suzeanna
Owl, it couldn't be seasonal canine illness in your friend's dog, could it? This is the time of year for it and it does affect dogs walked in woodland.
griff
I thought the same Suzeanna..i don't take mine through the little spinny by us at all now as I worry about Alabama rot and seasonal canine illness ( that's the mites one isn't it?) suzeanna
Yes..they don't know what causes the Alabama rot but the sci is mites. Candy is walked on pavements or grass..we don't have woodland near us. Makes you think you should kit them up in coveralls and boots!

owl
Tiga spent the weekend at CaniX in Cannock Chase. No canine seasonal illness ever been recorded there but I did ask Jenny yesterday if vet had considered this. It is a hot spot for Alabama rot, but Tiga has no lesions. Had paws washed after being out each time. So far it doesn't look like either of these, and they have also checked for adder bite which can have similar effects. suzeanna
Someone had put on FB the other day of a little cavalier who died after eating what looked like mushrooms but were actually deadly. He doesn't nibble stuff at all does he? Rosie was a terror for grabbing things and eating them including chewing gum and snails!
owl
No, Tiga does not scavenge and is always on a long line when out. Many beagles eat whatever they find whether it is edible or not, but not Tiga. He is not a young dog any more so it's worrying.
owl
Latest from Jenny is that Tiga is still at vets but she is on her way to see him now.
griff
Have they ruled out meningitis SRMA ?? Delaney had SRMA
owl
It will certainly have been considered as beagles seem to be prone to it. Jenny's old beagle went through that.
eve
Everything crossed for Tiga. Even more worrying when you don't know what's wrong xx
griff
Delaney tested negative for meningitis originally but we decided to treat as if he had it with massive doses of steroids and he was so much better within hours, he was literally at the point where I would have been letting him go, Jane ( Celeste) who used to come on here helped me out loads, I swear any test that could be done was done with that dog...he then got slo after that and that was another learning curve as he couldn't have fish oils. I love sharing my life with animals but trying to figure out what's best for them is really quite stressful for me! I really hope they can sort tiga out... when they can't explain what's wrong... it's such a worry
owl
Jenny has just posted on her page. Looks as if Tiga is being kept at vet until he starts eating.
owl
Not sure how that came out in orange ...
suzeanna
Hope Tiga makes a recovery soon, it must be very worrying for her. Orange? One of the mysteries of the internet, Owl! Do you have any ethnic communities round your way Owl? It's Diwali this weekend so there may be fireworks. Mind you, we have had fireworks going off round here for the past week!
