We have booked a pitch for our caravan - Me, OH, Samuel who is 5, Georgia who is 3, Bob our Tibetan Terrier who is about 8ish!

Have also booked a tent pitch next to us for Claire P & her doggies!

Nice lady on phone seems to have sussed the Oldies ploy of booking as she asked me as well but I think having small children & a van put her off the scent! Lol !

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Caroline

Billy, dogs have to be kept on leads in the camp (well supposed to be) so Sparky could be kept away from kids and its up to the kids to keep footballs away from the dogs. Do come

Caroline we have a caravan too, I am too old for basic camping. :laughingsmiley:

For anyone worried about bringing anti -social/nervous dogs don't be! I really wasn't going to take Roly last year as I thought he would be awful but it makes a hell of a difference when there are lots of other 'understanding dog owners' there. Everyone pretty much ignored him & kept their dogs away from him which suits Roly fine - & there are areas you can take your dog if they aren't that comfortable with large groups of dogs/people. Roly did eventually succumb to Michaela & Cindy's sausages though

Hmmm, I'm afraid I have to give this one a miss after all: I do not trust Sparky with kids, or Kiera with footballs for that matter! :( Nevermind, we'll go camping elsewhere and will surely meet you all some time?

Billy, I took Neo last year and we were fine. In fact it was Saffy who loves everyone that was a pain. I just kept him away from the kids and explained to the few local ones that he wasnt too good with children and they were fine. I took him for walks in the woodland area at quiet times and we did join in with a couple of the group walks too. He wasnt anywhere near as socialised last year as he is now. :)

Can you put a windbreak across the front of your tent? Thats what we do? Gives him some protection from offenders invading his space. And also there is a proper football pitch so the bigger kids go and play there. (if we havent overtaken it playing ball with the dogs  )

Use it as a training session. What better time to do some 'practise' than with lots of doggy people. And to confirm that was doggy not dodgy!

Awww, thanks for your replies! I'll have another think, but tbh I'm a bit unsure if I can cope with a nervous "get the F*** away from me" dog, a "my ball, my ball, I said MY ball" dog and then of course HRH as well - who at the moment is keeping me awake every night coughing and flicking his tongue loudly, everyone else is quiet  - on a social which is bound to be busy. I'm :tired: already, but lemme think about it :flowers:

Believe me this weekend isn't busy - well it wasn't last year and I expect it will be similar? It's very laid back, the pitches are plenty big enough to keep the dogs seperated if necessary and also the walks too, there are lots of little footpaths to take away from other dogs and also the football pitch if there are children playing. There's also a nice quiet walk along the river in Charlbury itself if you really wanted to get him away from it all.So as others have said it could be a great opportunity to do some socialising with other dogs - even at a distance.I've checked Oxfordshire school dates and it isn't half term or anything, not sure about other areas though so it may well be fairly quiet on the site anyway.

Natalie will be great to see you again.
