  2. Pippa came home today and went to her new foster home where she can have some quieter time to recover in peace. She settled in welll and is being spoilt rotten Here's her story ReikieAnge.Bless her she did not take well to being at thats vets and is feeling very sorry for herself http://www.therefuge.org.uk/forums/index.p...45142&st=15
  3. Please keep fingers crossed and healing thoughts for Pippa DNB pup ( Piper) we have had to go ahead with her first operation this afternoon as she is in so much pain and having problems.
  4. It was good to catch up the other night Melp am sorry it had to be such a needy phone call. Both dogs are absolute angels they have the most wonderful loving gentle personalities you could ask for. It is still sooooo sad and beyond me why there are so many other dogs out there with owners that never receive the love, help and care these 2 have they are such wonderful dogs and a credit to Helly. Sadly for Pippa (Piper) with all the love and care she has received she has medical issues that know one could ahve known about and needs medical care asap especially for her left back leg. I won't lie we are flat broke and struggling to find funds (like a lot of other rescues) and yes I am begging for help as we have 2 other dogs in our care that we are still trying to raise £5000 for their operations. KC our abused Lurcher had to have emergency surgery to save his leg even though we didn't have the funds for it and still has one more operation to go through with follow up Hydro Therapy. We have where possible paid a little off each week as he is not with our vets but under a specialist and we all know how good they are but want their money there and then.JJ our pup with one & a half ears and all of his problems still has to under go surgery at the RVC we managed to raise the funds to pay for his scan but are now struggling to find the £3000 it will cost for his op Before Xmas we didhave tiems in local papers,tv and have an article in March Issue of Dogs Today ( all be it incorrect website address) We have off site events organised for both these dogs and now including Pippa in them but these take time to organise and with weather so bad we are limited to what we can do with out having to pay out hire fees for rooms and halls. We have been lucky that another forum has split their mini auction proceeds with us and another rescue and we have just heard last night that another forum is going to hold a mini auction to help us. To top it all as some of you may be aware our own forum was hacked and is no more I am desperately trying to get a new one sorted (not easy being a dope with techie stuff loll) but with no site we cannot at present hold another auction ourselves. Please please please if any one can spare a £2.00 it would soon mount up or any items for auctioning off on here or else where or could hold a coffee morning or bootsale to help towards Pippa's operation we would really appreciate it. Thank you xxxxxx
  5. Well have some good news and not so good news Not so good news is that for past week Pippa (Piper) has been limping on and off so took her to vets and she has a luxating pattella so has to go back next week for x rays and a possible op Good news is that Tikka has a new home Her foster family are 100% in love with her and she is staying with them forever and ever
  6. Pippa has now been spayed and try telling her that she still wants to run around like a loonie lol but poor little Tikka had come into season so has to wait a while and to top it off has a urine infection she is feeling very sorry for herself but is getting lots of extra tlc from her foster family
  7. Homed with Wolfie another of our dogs from 2007
  8. Homed in my village with another westie to play with
  9. Then we have Pippa (formely Piper) who is with me at the madhouse. She hates it here with all the other dogs and pups and the visitors who give her loads of cuddles This was fisrt night when she was determind not to close her eyes and go to sleep in case she missed somthing. She was so comical she looked like one of those nodding dogs in the back of the car lol Metting the babies Having a game with Zagg & Uncle Muzi ,secretly think there is alove thing going on there all be it one sideded. She just adores sleeping with Muzi and gets most upset if the other cuddle up to him first and sits on them and second pic is JJ our deaf pup playing with them. She is good with the pk although still monitering their meet times carefully as she is a bit over top with her but no aggresion at all. She is good on the lead but for some reason I do have a big scary sign at end of village and a scarey bush in the field At play in garden and up fields with the others. Can you see me
  10. Firstly an appology for not updating sooner but have been off line. Both these fab girls arrived safely and have been with us for 12 days now.Would never know that they had not lived in homes all those lives and thats down to all the hard work that has been done with them before thay arrived here Firstly we have Tikka arriving and meeting her new foster family She has settled in well is crate trained of anight and never left on her own in the day as there is always someone around or she goes to work with her new foster mummy & daddy and curls up in the office with them. As you can see she is not being spolit or over loved and looks really un happy about being allowed on the sofa
  11. I think Melp got me on a weak moment No seriously it will be an honour to help these 2 fab girlies out.Piper will be coming to my madhouse to stay with Muz & PK (my dog & cat) 2x 16 week lab x pups and 6 x 8 week old pups ( possible staffie/lurcher x sheps will see when I get there lol ) that I am picking up tomorrow from another un wanted litter near our vets. Meanwhile Tikka is going to a fab foster home with a view to keeping her She will be an only dog and am sure will get spoilt rotten by the family will let you know how it all goes Both girlies are booked into be speyed on Monday (get the horrible bits over with quickly) and then in a couple of weeks both are already booked into training /socalising classes to give them that extra boost to help them settle into their new lives down here in cold snowy Kent and to continue the fab work that has already been done with them. Would just like to say a big well done to all who have worked so hard to help these little ones this far.You are all marvelous
