Yantan
Ruby is finishing of the re-paint in here (sitting room) and wants to gloss the window so it's going to have to be open. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. She is also hoping to finish off a commission portrait of a dog. The dog's owner is here from Scotland this coming week so she can collect it and get it away to be framed in time to give to her husband for Christmas. I hope she likes it. I think she will. griff
Having seen Ruby's work...I can't imagine any being disappointed, very talented lady! Don't envy you the window being open
Yantan
We had to close the window and if it sticks it sticks. Ruby used waterbased paint though which dries a lot quicker than oil based. She took Archie round the block just so they could both stretch their legs and she said the wind was biting. Thank you for those kind word Griff, I shall tell her what you said

griff
Yes Owl, there's been a few times I have thought he has had it but each time he amazes me! He had a rear leg amputated at 3 years old, I was told he would be a house cat, I stopped him going out about 3 years ago lol
Yantan
Cats are amazing creatures. We had a little blind girl (caused by a previous owner's neglect) but her blindness didn't slow her down one bit. She went out everyday with her big pal, Jimmy, who we joked was her guide cat and they had all sorts of adventures. He kept her safe. We didn't stop her doing what she wanted because even if her life proved a short one we wanted her to live it to the full. She died at age 12 as a consequence of her bad start in life, However the vet did tell us he never expected her to live after her rescue never mind get into double figures. She was, at the time of rescue, just a skeleton with skin on. We didn't even know what colour she was. Mainly black with some white as it turned out. We've never forgotten our special girl, Esme

eve
Wow, 21 Griff, what an age. Hope he has a good long time with you to be spoiled rotten. I need to repaint most of our house too. Got a professional decorater in to do it when we first moved in and that was a big let down. Looked brilliant when we first saw it but it's obvious they skimped on everything. No way they did two coats where they should have or used a primer on new wood before glossing or staining. Will be doing it myself from now. Only problem will be the ceilings downstairs which are really high and heights aren't my thing lol.
Yantan
Eve could you manage the ceilings with a roller on an extending pole? That's what we got to do our stairwell. It didn't cost all that much.
Yantan
When tomorrow comes you will find December's thread here: http://www.therefugeforums.org.uk/forums/index.php/topic/53677-decembers-ooh-my-back-my-belly-and-my-two-sides/ I took the liberty of starting it because I was reminded of the title and wanted to use it! suzeanna
Hope your cat goes on for a good while longer yet, Griff. Philip was signed off originally until today, but his voice still isn't right so he went back to the dr yesterday and has been signed off until next Wednesday, and she's referring him to an ENT specialist. His chest xray was clear but she says she cant rule out problems with the larynx itself. It was a gorgeous day here today, so after we'd taken Candy for her game in the park we went for a drive in the Peaks. I can never get tired of the views, I don't know how people can bear to live in a city, surrounded by houses. We stopped in Castleton for a mooch round the gift shops, then ended up in a pub at Hathersage for lunch and I had my first glass of white wine in ages! Chinese takeaway for dinner tonight, so I've had a lazy day. I'm keeping my ouch levels under control with codeine, hopefully it will keep working as the doc said next step up is morphine and I'd really rather avoid that if I can. December tomorrow..argh! still got presents to get and decide whether or not I can manage a four (at least!) hour drive down to see my son and family over xmas, or whether I can persuade my daughter and her husband to go and take our presents.
griff
Suzeanna, could you maybe break the journey with an overnight stay half way there and coming back?? Not ideal I know but might be more comfortable for you. Eve, I have a thing that goes on a pole and you can pop a brush in it for edging..cost me about £5 off eBay but has great reviews, I also use a paint pad and roller on a pole to save me trying to use a ladder Nice title marion
eve
Hope the wine also helps with the ouch levels Suzeanne - would be my opiate of choice lol. I'm with you too on not living in a city. Where we live is absolutely beautiful and a quaint little town. It's inconvenient at times as we can get cut off when the weather's bad but there are days when it's the most beautiful place on earth. Yes I can get an extending roller which would help a bit as the main ceiling was replastered but I have a very ornate cornice and ceiling rose in the sitting room which has over a 100 years of tobacco and fire staining which needs treating first - which the decorating firm was supposed to do but obviously didn't - so I really need to get up there and clean all the intricate bits then go over it with the stain primer before painting it. I absolutely love old houses but they're not without their challenges so if I ever move again it will be to a small new build - nah, probably not.
