Augusts Better Be A Good One

I think you ring 111 but to be fair I have called them before and they have a script and when I have tried to explain I am on chemo they just disregard it. Last time they made me an appointment, some eejit turned up who thought they had ebola and nobody called to say don't attend and I walked in to a closed down centre

my mate has just got engaged... there's hope for me yet, her third time and my mates second....it has disaster spelt all over it

I am very happy this morning as we were going to search for a missing local terrier and she has just turned up covered in fox poo. Hmm what shall we do instead?

How is the vertigo, Griff?

Hope your friends are doing the right thing, but if not it is much easier to get disengaged than divorced.

I was engaged once but broke it off. I wanted a simple registry office ceremony with minimum fuss, he wanted a big church wedding with me dressed up as a meringue. I could not understand why as he did not attend church. Turned out he thought I would take vows in church more seriously and not do a runner. Thought he had a meal ticket for life. Lucky escape for me. His earning ability as a decorator was much more than mine but he preferred to depend on me. I came to my senses and left.

Phew, lucky escape there Owl on the marriage front. I hope you have a peaceful day now lil terrier has turned up.

Ruby had a rotten nights sleep so has gone back to bed.

Does anyone watch Outlander or read the books? I tried to watch the first couple of episodes sometime last year but couldn't get into it. However I recently tried again and now I am hooked! I'm almost at the end of series 3 but 4 isn't scheduled until November so I will just have to wait to see what happens.

I love Outlander but I am interested in the Jacobites

The start was a bit uneventful but it does improve.

I have read the first book. It is much more detailed than the series which is dumbed down a lot. There are nine books so far and each series is based on a book so many more to go. Two further series are currently in the pipeline.

I know the areas of Scotland used for some of the filming. Some was done in Culross where I used to live and where I met JIm.

And of course, Culloden is near Inverness, just down the road.

I have been on the reserved list at the library for the second book for about a year. It is down to 3 reserves so I will be one of those. There were something like 50 reserves when I first reserved it.

We are currently watching The Americans on Amazon. It is about a couple of KGB agents who are living apparently normal lives in America as travel agents while working as spies, getting people to get them information to pass back to Russia.

Vertigo is horrible, Griff. I hope it passes soon or you can get something for it.

Enjoy your day off, Owl.

I am fortunate. I met JIm a month before my 16th birthday. We got engaged when I was 19 and married when I was 21. We celebrated our Golden Wedding last February.

blackmagic that is wonderful.

I don't think I am a relationship person, more of a natural born lone wolf. It has advantages and disadvantages.

Having said that, I will now probably fall for some eccentric naturalist I meet in a reed bed. Those are the only people I do socialise with, most of the time! Not complaining as they can be very interesting.

Well black magic I think we can confidently say that you and Jim rub along together very well! I am interested in the Jacobites too and especially Culloden, although not happy that King George's third son held the title of Duke Of Cumberland thus bringing my native county's name into disrepute. I think I might give the Outlander books a try now. I thought they might contain more detail so thanks for confirming that, at least about the first one. I'm not sure I don't have one of the series already as I have a feeling I took it in a swap on the now defunct Read it Swap it site.

I was also thinking of trying Americans so that will probably be my next "go-to" after Outlander.

We are currently watching Bob Ross on YouTube as that's what Ruby fancied doing. I can only take so much of "happy little trees" LOL!

Oh dear, I watch so few actual programmes on TV that I have no clue what all the above is about lol. Football and crime dramas, dog rescue programmes and occasionally property renovation stuff is pretty much all I watch. I don't have the attention span for films and with long ongoing series I've forgotten what the last episode was about by the time I watch the next one.

What a beautiful love story Blackmagic. Not many people get to be so lucky. Or put in the work to make it last. I worked in libraries for many years. The most popular books on the reserved list did the rounds of the staff before any members of the public got their hands on them, so not surprised you've waited over a year for this one. Culloden is one of my most favourite places I've ever been. So atmospheric, you can feel the history of the place, the battle, as you walk round.

Smiling at Owl falling for an eccentic naturalist in a reed bed. Sounds just right for you, as long as Wispa approves, of course.

Hope you're vertigo is improving Griff, horrible feeling nauseous every time you move.

You still on the full fat Kir Royale Suzeanna? Just go for it girl.

Hope Ruby is continuing to improve.

Have a lovely evening everyone xx

Only on a Saturday night, Eve! Have to agree with not having a clue which programmes are being discussed, we don't really watch a lot of tv. Looking forward to the Yorkshire Vet starting again this week though.

Griff, if you are still feeling yuck tomorrow, ring the ruddy doctor!

I met my ex husband when I was nearly sixteen, we married when I was 18 and he was 19 and I had two children by 21. I must admit though, looking back on it, my over riding reason for marrying wasn't so much that I was madly in love, more that I hated living at home. We never had an awful lot in common and by the time the children were in their midteens it just wasn't working. Met Philip when I was 36 and he was a mere lad of 26 (tut tut) and we've been married 26 years in October. Seems to be working so far! You seem to have got it right first time, Blackmagic.
