Look at what happened at the reserve. This was on my particular patch, at the time I am usually there, but not on Monday as a friend was visiting. This is the statement I have put out on social media:

"An incident occurred at approx 6 pm on Monday 5.6.17 at Chainbridge Lane. This is the road (council road but with chippings not tarmac) which goes from Lound through the middle of the Idle Valley nature reserve and leads towards Hayton near Retford. A local man was walking his dog along this road when a driver drove straight at the dog and ran the dog over. Dog was critically injured and is at vet. Witnesses describe a small silver car. Police are investigating. If anyone has any info about this incident please contact either Martin Fisher, ranger at the reserve visitor centre, or the police. Or PM me as I will pass on messages.

Meanwhile please be aware that this person is still at large and be alert, keep yourself and your dogs safe."

On a happier note, it is Wispa's 9th gotcha day.

Happy gotcha day Wispa

And I apologise in advance for my language but WTF kind of sicko does something like that??? I hope they hit a wall in the car and the damn air bag fails!!! Poor dog and owner, you are never going to get over that even if the dog recovers which hopefully he/she will

This is true, Jazz. Best chance of getting diagnosis and treatment.

Update on injured dog: Archer is home after being worked on round the clock. 2 collapsed lungs filled with blood, major trauma. He is having a quiet weekend at home before travelling to East Midlands on Monday to specialist referral vet for surgery.

It is now known that the driver was a middle aged man.

Thank you.

Unfortunately the problem is bigger than just Archer, though that is bad enough. After I made a statement about the incident on my Facebook page and shared it around a bit, reports are coming back to me of damaged vehicles. In one case a note was left on windscreen saying the car would be reported for illegal fishing on Site of Special Scientific Interest. The people were only walking dogs round lake, not fishing. There is no way the culprit would have reported them, considering he undid their wheel nuts so car went out of control on way home. I think we may have a deranged eco-vigilante here. Will have my wits about me and be extra cautious.
