  1. Morning :wavey:

RMF: I have woken up with a stinking cold and no brain power as a result, well for those who know me this means that Harry the Brain Cell has disappeared back to bed

I will try and catch up later, thank you for the kind comments about my house :flowers: and :GroupHug: 's to all Fugees and Fugee families that need them :GroupHug:

  2. Hey Missus Tiks :wavey:

I yam moving to Kent next weekend :elefant: but have bought My House (can't resist saying that again!) in Bristol to get my bum on the property ladder and make a bit of cash - hopefully!

I may be laughing a bit at Dex's sneaky poo deposits! :flowers:

  3. Hey Fugees :wavey:

Happy New Year  :elefant: I do hope that this year is a good one for everyone :flowers:

RMF: I am having my first day back at work this year, had Mon and Tues booked off as holidays and then couldn't go anywhere yesterday, I've not done any work for 3 weeks and it is rather lovely being in the office

RMF2: I only have another 4 days of work left  (once today is finished) and then as of next Wednesday I am unemployed and I am then moving to Kent next Sat (16th) :elefant:

RMF3: I had a fabulous Christmas and New Year and was spoilt rotten by my fantastic boyfriend and family

  4. Alex :GroupHug: :GroupHug: I found out over the weekend that Arty died a few weeks ago and I haven't said anything as I have no idea where to start, I miss him like mad but obviously in an easier to cope with way as he hadn't been 'mine' for over two years ... LOTS of :GroupHug: 's still on the way to you and your gang

Oooo Sam if I ever find the time to take a proper holibob can I come to Sri Lanka too ... I want to meet the heffleumps!

  5. Congratulations Cheryl! :flowers:

I've forgotten everything else, sorry Fugees but :GroupHug: 's all round so please take as needed :GroupHug:

RMF: Went outside to phone my little brother (his girlfriend suddenly can't come for Christmas so wanted to make sure he was ok) and have a cig at the same time, put my glass of wine on the window ledge ... two secs later BIG smash, the ledge was so icy it fell off!! poor Jack nearly had a heart attack as it reminded him of Lee throwing glasses at me :mecry: the poor wee boy is all ok now as he has had a biscuit and a cuddle    ... I am ok as I have a new glass of red wine

  6. Belive me I'd LOVE pics of my mane but unfortunately whilst uploading pics to the pc so I could take some I just dropped my camera and it now won't turn on mecry.gif hopefully it's just the batteries and I'll get some while I'm out and check, otherwise maybe one of my friends will take some.

Fingers crossed as I need to see! ... we may need to rename you Snow The Lion

Ms Sparkle, Wispa is currently wearing her snazzy coat indoors as a dressing gown as feeling a bit cold, so I might just take a piccy on my mobile and send it to you. Please put it on the thread if you like as I still can't work out how cos I am IT challenged owl.

Kats, I am beginning to wonder what your HR department is so darned scared of if they won't simply come to an agreement with you, deal with the matter and get on with their work. They seem to be bent on extreme comflict with one staff member who has done nothing wrong except object to being assaulted by another staff member. Is it a distraction ploy of some kind, to take attention away from something else going on?

I've not received anything Missus Owl just so you know ... I may be able to put it on, I haven't got a cable for my current phone to connect it to the computer but I think they should talk to each other via bluetooth ...

tee hee  Sam is my nooo boy - friend of a friend, vegan, into fitness stuff, smart and rather gorgeous too. Just getting to know each other, nothing serious or monogamous as yet but we'll see how it goes. And yes, I'm rather happy for that, and lots of other stuff too

Oooo he sounds fab! any photos so we can drool see what he looks like?!  very glad life is so good for you :flowers:

I almost can't believe what Az just did. Tara Banana was puffing and blowing a bit, and I was just making coffee and not really paying attention to her.

So, Az gave me his most withering expression, stood up, turned the handle, and opened the patio door so that Tara could go out for a wee. He didn't go through the door himself, he just opened it, pushed it open and stood there waiting for her to go out.

Honestly the longer I know that lurcher the more impressed I am. He is soooooo clever!

 bless him! I wish you had cameras in your kitchen!

