eve
Sorry haven't commented much past few days, sister is in hospital after having seizures - luckily my cousin had gone round to take her for a routine GP appointment and found her having one. She's on the mend now but still a way to go as she had a bleed on her brain after hitting her head during one of them. Her son and my cousin are trying to get the council to move her to a warden assisted flat asap before the hospital send her home but those wheels move exceedingly slow and she had to give written permission for them to act on her behalf despite barely being able to read and write in her current condition. Ah well, at least the process has started. Hope Lewis is enjoying his adventure Jazz and you get lots of pics and emails keeping you involved. How awful for your daughter's friend Suzeanna, hope she's coping as best she can. And well done you for being so strong over the past 6 years. You've been so brave and inspirational through it all. Hope your roof repairs do the trick too. Didn't realise you could get white pulis Owl. You teach me so much lol. My grandparents had a black one in the 60's which they gave an unfortunate name you'd get the jail for nowadays. Wasn't meant maliciously, just the ignorance of the times. More thoughts for Yantan and Ruby, you and Tye were so lucky to have each other the last few months, think you all got as much out of it as each other, and when your hearts have healed a little bit hopefully there's still some room for the right old boy to share a space in your life xx

griff
Eve, so sorry to hear of your sister. I am sure there already is but from my experience, hospital social workers can be a great help...they managed to keep my uncle Anthony in hospital longer than was needed and got him a place to stay, she was brilliant... unfortunately, he decided that he didn't want to pay the £2.50 a day for food so went back to dossing on people's floors and sleeping on the street

suzeanna
Your sister is having a bad time, Eve. I can't believe how stupid officialdom can be, insisting on a signature from someone who isn't physically able to give it! Day three of the tablets and I don't know if it's them or a coincidence but I'm having terrible trouble staying awake, my eyes just want to shut. I've taken down the voiles from the bedroom windows and cleaned the windows, and now I just want a nap.
griff
Suzeanna, it might take a few weeks for your body to adjust to the side effects and to be fair...I would be knackered doing that anyway lol
owl
So would I. I did get out today to do major stocking up of food for myself and Wispa. Tomorrow looks awful with rain and snow so unlikely to go anywhere. Back to hibernation. I also walked round to the cemetery to see how much of my leylandii had come down over the railings in the storms. More than I thought, but I can trim most of it off with loppers and if I do that it won't get in way of people walking on the adjacent path. owl
Eve, puli colours are black, white, grey and fako which is a kind of fawn/apricot, often with a black mask. Some pulis used to be black and white like some Tibetan terriers as well, but they were bred out in favour of solid colours. Among the black ones, you can have rusty black or black which has a bit of grey in it.
suzeanna
Are Komondors the same colours as Pulis, Owl? I remember seeing them when we used to do a lot of showing, but I never see them around these days. Impressive dreadlocks!
Jazz
morning all sorted out my duvet covers, so many I don't use, then got some more lol they can go to the charity shop tomorrow after my blood test. ive cut everything out so im more boring than usual. my tests here are lower than before which is good, but if they expect me to eat like this forever they have another think coming its ok out there have a safe warm day xxxx
owl
Suzeanna, komondors are only white as far as I know. I don't know if they ever produce a melanistic. There are still some around but as they are such a specialist breed because of their temperament and need expert and sympathetic handling, few people (thankfully) want to have one. They are also nocturnal as they have done the night shift guarding flocks and herds for many centuries, which can be a problem if you have close neighbours. owl
Tis freezing here. I did get out in one of the dry spells to tackle the fallen conifer. I couldn't deal with it from my side as it has fallen across the hedgehog zone and end of garden, which always has gate locked to deter intruders. I have lost the key to the padlock! So had to do as much as I could from the cemetery side. Lopped off most of it, and the remainder will not get in the way of anyone under 7 ft tall. A friend was in a panic as her son's chickens were marooned in south Notts. The chook house was up on a high mound and they were safe and dry, but no one could get to feed them. Eventually a young man with a boat agreed to help, and he has taken them enough feed to last a couple of days.
suzeanna
Hope the chooks will be ok, Owl. There doesn't seem to be any let up in the weather, the forecast into March is more of what we're having! Completely depressing. Sadly it looks as if the loss of Tye may well herald the loss of the Refuge too. Both Yantan and Griff have gone very quiet, though no doubt they are in touch with each other. At least most of us are on Facebook so we can have some point of contact!
