Thank you both, the situation is somewhat complicated...Steve is Mercott's biological son, Steve's parents split when he was about 4, Steve went to stay with his dad at the weekends and when Steve was about 7, he just didn't go anymore.... mercott had met a woman who couldn't have children and didn't want Steve around. Steve didn't hear from him again until Steve's ex Joanne spotted him in town ( she had seen him in the paper) Steve walked up to him, said do you know who I am?? No! So Steve said who he was but the guy couldn't get away quickly enough.... somehow, Steve got back in touch with him, was asked up to his house and was then told "say you are a family friend... don't say who you are" turns out that although he couldn't be bothered with taking care of Steve....he had taken on a foster daughter...we now know it's 2!! Steve just left, then he called the guy in error and mercott says... don't worry, I haven't forgotten you! And started saying he was going to get him back in the family etc...never happened. Then Mercott's wife Ann died, then he begun trying to contact Steve and Steve blocked him as he said now she is gone, he thinks he can have me in his life.

Basically, if he died without a will, as Steve is his biological son, he would be legally entitled to everything, however, I think they will just keep the lot themselves and that's most likely the reason he was never told about his father's death. Yantan looked ann up and her will wasn't online so hadn't been through probate?

Sorry, bit long!

Suzeanna I am holding out for the doctor being wrong! If not, you do research your condition really well so we can all be sure you will make an informed decision on your treatment. Positive thoughts are being sent thro the ether to you from my end anyway.

I haven't said anything here, or anywhere else for that matter, but there's things awry with my biological father's will. I am due something from it but I cannot say more than that for now. However the legal sorting out of it all might take up to 6 years! Griff I hope the same won't be true for Steve.

And just as we were due to call in the estate agents next week a nasty water stain has appeared on Ruby's bedroom ceiling after last weekend's storm. It'll have to be sorted before we put the house up for sale. I'm starting to wonder myself if we'll ever get moved.

Marion I hope you get a shed load of cash...you totally deserve it!  Hope the roof is cheap to sort

Crikey that's quick Jazz it'd take me at least a month just to decide what clothes I was taking!

I didn't get round to doing the form today....maybe tomorrow

Exciting day today.  I was sitting drinking coffee in the reserve cafe today watching the lake through window, when a water rail popped out of one reed bed and scuttled into another one. So fast, blink and you would miss it. This is the bird I have wanted to see all my life!  It's become a standing joke as there are loads on the reserve but they all avoid me. I arrive minutes after someone else has seen them. I have heard them in the reeds making their odd squealing call, have waited ages but no chance.

Anyway, I suddenly saw it, jumped to my feet ... and sent coffee mug flying, drenching everything including the cream fleecy lining of my jacket which was on a chair. The staff were very understanding and brought mop and paper towels and fresh coffee.

I soaked the coat in cold water when I got home and think I have got it clean. Now in washing machine.

well im in a bit of a pickle. I pull the skin off my eyebrow and round my ears, stress I suppose. The skin on my fingers are splitting (keep up) and now ive got sores round my mouth. I didn't have any savlon cream, so thought id use hand gel. so sprayed it on my fingers, to put it on my mouth, it went in the cuts, so silent screams lol

Eek Jazz, I'd be screaming aloud, never mind silent. No wonder you're stressed though with Lewis leaving on Monday. Hopefully he'll be back before you know it.

That was exciting Owl. Looked up water rails and they are very reclusive so pleased you managed to see one. Their calls are really weird though lol. Hope the coat survived ok.

What a sad story Griff. Poor Steve. He's lucky to have you looking out for him and fighting his corner.

Hope the problems with your father's will don't take 6 years to resolve Yantan. And that your leak is easily mended.

Continued good thoughts to Suzeanna. You have to make the right decision for you but we're all rooting for you.

Also good thoughts for Blackmagic - if you ever pop in for a browse we're thinking of you too.

And hello to Merledogs and Loobie, hope you are well and your occasional visits become more frequent again xx

Wow, Owl! How exciting for you, shame about the coffee though.  Has your jacket recovered?

Jazz, I've never tried it but the adverts for O Keefe's hand cream say it will fix your hands or your money back.  Might it be worth a try?

Eve, I'm sorry I didn't say at the time how awful for you to see your sister in such a poor situation, I've been selfishly mired in my own head.  Good thing your cousin is there, but if your sister has to be moved to care of some kind, can she afford it? Are there places near your cousin so she'd still have a visitor?

Hope the water leak is something that can be quickly and cheaply fixed Yantan.  My daughter had something similar and it was one tile that had slipped and was letting water seep in.  It was easily sorted and despite all the rain last weekend they haven't noticed anything else.  I'm trying to remember how long it took for probate after my mum died...think it was a couple of years, but her will was completely straight forward, her cottage and contents to me, some money for my children and any further monies from stocks and shares to me, nothing to fight over!

The clinic I went to yesterday was the chemo clinic, it felt odd..surrounded by women either with no hair at all, a light covering, or wearing turbans! I probably looked the only healthy one but ironically the one with the worse condition! Dr. Sivoglu's secretary made me the appt but neglected to tell him, so he didn't have my notes but he still saw me, thank goodness.  He agreed with the consultant that did my ultrasound that the neck stuff is probably connected to the cancer, said there's no point in a biopsy.  He begged me to start taking the Anastrazole, so I will, starting Monday.  He said come and see him again in four weeks to see how I'm coping with it and if I intend to keep trying with it there's another new drug he wants to give me.  He wrote it down but I can't remember what it was as it was letters and a number, not a name.  I said I'd never heard of it, and he said no you won't have as it's new and very expensive.  I can give you it now but if you wait, I won't be able to (strange!).  He did say I really want to treat you, you are young (I sniggered) and really nice. (more sniggers.) He said he has patients in their late eighties, in his opinion, I'm young!  Shame the mirror doesn't agree with him.

Yantan, if I try to read back, I'll lose this lot.  Has Ruby had her check up yet? If not, hope all is fine.

Nice one Owl 👍

Ruby's off to buy a car today. She's narrowed it down to a Citroen C3, a Mazda and a VW but I forget which models.

She's favouring the C3 purely on the price. She gets a monthly allowance in lieu of the company car she's giving up but doesn't want to spend it all on the purchase price. She needs to hold something back to cover insurance and maintenance.

Another storm blowing in for the weekend. Deep joy.

Yes blackmagic Eve is right, if you are looking in we are thinking of you xx

Suzeanna Ruby had her 6 monthly scan on Tuesday and goes back for the results two weeks from the scan date. Her remaining kidney isn't functioning at 100% so she needs to make more adjustments to her diet and drink even more water than she does. Its lovely of you to ask especially with your own situation. We both hope the medication makes a difference for you. It sounds like you have a really nice specialist.

Suzeanna, properly chuffed you are going to try!! There's probably a timescale of time he can prescribe the new drug for it to be effective. Enough nonsense about not being young!! Age is but a number my lovely xx

Yantan, the C3 , Peugeot 106 ..I think and a toyota are all actually the same vehicle so might be worth checking who is offering what deals...how long until she has to hand her current car back? New ref's come out in march I think so she might be able to get a 2020 instead of 2019 or snap up a deal for them clearing out stock.

Fingers crossed for a good result for her scans and I hope her kidney decides to start playing nice