Hope the HR dept stop being such muppets soon Kats :GroupHug:

  7. One of the members thats on the site I use has this company pads4pets a few other members have bought the coops and said they are very well made.

These are excellent Wells Poultry made from tanalised timber they will last a long time.

Thanks for those links  :flowers:

I did a google search and found this which I think would be about right - or something similar, but not sure how fox proof it would be

There is SO much to consider!! The garden needs to be Jack proofed so will hopefully be safe enough to let them have a wonder around in whilst I am there, but may not be ... would that size run with regular exciting bits added to the floor (and clean wood chips put down!) be enough for them??

Sparkle, how exciting. I bet you can't wait

I was never off the poultry forums (and pestering Phoebejo with questions) before I got my girls.

I have just had the Flyte So Fancy email through and I've won a runner up prize in the competition to win a freestanding shelter. There is a Gardman bird feeding station and feeders on its way to me  The hens will be thrilled, they like to stand under the bird feeders and wait for bits to drop down

I really can't! No idea what chooks I am going to get, but one will be white/blond and called Sookie

    Congratulations!

  8. Owl - Hope the white fish helps settle poorly Wispa's tummy missus owl :GroupHug: have we had photos of her in her VERY snazzy sounding coat?!

Hope you feel better soon Spins :flowers:

Snow - Glad you're feeling a bit better, I will admit to having a little chuckle over the dancing round the kitchen with Nog  hope the new year brings a better outcome :flowers: and pics of the mane please!

    Hey Gems :wavey:

purple_mog - *AHEM* Sam?????

RMF: I CANNOT TAKE ANY MORE CHRISTMAS SHOPPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only one more thing (possibly two  ) to get :elefant: and then I am all shopped out until the birthdays start again

  10. I'd look about before you decide on an Eglu, they are probably loved and hated in equal measure, they are supposed to be Red Mite free but all that happens is the RM stay on the hens 24/7 rather than hiding in nooks and cranny's during the day and feasting on the hens at night, the run that comes with them is also probably way to small, even for 3 hens, the ground will very quickly turn into a big manky mud hole, but, they are an easy starting point and look quite funky, but for the same price you could get a well made wooden house that will hold more than 3, and believe me, 3 won't be enough once you've been bitten by the chook bug.Have a look on the Practical Poultry web site, you don't need to join to view it, and there's tons of unbiased opinion, you might want to buy a book or two as well, I can't recommend Practical Poultry's own book enough, it answered all the questions I had and others I hadn't even thought off.

Will do, have looked at a site which did wooden ones too, price wise they were about the same I just wasn't sure which was more practical for a smallish edge of big village garden ... we back onto a copse so foxes will undoubtedly be an issue ...

Have you seen how big a bantam Poland is? Sadly the boys get wasted, there's nothing I can do with them.

I'm Griffin on the Omlet forum  I've met quite a few of the members, they've been lovely. I must be in the minority over there though because I don't have an eglu or cube

As for how well they travel, mine are all fine with travelling. Olive loves nothing better than a trip to the vets but that's because she's tiny and gets to sit on a lap and look out the window  Most chickens are fine once in a cardboard box, they'll go to sleep.

    Chicken soup??! :flowers:

Whoop! Will probably say hi on there during the day time, don't spend enough time online during the evening to really concentrate on a post!

Travelling could well be Kent to Germany/Belfast/Newcastle though ... I am worrying that may be too far .. plus if it were Germany I am not sure about the rules and regs re transporting chucks abroad ... I suppose I could persuade my parents to have them if it were too far a posting but again that would be a 6 hour transport

  11. Phew! One can be called Sookie then at least

Sorry the boys are taking over ... but thinking of all of that roast chicken has also made me jealous (and my mouth water!) there is just no pleasing some people!! :flowers:

Have been on the Omlet forums (oddly enough I am on there as sparkle too!) and got some good tips, am thinking 3 chooks and one Eglu, but can't decide on the size ... won't be doing it until the summer as think that would be best all round

How well do chooks travel?? The next posting may be a big journey ...
