Amy thats shite just before Xmas as well - hopefully the unions will chuck it out and they wont be able to do anything until its all agreed. :flowers:

Righto girls time to come clean - there's been summat else going on alongside my mum which involves a health scare for me personally, its still ongoing but I feel a bit less concerned about it after seeing the Dr again today, I've had a bit of a funny patch thing on one breast which could be Paget's disease i.e. breast cancer, I saw the Dr about it a couple of weeks ago hoping he'd tell me it was nothing to worry about and instead he confirmed that it could well be something serious. I've had steroids for the past 2 weeks and had to go back today for another examination where a decision would be made about what to do next. The patch is a bit of on odd one, it could very well be nothing more than some kind of dermatitis eczema thing, but its not exactly behaving that way, on the other hand I don't have a lump or some of the other indicators for Paget's. I withheld the info from my mum until last week as I didn't want her worrying with all she's got going on. There has been a very slight improvement but its still there so I'm being referred to see a specialist asap. My GP is almost 100% sure its not cancer but he wants to make absolutely certain and leave nothing to chance as if there really is summat going on we will have caught it very very early. I'm refusing to be at all concerned, personally I suspect it's "me'ormones" and it'll end up buggering off of its own accord as mysteriously as it arrived.

I also hate the charities that stand t the exit to the supermarket. Even worse are the bag packers. A friend actually complained to her local Asda and suggested they have one till without a packer and they did do that.

I know 10p would't hurt and 10p from everybody would add up but I don't want to be pressurised into donating to anybody.

Amy, I hope your union support you all. It is never the top paid who have to make the sacrifice and it would take less of them to achieve the same result.

Snow, I hope you get the all clear. I had a scare last year and it is not nice. Everybody i saw was very nice and fortunately it was nothing serious- just to make sure I have mammograms as normal.

Gemstone, sorry you didn't get the job. Maybe something better will come along.

:GroupHug: Snow, I really hope it turns out to be nothing serious

Amy I hope there is a positive outcome :flowers:

Sorry you didn't get the job Julia :(

I am 90% ready for my stall, just waiting on my mugs and have a few bits to get. Quite excited about it now :)

I'm really sorry but we will be doing that soon - we don't approach people and beg but we do stand there with our buckets (and a dog or so) - when you look at what we ask for as a donation (£120 but will reduce if the home is perfect and the dog could get nowhere more suitable in a million years) compared to what it will have cost us to neuter, vaccinate and board that dog PLUS all the long stayers who if we asked for what they had cost us would be donations of over £1,000 PLUS all the dogs we have out on foster-adoption schemes where we pay the vet bills for an ongoing condition to ensure that the dog will not be overlooked when trying to find a home then the ££££s in really do need rather a lot of help!

Oh, and of course the dogs where if the original owners had bothered to take them to the vet it would not have cost us over £800 and the dog lost an ear, or over £230 and the 4 year old dog would not have lost 12 teeth.......

Especially when you realise how much doesn't go to the charity. My son was offered a job, supposedly for the Dog's Trust. What it actually involved was manning a stall in a shopping centre and persuading shoppers to sign up for a monthly direct debit. He would get £250 per week basic plus commission on any "sales". So how much does the Dog Trust get out of your monthly DD?

Hey, think it's a bit different when you're fundraising for yourself.I'd put money in your bucket. What I, and am sure others, are uncomfortable with are the scenarios like I described above where agencies employ staff on behalf of charities and you have no idea how much the charity actually gets

Yes I agree. We have one lot who set up a table right at the side of the inner entrance door. You cannot avoid passing close to it as you go in and out.

I have no objection to those who stand out of the way, but I suppose they don't get as much money that way.

I have gone on the street collecting for Guide Dogs but people had to come over to us, Mind you they usually did as we had dogs with us, which always attracted them.

Last week there were bag packers in our supermarket. My husband, who does the packing as I load the conveyor belt, declined the offer to pack for him as they tend to throw things in any old how.

He had to ask the woman to move back as she stood hovering over him and getting between him and the shopping. She made a face - she didn't know I could see her- as she moved away.

Snow sending positive thoughts for you for the best possible outcome Group_Hug_Emoticon.gif

Ceredigion you have no apologies to make here for what you do. You are not in the same league of some of big charities. I'd gladly put money in your bucket if I saw you collecting. In fact you can have my Christmas donation flowers.gif

Have been doing really well so where did the urge to have a cigarette come from? Luckily there are none in the house and there are no corner shops round here to just nip to for a packet. Supermarkets don't sell them (and are shut by now anyway) - has to be a designated 'tabac' which is usually a pub or brasserie in this area. Would have to take a chance that the pub in the next village is open and I'm not that desperate

Evening so cold and windy here.

Amy I hope you can get it resolved in your favour. I really didn't think that a salary could be reduced. :GroupHug:

Julia :GroupHug:

Snow hope they discover it's something and nothing rather than something serious. :GroupHug:

Feel like I've been through the wringer. Did my exam last night, got in a right state as was stressed to the hilt and now have no idea how I've done. Not helped by having to do it 9.30pm til midnight when I've had a tough day at work. I'll have to wait a month to find out the result this time. I'm giving myself the rest of December off from studying as something has to give. I really should be going to my Dads this weekend again to help them but feel worn out and need to start my xmas shopping. His operation has been postponed until January.

Scooby is being very cheeky with Fergus at the moment and bossing him about. The great big doufus thinks it's wonderful. He fawns over him. Would never think they used to hate each other.
