Taking your pet abroad if there is no Brexit deal

Thanks Blackmagic. Looks like not much change unless we're classified as an unlisted country. Don't know where they'd check these things though as there are no animal checkpoints going into France at the moment only going back to the UK from France. Though I guess it wouldn't take too long to set them up if they wanted to. Hopefully they sort it soon though as we''re meant to be going to France at the end of February and would be good if we could get back without a 4 month wait lol

I don't see why we would not be classified as as far I know it relates to a country that is free of rabies and UK would qualify for that.

Of course, it may take time to get a classification or the EU might be bl--dy minded.

There will be new customs control brought in after Brexit on both sides of the channel.

Eurostar trains would be turned back from Europe if Britain crashes out of the EU without a deal, a leading French minister has warned.

Nathalie Loiseau, the minister for European affairs, said it was “correct” that both trains and planes from the UK would be barred without an exit agreement.

Hi all

Yantan is locked out of the forum, she has been unable to reset her password so she has asked me to ask everyone to write theirs down. I am just about to message snow but if anyone is in touch with snow, could they ask her to check her messages here... thanks.

I'm here thanks to Griff! She told me that I should be able to find all my stored passwords via Google and I did. My notebook died and I am now on a old laptop but couldn't change my password or set up a new account as the Captcha software on here hasn't been updated so you can't complete either process.

So a catch up - neighbour was taken to hospital by her daughter. They kept her in on Thursday as it was determined that she needed surgery. Got to yesterday, the day of surgery so of course they kept her off food - again! She waited and waited, kept getting put back due to emergencies coming in and was finally told surgery was postponed until today. So now we are waiting to hear if it's a go today.

Well done Griff for getting our Yantan back.

Hope neighbour has surgery done today.

I forgot to plug the mouse repellent in last night after using the halogen oven. Mice had a party, nothing for them to eat so they just chucked stuff around. They carried off a plastic syringe that belong to bottle for Wispa's anti stress medicine, and I found it behind a fishtank. They also carried off a tiny bottle which contains one of her herbal arthritis meds, and I can't find it anywhere! It was still about a third full so I am not pleased. Unless they took it to some old mouse with arthritis I can't think why they wanted it. It was nearly as big as a field mouse so must have been tricky to carry off.

Things are getting rather surreal in the Owlery these days.

Those meeces are playing with you Owl, the little buggers!

Neighbour's daughter has just called in as she had to come through for her mum's medications, phone charger and extra clothes. The surgery isn't being done until Monday as it needs to be done by a specialist who isn't on duty over the weekend. They are keeping our neighbour in to keep the bed. We know how much she loves magazines of any kind so sent some for her to browse through.

It's dreadful weather here. We have flood warnings in place but the forecast says the rain is only set to last until late tomorrow so I don't think we will get any major flooding like we have seen in the past.

Hope you don't flood Yantan

Owl... borrow a cat!! I could always send you a ziplock bag with dexters used wood litter in lol

Had an exciting walk, found a hedgehog so took her to rescue, she is tiny and cery underweight, she is now called dee and weighs just 301grams. She is going to spend winter in rescue, I left some cat food and gave the lady £20 to take care of her

Well done with the hedgie, Griff. That is well underweight for this time of year.

Thanks for the obvious solution which had not occurred to me. Cannot borrow a cat as Wispa hates them, but can certainly get hold of some used cat litter. Might get Wispa wound up as she may think we have a cat peeing in the house, but worth putting up with that if mice think likewise.

After 6.5 degrees yesterday we have 14 degrees today. The weather is really mixed up.

I managed to spend some time in the garden this morning and got one bed tidied up for the winter. 5 minutes after I came in the heavens opened.

We are getting a 18 inch thick stone wall on the garage taken down and replaced with a single brick one. That will give us extra width in the garage and allow us to get the car in more easily. At present there is barely room to get the car door open.

Of course , this involves clearing the part of the garage involved of assorted tins etc that you always seem to use part of.

The bit at the back was added on and is single brick already so the freezers there should be okay to be left.

I am not looking forward to the disruption while it is done.

Mice seem to have weird tastes. I had some saplings growing in pots outside over the winter.. When I went to plant them out each pot had a circle the size of a 50p peice chewed out of the side. There wa trace of the missing pieces so they must have eaten them or wanted a roof for their nest.

Apparently our neighbour needs a specialist surgeon and there isn't one on duty until Monday. They are keeping her in to preserve the bed plus she really does need help with one arm out of action. At least she can eat and drink normally today and tomorrow. She likes her cups of tea!

I fully agree with not vacating the bed....I doubt she would get a bed again!

Blackmagic, hope your renovation goes smoothly

Owl....my 2 hate cats....I don't think they know their brother is one lol, the hedgehog was really small, I whatsapped Yantan a pic of her curled up in her box ..bless her

Hahha Jazz it sneaks up on you. I realised I was old when I caught myself bending down to pick something up in the same manner as my nana, legs apart and in a semi squat. I used to tease her about doing this and I clearly recall her telling me that at some point in life I would be doing the same.

blackmagic don't let them haul that stone away that the present garage is built from, it will probably have some value and be reusable. You might as well get a few quid from it if you can.

It's fine this morning which is just as well as it didn't half chuck some rain down yesterday.
