KGE are holding a live auction on Friday 14th May at 9pm. Until 6pm on Friday 14th we are accepting sealed bids by email. It works quite simply, so any bid you place is bid against anyone else in the room until your maximum is reached or you win the prize. Please note all bids will be verified. We have some fantastic prizes including signed original art by London artists, greyhound related items and vouchers for dinner, food etc (if you live in kent) - most items can be posted. The competition runs for the month of April and is £1 per entry. It is open to all dogs and will be judged independently of the charity so that we are not biased towards the greyhounds The theme is Hounds in Action which is an odd choice for a greyhound charity as all of dogs are too lazy for any action shots. There are 3 fantastic prizes The Prizes: Prizes will be offered for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. Prizes are as follows: 1st Place: Robin Bacchus of 'Captured on Canvas' is kindly donating her time to create a gorgeous hand painted portrait of your dog worth £280! You can either have a sitting with her or alternatively send various photographs so she captures your hound in all its glory. The Basics: The theme of the photo competition is 'HOUNDS IN ACTION' Entry fee is a donation of £1 per photograph, up to 4 photographs per person allowed. The competition is open to anyone including KGR trustees and volunteers as our judges are not affiliated with KGR. The closing date for entries will be Friday 30th April 2010 The closing date for payment of entry fees will be Wednesday 5th May 2010 Judging will commence on Thursday 6th May and results published Sunday 9th May 2010. Hello everyone I thought I would say hello introduce the charity. We are a small independent rescue based in Kent who rescue and rehome greyhounds and lurchers (and anything in between). Most of our dogs come from the North of England or Ireland and lots are ex poundie hounds. We are just coming up to our first birthday and have rehomed nearly 100 dogs. I find this unbelievable as when the charity started we thought we would rehome 20-30 per year, but we just found that by taking the homeless dogs out to lots of events they attract lovely new owners who fall in love with the breed. As a charity we try to accept as many of the harder to rehome dogs as we can and really love our black male greyhounds.
