  1. Time for an update for Ardal - The girls at Erin hounds are absolutely delighted with the progress that Ardal has made, he has come on in leaps and bounds . Firstly and importantly Ardal's tummy has settled - but he MUST be fed on Burns - it has proven to be the only thing that has worked, over and above other branded goods, raw and homecooked. Secondly - his SA has now subsided and he can happily be left for a reasonable amount of time. However his new home would need to work to settle him in a new situation and expect a slight reversal on this, but we know now he can do it! He is excellent with his Foster homes Granddaughter and he is very gentle . however due to the way he can, on occassions, be grumbly whilst on lead with other dogs (which is purely fear aggression) we will not home him with children, but he is absolutely fine to have contact with children. Due to his fear aggression when on walks we feel he would seriously benefit if he could be in a less challenging environment. By this we mean that Ardal's Foster home is in a great area for walks etc however, it is a heavily populated area with many off lead dogs and lots of many different breeds, It would be so, so much more beneficial if he was in an area where he met maybe just a few of the same dogs each day that he could learn to trust and then positively interact with. He can be distracted with food (which has to be carefully selected because of his sensitive tummy) and will ignore dogs around him etc if you get his attention in time. He is very happy and well in himself, much more of a happy, waggy tailed boy. Ardal has now to be neutered. Just this weekend Ardal went to help the Erin Hounds girls at a local fundraiser. Ardal exceeded their expectations of how he would be! He spent the entire day with another (now adopted) Erin dog, a very vocal Saluki x and an elderly greyhound, he lay with them all! He also passed an Alsation, off lead and a jack russell and setters etc, hardly any reaction at all - Ardal showed himself beautifully! Ardal is an extremely loyal boy, and he never wants to be far away from you! We feel confident that Ardal is now ready for either his forever home or a Foster home with a view to adoption. Having a chin rub Happy tailed waggy boy An inquisitive nosey, happily with a greyhound friend If you feel you would like to discuss offering Ardal a forever home, or a Foster home with a view to adoption then please do get in touch - someone is really missing out on such a faithful and loving boy!
  2. I'm delighted to say that Bella now has a lovely home to call her own . She has settled in very well and has even by-passed lovely new dog bed for a chair! xx
  3. Please meet Ardal - looking for that one in a million chance Ardal came out of an Irish dog pound in a very poor state of health and very frightened . We believe Ardal to be about 18 months old and is a very stunning and handsome boy indeed . He is now in a loving foster home in Cheshire, his health continues to improve and he is getting fitter and stronger. He especially loves his foster Mum with whom he has become very close. He is an extremely loving boy who loves being in a home now and has even started to initiate playing during this last week. Ardal has also attended a few fund raising events and has coped really well as he loves human fuss and attention! Since coming out of the pound Ardal has experienced some separation anxiety - however - his foster carers have been working on this and it is paying dividends now. Ardal is now learning to use a crate (with the door ajar) which he is starting to feel secure in and has been left for short periods with great success. He has also started to sleep in his crate at night of his own choosing. These steps will need to be continued by his new home to ensure that his progress continues in a positive way forward. He can sometimes be fearful of other dogs when he is on a lead, so we are looking for an experienced home to continue the good work of his fosterers. Ardal reacts greatly and positively to rewards either verbally or treats for good behavior so this is an ideal way to motivate and praise. He is an intelligent, sensitive boy and will need a quiet but stimulating home - it is for this reason that whilst Ardal is gentle with his foster carers Granddaughter we do feel that Ardal would be best suited to an adult only home and he would love another dog or two for company and confidence building. Ardal will not be homed with cats. To summarize Ardal is such a loving boy who adores fuss from humans and loves canine companionship within the home . He just needs a hands on dog savvy home who can realise his potential and that can work with him to help him become more independent in the home and more relaxed around canine companions out of the home, with slow steps forward to help overcome his fears. Any work put in with Ardal will be given back tenfold by his love, enthusiasm to please and above all a huge bond with his owner - this would surely warm the heart to see him grow and develop into a truly loyal and loving companion. Are you that special person to offer Ardal that one in a million chance? Ardal is microchipped, vaccinated and will be neutered soon. Ardal is also due to start socialisation classes this week. 4. Please meet Bella - a fun loving girl and adoring companion Bella has earned herself many nicknames since being with her fosterers – all them however are accompanied with a chuckle . But let's start at the beginning. Bella was picked up out of a ditch in a Dublin suburb, plastered in mud and dirt and very, very low, her good Samaritan took her to a nearby vets. It was evident that she had had puppies only a matter of two or three days earlier. No sign of the puppies who were far too young to survive without her so we would guess they are 'no more'. Bella is no spring chicken in years, but be under no illusion that she shows her age! She is a HUGE character , loves life, loves to be busy and ADORES Keith, one of her fosterers, she is only small (by what we are used to!) and we think she is around 8 yrs. She is excellent in the house, in the car and hasn't put a paw wrong . She would be the most adoring companion . She is a little strong on the lead so probably best suited either to a male owner or someone looking to downsize from big dogs. Bella also does a good line in jumping so a secure garden and not close to a busy road is an important consideration, she does however only jump out when Keith has left her and goes looking for him. If someone needs a dog to love and to be loved back and wants enjoyment at every turn then Bella is your lady . She is vaxed and will be spayed soon. Please don't overlook this lass as she has so much to give. For more information or to discuss offering Bella a home please contact - Sue Coldock 01928 714558 or Victoria Lyon (Ireland) 00353 9496 59276 e-mail : [email protected] View our website at: http://erinhounds.immink.co.uk/index.htm Hounds in our care currently looking for forever homes: http://erinhounds.immink.co.uk/homeplease.htm Time for an update on little Bella who is still waiting for her forever home. Bella has really settled into her foster home now and is as bright as a button, happy and full of zest and a great character! Her foster Mum says - 'Bella is a real character and would follow you 'till the end of the earth', she is so loyal and as she walks, her rump and tail are going in tandem with her tail up in the air like a pole from a dodgem car! She loves playing with a ball and will retrieve' . This is a pic of her recently at the beach (as you can see she loves playing ball) Whilst Bella is absolutely fine with children she does select and prefer the company of adults. For this reason we do think she would be best suited to either an adult only home or one which has much older children who won't demand much from her. Bella has now been spayed. Someone is really missing out on such a lovely and eager to please girl , she is a delight to have in your life, full of spark and joy . Could you be that forever home? if you think you could be then please do get in touch.
  5. Valencia or Lexi as she is now known is an extremely calm and placid fawn Lurcher girl . Lexi is now in a foster home in Cheshire and doing extremely well. We were not sure if she had been in a home before, but it is looking like she may have been. Lexi will benefit from a calm home where she can be given the time and chance to blossom. She needs to be shown how rewarding the relationship between owner and hound can be , then she will blossom as she comes out of her shell discovering what a great bond she can have with her owner - fun, love and a secure home. Ideally we would like Lexi to be in a home with another dog for company. She is excellent with other dogs but is too interested in small fluffies to be considered with cats. Although Lexi looks very Greyhound, she is a lurcher and there is a smattering of another breed in her, however she isn’t quite as big as a Greyhound, but more petite. She is good on the lead and an excellent traveler but can be a little insecure when in surroundings she is new too, this will soon change with time and confidence. Lexi is fit and well and looking for her forever home now. She is fully vaccinated and is due to be spayed this week. For more information or to discuss offering Lexi a home please contact - Sue Coldock 01928 714558 or Victoria Lyon (Ireland) 00353 9496 59276 e-mail : [email protected] View our website at: http://erinhounds.immink.co.uk/index.htm Hounds in our care currently looking for forever homes: http://erinhounds.immink.co.uk/homeplease.htm
  6. Please meet Rowan , a happy and confident fawn girl who is only 18 months old. Rowan would make a great family pet . She has character by the bucket loads, loves people and life and being in the thick of it! She was involved in a road accident before coming into Erin’s care, so has a slightly mis-shapened hind leg, but it has been seen and assessed by a vet and causes her no problems. Rowan is good with other dogs but NOT with cats or small furries. As with all greyhounds/lurchers who have only known kennels housetraining will be needed during the initial stages of settling in. Rowan is currently at kennels in the Cheshire area, is fully vaccinated and will be spayed prior to homing. For more information or to discuss offering Rowan a home please contact - Sue Coldock 01928 714558 or Victoria Lyon (Ireland) 00353 9496 59276 e-mail : [email protected] View our website at: http://erinhounds.immink.co.uk/index.htm Hounds in our care currently looking for forever homes: http://erinhounds.immink.co.uk/homeplease.htm

  10. Flite is having visitors this weekend so lots of fingers crossed please that it is 'right' all round. I will update again when I know more.
