sproggie14
This dog is on a mission to worry us to death and bankrupt us this weekend. Just found this on her paw It's a round, pink swelling in between the pads on her back foot. It doesn't seem to hurt and looks clean and fresh. It is soft and squidgy feeling. Vets appointment is at 1 but any thoughts in the meantime?
owl
Looks like a fluid-filled cyst to me. They can grow very quickly. Easy to remove, but vet may decide to drain it. If that happens, take a tip from us and keep massaging the empty cyst or it will fill up again.
Tobleronie
I have no idea, but good luck at the vets
cassiespookymum
Just going to say looks like an interdigital cyst ( I think!) They can sometimes be caused by grass seeds or could be caused by bacteria in a small cut. The vet should be able to drain it and then you could bathe it it salt water. sproggie14
Thank you, that sounds about right Hopefully they can just drain it today then. Poor dog won't have any bits left unbutchered before long
Muriel
My thought was interdigital cyst too. What did vet say? For the future, if you suspect a foreign body, Homeopathic Silicea 30c, one tablet 3 times a day for a few days usually gets it out easily. sproggie14
Loki has been back to the vets this evening. She has had her stitches out, more blood taken to test her liver function, and a needle aspiration taken of the lump on her foot. We should get blood results tomorrow and the lump test results in a few days. The reason we're having the lump tested in advance rather than once removed is because the vet says if it turns out to be something nasty she will need to have her toe amputated to ensure that they remove enough healthy tissue to prevent it spreading I think there is a very good chance that it is just a cyst but I'm very shaken by the idea that she might have to lose a toe I feel a weekend of worry coming on I just hope her bloods come back ok too. *sigh*

sproggie14
Thanks Helen Well the vets have just called with her blood results and the same liver enzyme is still raised There is no obvious explanation for this as she seems well in herself and has now had two long courses of antibiotics. The vet would still be happy to operate and said we could either just wait and see what the enzymes did over time. Or we could go with more bloods. I have said we will go for more blood tests. I don't want to take any chances or leave this hanging over us any longer. If the blood tests don't show anything then the next step would be an ultrasound to see if anything is enlarged internally. merledogs
How is she now? Sending lots of positive thoughts
sproggie14
In herself she is fine but the liver enzymes are still raised and there is some sort of abnormality with her white blood cells. She is having an ultrasound on Tuesday and more blood taken to be sent to a specialist to see what is going on with her blood. So we still don't know for sure what is going on but we have been told to prepare ourselves for the possibility of cancer. At the moment the lump on her foot is on hold til we know what is going on with the rest of her.
