Only Goretex ones will be waterproof.

Not these days blackmagic. Most boots are now waterproof but you do have to look after them and treat them with decent polishes like Nik-wax or sprays if they are of fabric construction to keep them waterproof.

I've worn waterproof boots for years now.

  2. Yes Suzeanna I agree on the Neighbours From Hell. Some of them are truly awful.

We live in a terrace & we've had problems with the nutty neighbour on one side but ever since I lost my temper with her, after a lot of provocation, she's not been too bad as she's very wary of me now. She till has her moments though. Mostly I just ignore her.

Out of 28 houses on our street only 10 have permanent residents and they all mostly came together in lockdown.

  3. Not a very nice day here although it's not raining. It's cold, our central heating kicked in this morning, and awfully grey.

I've re-started my diet and lost 5lbs to date. I shouldn't have gone off it during lockdown like I did. I gained a whopping 40lbs 😟 Never mind, I'll get it off. I know I CAN do it now!.

  4. I am only doing my best to keep the Benidorm Brigade away Eve 😂

Some visitors in a holiday house on our street were telling us that they've been coming for years but they've never met such awful people here before. Rude, pushy, arrogant, irresponsible and selfish were the words they used. And that's just the locals! No seriously they meant the horrible Benidorm crowds.

The weather is still grey and grim today.

  5. Oh I trust Ange to do things strictly by the rules Griff. It's just it will be very strange for me to go out & be in an enclosed space with someone other than Ruby after all these months.

To be honest I've preferred life this way. I'm not a people person 😂😂😂

  6. I need a proper haircut Owl but I'm nervous about making an appointment for sometime next month having been in lockdown and shielding for 6 months. Ange, my hairdresser, has her salon in her house and works alone so she will be seeing one client at a time. I think she'll now be leaving a gap between clients so they don't meet.

It's a much calmer day today weatherwise.

  7. Morning all. Awful weather here, grey, blustry and frequent showers of heavy rain.

The dentist rang me yesterday to cancel my 6 monthly check up & session with the hygienist next month. I was a bit iffy about keeping the appointments anyway. If I have any problems though they will see me so that's good to know.

  8. Morning Owl and everyone else.

I woke up to some really heavy rain. It's eased off now but it's not going to be a good day I don't think.

Ruby and I can start going out in September but we have to keep clear of people and not go into our town centre as some of the staff at the hospital have been through here and were shocked at the crowds & lack of social distancing and poor take up of mask wearing.

  9. Not quite as hot this morning as previous days. More thunderstorms are forecast but we've had a few now and it just gets more humid after each one. This weather can bugger off now.

Eve the Stonehaven derailment was indeed awful. It seemed like a very challenging location for the emergency services to get too but they met that challenge admirably.

  10. Eve I have no idea how or why those pathetic knobs thought the local lad was Jewish. I do know him and though he's not Jewish it wouldn't matter a jot if he was.

It was pleasantly warm, low 20'sC/70'sF yesterday and set to be the same today. I do feel for those sweltering in much higher temperatures elsewhere.

  11. Glad you got home ok Griff.

Sounds like a good plan to me Owl.

I'm waiting for a call back from the butchers so I can pay for my order. A friend is picking it up later today when she collects her own.

A local man got a load of abuse of a group of men yesterday because they thought he was Jewish 😱😡 They weren't local - this is the sort of visitors we are getting now. The chap reported them to the police.

  12. I'd love to live there blackmagic. It looks amazing. I'm sure you'll have no trouble selling it.

Better weather today. We might be able to sit out in the garden over the next week or so if the forecast is right.

Ruby has dialled into a work meeting this morning as she's feeling a bit better.

  13. Haaha blackmagic that made me chuckle about Cleo. Same as my George the night we got our car wheels nicked of the car which was pulled up right beside the front door. He slept right through but if I opened the fridge door whilst he was up the top of the back garden he'd hear that alright!

I happened across this site about dealing with pests in a kind manner so here's the link for anyone else who might be interested:

My posts keep disappearing. Over the past couple of days I've written and submitted some of my usual drivel but they haven't shown up on here. Think I'm becoming invisible 😨 lol

I think you might have posted in July after the August thread had started Eve. Also I sometimes think I've posted only come to find that I hadn't actually pressed the send button. Could that possibly have happened to you too??

  15. You should see the parking around here! They are even driving of the road to park on the lake shore!

Local cleaners are complaining bitterly about the mess left behind in the holiday lets. I can't even tell you what some have found it's so disgusting 🤮🤮

We seem to have a totally different sort of tourist who don't give a stuff about anyone but themselves. Locals are calling them The Benidorm Brigade. The local authority had to introduce a one way pedestrian system around the market square to try and cut down on the crowds not social distancing. There are big signs up every few feet but are they taking notice? Not on your nelly.

Ruby & I are rather glad now that we are cocooned at home.

  16. Watch for the ratties moving in when winter starts. Remember that dead rat pong we had in our house after our street and 2 or 3 around us had that rat problem? Uuurrggh I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Owl has seen a photo of one of our rattie visitors feeding his face on our bird table.

I love pet rats and wouldn't mind having a couple. They are descendants of wild rats but it took many, many generations to breed them to a domesticated level.

Blackmagic I hope you get a quick sale so you can go and get settled in Edinburgh. You are so right about 2020. It's been a 💩 year. It will be one that gets talked about & remembered for a very long time.

Griff I know nothing about this baked potato and as I don't want an ear worm going round & round in my head I'm not going to click play 🙃😂

  17. Good luck today Suzeanna.

Claiming because the holiday was cancelled due to Covid-19 Eve.

It's 21⁰ here already or 70⁰ in old money. Forecast set for a high of 28⁰ or 82⁰ here. At least that's not as high as some areas but too hot for me.