  11. This is Bree, our beautiful and gentle natured greyhound girl Bree is a lovely 5yr old Greyhound lady, retired thankfully from breeding and now looking for the home she so rightly deserves. She is a happy, outgoing lady who is on the small side for a Greyhound. She is in a foster home learning and adapting well to be a pet, is house trained and has settled extremely well. As with most Greyhounds she is an excellent traveller too. One of Bree's most amusing and favourite things she likes to do is to gather her cuddlies and stores them all in her bed! Bree has also been excellent with her fosterer's 3yr old granddaughter. She would make a brilliant family dog or a companion dog and has delighted everyone she has met . Someone is going to be extremely lucky to have such a beautifully natured girl in their lives who will give you love and cuddles back tenfold. Bree has been cat tested and we are delighted to say that we can consider homes with cats. On Bree's recent cat test she passed having spent an hour in the company of the cat. Then her foster Mum and cat owner felt comfortable enough for Bree to be quickly unmuzzled and on a loose lead, she ended up lying on the floor against the sofa with the cat lying on the sofa directly above her! Bree has been spayed and vaccinated and is in a foster home in Cheshire. For more information or to discuss offering Bree a home please contact - Sue Coldock 01928 714558 or Victoria Lyon (Ireland) 00353 9496 59276 e-mail : [email protected] View our website at: http://erinhounds.immink.co.uk/index.htm Hounds in our care currently looking for forever homes: http://erinhounds.immink.co.uk/homeplease.htm
  12. Please meet our stunning, beautiful, loving and gentle greyhound girl - Flite Flite is a stunning 6yr black Greyhound bitch who is such a lovely and gentle girl. She last raced late August 2009, by Christmas she was surrendered into a sanctuary in Co Mayo, in skeletal condition having just had a litter of pups taken off her. Flite is a really gentle soul, still wondering what has happened in her world, but showing a beautiful disposition which is a real credit to Flite and her gentle nature . She is excellent on the lead, good with all other dogs and is an excellent traveller. We feel that Flite would be more suited to a quieter home, she would love her home comforts and could live happily with another dog. We hope to cat test her before too long as well. She is vaxed and neutered. For more information or to discuss offering Flite a home please contact - Sue Coldock 01928 714558 or Victoria Lyon (Ireland) 00353 9496 59276 e-mail : [email protected] View our website at: http://erinhounds.immink.co.uk/index.htm Hounds in our care currently looking for forever homes: http://erinhounds.immink.co.uk/homeplease.htm
  13. Jez has landed on all four paws and found just the perfect home for him, not far from his fosterers and now living with five cats and his new collie best friend .
  14. The beautiful Roxy has now been rehomed. She made her way to a special family home in Wiltshire, and is settling in very well .
  15. Are you looking for a gentle and loving family pet? or perhaps a brilliant companion dog for someone with mobility compromises? - then please let me introduce the beautiful Roxy . Please meet the beautiful Roxy, a very gentle fawn greyhound girl who has just turned 7yrs young. She hasn’t had much of a life so far but she hopes 2010 will be the start of better things for her, she certainly deserves it and has so much to offer a potential owner. Until now she has been used as a racing machine, during which she suffered two broken legs, one of which was untreated, she was then bred from excessively. Thankfully, all that is behind her now- she has been rescued from Ireland (where most greyhounds are bred) and is now using her gorgeous big brown eyes to look for a permanent home. Roxy is currently in a foster home and she really is proving to be the easiest of dogs around the house, clean, calm and loving - she is truly a lovely girl. Roxy is excellent with all other dogs too. Roxy isn't a dog with a need of too much exercise and would make a brilliant companion dog for someone with mobility compromises or as a family pet. Roxy has been spayed and vaccinated and is in a foster home in Cheshire. For more information or to discuss offering Roxy a home please contact - Sue Coldock 01928 714558 or Victoria Lyon (Ireland) 00353 9496 59276 e-mail : [email protected] View our website at: http://erinhounds.immink.co.uk/index.htm Hounds in our care currently looking for forever homes: http://erinhounds.immink.co.uk/homeplease.htm