  12. Awww bless them well done to you for all you have done for them
  13. Well this little lad is certainly growing, 2" in two weeks vet asked me to stop feeding him so much He now has no outer leg brace but does have a plate inside his leg which is still pinned together.Good news is his elbow joint is growing in to place and all muscles and tissues doing fine :x We do have a problm with his tendons and his 2 middle toes are still curling under so he is now going to go for beach walks up the pebbles to make him put weight on the leg and paw and help stretch those joints ect. The ulna operation is not repairing as fast as Andy would like but then as he has had another growth spurt this doen't help.So for next 2 weeks he is on intense beach walks and physio. The really good news is that he now has a fab new foster mum & dad  Jenny & Clive saw our appeal in the paper and were one of a few who contacted us.I have choosen them as they have a quieter home with no poopies or young children. They have all the time in the world to work with us and his physio .They also have Pointy dog experaince and have a 5/6 yr ol rescue greyhound called Lady who they have worked long and hard with to make her like the world again and the people in it. So a really big thank you to them for stepping in to help. Please meet KC with his new foster mummy & Daddy
  14. Love the first pic of Princess Tess the eyes say it all Happy gotcha day
  15. So sorry to hear news sending love and hugs to you all and lots of healing thoughts to Begbie
  16. Pippen is a 9yr old Lhasa Apso black & white male who is sadly looking for a home due to his owners death. He is a lovely little lad a little over wieght and on a diet ,he has been used to the good life.Earlier in the year he did have a bad back and paw and after being seen by the vet he was given a course of injections to help with pain and swelling of muscles he has been fine since but should it re occur may need another injection evrey once in a while which will cost new owner about £6/8.. So this one reason why his diet is ebing monitered as being over weight will cause him to have problems as with any dog. He has lived with his owner since a pup .He likes to cuddle up on the sofa and go for little walks up the park.He has not been let off lead though so new owner will need to train re-call with him. He is used to going to the beauty parlour and enjoys being pamperd and spoilt. wink He has not lived with other dogs or cats but has been with cats temp recently and really bothered by them. Sorry no picture at present Homing Info Pippen is looking for a quiet home where he will be spoilt and loved and new owners will keep up with his diet though. He will need a secure garden and new owners must not leave him on own for more than 4 hrs. Where fostered .. Awaiting urgent placement Areas for homing .... 150 mile radius of rescue Vaccinated .... Yes Neutered/spayed ..... yes Flea/worm treated ..... Yes Insured ......... Yes Microchipped...... TBC Donation required ...... Set rescue donation required Contact …. [email protected]
  17. I cook my joints of meat in mine in water, keeps meat so soft and tender then use the juices for gravey.Mmmmmmmm
  18. Ok here we go in the best possible laymans terms I can do Poor little lad came out of op about 7pm tonight after major repair works due to complications We knew he was having some problems with his Ulna and the growth plate but this has caused further complications as the plate has closed up more than we had expected effecting the growth of his radius. This has also caused his bottom part of leg to twist under and upwards at an angle so for a couple of days he as not been able to put his leg to the floor. In turn this has also caused his elbow to dislocate which has put added pressure on his radius causing it to re- break He has now had the ulna cut to allow growth to continue. His elbow has been reset allowing his radius to be re broken and set again with internal pins and plates. He is coming home tomorrow for a couple of days r&r then on a strict regime of lead walks every hour and a half to make him put weight on his leg.Sadly he will have to remain on crate rest in between as I do not have the free living space in my little lounge on suite bungalow for him not to be mixing/playing with the other dogs.It is also very crucial now that he does not have an infection set in. He is also going to need water treadmill work ( and we have a pool Grrrrr thats s*d law) so will have to find out where nearest one is as have looked at prices of one and need to be a lotto winner to buy one of those I have spent the day contacting companies and other sites for fund raising and perhaps a quieter foster home. Fingers crossed his and JJ's story will be in the papers this week and have the local tv calling tomorrow to see how he is doing and to arrange to come and film them both for an appeal.Sad thing is with all that is going on with KC poor JJ has been sort of pushed to one side and I do need to get on top of his health problems as well.He is now staying with Auntie Kimber and gang and at least having a family life ,going to the beach and the nature reserve ect so I know he is being well socialised what ever happens with him. I do feel really bad at moment for putting KC through all this and have to admit after todays problems am wondering if I did make the right decison for him.Poor lad has been through so much and feel that I am not helping him maybe am tierd things will look different tomorrow
  19. Sorry not been on with an update but some little terrorist opps mean terrier ate 2 phone and 1 usb cables so not been able to get on here. Well this little lad or shoud I say big lad ( my how he has grown ) has had another operation and goes back for (we hope) the final one tomorrow. He has had a tough time with a infection in the bone and had to have a pin taken out early because of it.He has been sooooooooo good through out all of these ops bless him Last Thursday he had to have all his brace removed because of problems and has been on extra strict crate rest. Just wish some would tell him that He is a smashing little lad who so badly wants to join in with all the other little ones here and just be a normal poopie. Will post some new pics later now I have new reader
