complaint which we had linked to swimming? But thinking about it, she only goes swimming when the weather gets warmer and therefore they get flea treated. I think I will give it a miss from now on and see if it makes a difference to her skin. Anne, what garlic tablets do your dogs have? Is there a special dosage or something?
  9. Sam, have a fabulous time! Hope you don't miss the family too much. Oh and don't forget camera and charger. Alicia, did you find your letter? Good luck for you scan tomorrow. Sandra, it maybe that the other dog started the fight, it just happened that Glen came off better. If he is well socialised and used to lots of other dogs, which I get the impression he is, try not to get to hung up on it or he will pick up on your tension. Might be worth a vet trip in case he is carrying an injury?
  10. Well I have fallen off big style today again!! I have eaten three..... yes three cakes today!! Sugar cravings got the better of me again!. Back to work tomorrow so I can keep away from the fridge and try to eat healthier.
  11. Clever Sandra Alicia, will your mum have someone with her? There is lots to take in on these meetings. MIL didnt remember half of what she was initially told so we arranged another meeting with family present so we could explain it to her again. I have really bad sugar cravings today. I don't normally eat much chocolate but ate half a bag of mini cream eggs from an Easter Egg (hubby had the other half), now I am trying not to eat the egg too!
  12. Nope! She is always that dim!
  13. I do have new squihsy beds for them too but they hadnt arrived in time because of the Bank Holiday
  14. Jayne, just caught results on FB
  15. It it as we bought it. I think they had recovered it to sell it. Sure it won't stay so lovely for long with our dogs! The 'dog bed' is actually a small table and two bench seats that converts into two bunks. Think the dogs prefer this layout!
  16. Alicia, that is the reason MIL GP wouldnt prescribe Morphine. They had to get the hospice to do it as they are more experienced with the drug. Won't your mum be elligble for care in the home? MIL had the option of care home, hospice, Night carer with three day visits for personal care or live in carer with day visits. She opted for the Live In which was actually cheaper (for the NHS) than the other options. Maybe you need to speak to her social worker and find out what help is available?
  17. As promised... caravan pics better late than never. Does Saffy look comfortable? Excuse rubbish photos of dogs. They were taken on mobile in the dark van.
  18. Nige. Glad to see you back and could do with your good news! Alicia, sorry to hear your mums legs are worsening. We talked about doing exactly the same and converting the lounge into a bedsit for MIL but she ended up in hospital first so it never happened quite like that, though she did have her bed downstairs. Did you get her meds sorted? Sandra, absolutely love the second photo. Great idea and I am impressed that you got them all to stay still for long enough! Sloppy lick received I know I have forgotten someones post... brain is addled! Hubby had a call from his brother this morning about sorting MILs will out. FFS, she isn't even cold yet, never mind not having spoken to her solicitor or have a funeral organised. He is just bothered about the legal costs involved and wants to do it all himself. Money grabbing fecker!! Had another two bits of bad news over the last couple days, one of which is my boss' dog Millie was PTS on Friday as her cancer got the better of her.. Run Free Millie RMF, I went to the Gap show and bought a new muzzle for Neo and two bones, one for each of them which they muchly appreciated.
  19. How exciting!! Jazz, sorry to hear that you have been having dog troubles this morning. Hope it all settles down now. Alex, that was scarily close to his eye! I hope he isn't too sore. Give him a gentle kiss on the nose please and tell him he is still handsome. Debating what to do today. Might go to Gap show but not sure if I am in the mood. Need to get a new muzzle for Neo so might be easier. Decisions decisions.......
  20. Thanks Jayne. Will look for the app tomorrow.
  21. Thanks everyone. Ingi, hope you feel better soon I havent worked out how to post from my Iphone yet! Julia, you also need a pink laptop I can understand people wanting the Kindle and similar but I don't think I will ever have one. I think that part of the fun of reading a book is the feel of them and being able to turn the pages and the individuality of each one in cover, size etc. And what about books of the future? There will be no more books to pass down through history I think its quite sad really and hope its not the demise of the existing format. How exactly do you know where you got to when reading an electronic book?
  22. Alex, how did your study go today? I hope you didnt have an afternoon snooze there! I would ring the police if the noise goes on after pm. Are there not any other neighbours that are affected? I knew there was something else I meant to buy today! All my work trousers are too big or had it now! Alicia that did make me laugh! Saffy would have snaffled the lot before it hit the floor! Murtle, only hubby had the mixed grill, I am veggie. He did enjoy it though and my mushroom pasta was rather delicious too. We went to the allotment today after not having been for about 10days! OMG! The weeds have taken over. We spent a couple of hours trying to find seedlings in amongst the weeds. Serves us right for rushing into planting seeds I suppose.. Have now started some of in pots in the garden.
  23. Thanks, we are OK at the moment. Its a bit unreal as with the Bank Holidays everything seems weird as we can't deal with anything. Taking hubby out for dinner tonight for comfort food.....mixed grill! Saffy appears to have lost her name tag while we were away. I have just found a spare one but only have one for Neo. Looks like she will have to be a boy until I can get her a new one (or three) as she is prone to losing them!
  24. Hubby still has to tell the rest of the family and kids yet so please no one mention anything on FB. Not looking forward to that one bit!
