owl
Remy is a tricolour collie boy, typical farm collie, longish coat. He has been caught with great difficulty after running wild for ages nr Newquay Wales. He is now with jazzthedestroyer at Llwyndafydd, too scared to take food from her hand, skulking at the back of his kennel if anyone opens the door. But yesterday his tail gave a little wag when she brought his food. He could do with some Reiki and some its-ok-so-don't-panic thoughts please. rmb3971
We can't do Reiki, but we can do positive thoughts. Plenty of those and cyber licks too from our Remmi, also tri collie but from Ireland (found shot and mended by Cottage Rescue) and says he knows how you must feel Remy. Remmi adds he gets nervous at times still, especially when there are loud bangs, but he knows now that most hooomun beans are kind and a source of tasty morsels now, so take the food and you'll get some lovely fuss too. He says it'll be much better than having to find your own grub! And one day soon you'll have a lovely cosy home of your own where you might get to share a hoooomun's bed too! Robbie (Remmi's collie partner in crime) sends licks too. Roz x
melissa
Roly sends his love too - he is a very timid dog but time & patience he is learning that people are nice (at least the ones I have in my house!) owl
Thanks Fugees and Fugeedogs I will keep you posted on his progress. Remy thinks the food is MUCH better than catch-your-own and he loves his cosy bed and the heat lamp when it's cold.
owl
Remy now accepts food from his foster mum's hand and will tolerate a rub under the chin at the same time. It's slow progress but he is getting there. He is taking an interest in people and what they are doing.

owl
Remy has been walking out on a harness and long line for a while now. He can't be let off lead as he panics and takes off at unexpected loud noises, but considering the state he was in when caught after living feral for ages, he is doing pretty well. But no way will he go in the house yet, he goes into a flat panic.

Mrs Mop
A friend in Canada fostered a dog that was feral and terrified of people and my friend was really worried about the winter coming with this dog being out. He was happy in the garage but panicked if going towards the house. They put a lot of insulation round a crate, underneath as well, just left enough of a hole for the dog to get in and out and he spent the winter in this. All that winter the door was left open to the house and he would often stand at the door watching. This went on for a year. In their fall, my friend was on her own in the kitchen when he walked, in, didn't go in very far, looked at her then walked out again. My friend was stunned, didn't think it would happen. Gradually he started to walk further into the house and stay longer until one day he walked into the living room and lay down on one of the dog beds. He never slept in the garage again and was in the house for that winter.
BeadyP
Arent dogs amazing. I'm glad Remy is making progress, and how wonderful his foster parents are. They have my admiration. Sending calming thoughts to Remy.
rmb3971
Remy...you brave boy. Our Irish Remmi would like to tell his Welsh counterpart that it took him quite a while to walk confidently on the lead, he used to crouch down low anxiously (which is reaonable if you've been shot and are sensitive to every loudish or unusual noise). He soon learned that walks mean outings and car rides, perhaps even a swim. Lovely to hear about his progress. Big hugs to him and his foster parents.
