  2. It is the same boy and he is living with my lot here in Hythe. This really was a case of everyone pulling together as this boy was due to be pts. GLWR had no space for him but offered to give him rescue back up, if I could foster him. Foster maybe not the right word , as he truly is a special boy, and my OH who collected him at Bristol is totally besotted with him. For my fans from Shawn the Sheep but you may call me Shawnie My horrible baldy bottom (please excuse the naughty bits). I was very unsure on my first night. Me relaxing a little. I love the noise of the washing machine I am getting settled now, this is me being silly and trying to look like a guard dog and just being nosey Boy am I handsome. (He looks so much more relaxed in this photo, taken today, than the one Annie posted where he still looks terrified.) I am so glad he made an impression on you Mich, and I understand what you mean he really has the X factor and he is such a babe. Thank you so much for helping him start his new life away from the trainer. I rehomed a dog from the same trainer last year and she is coming to stay this weekend as her mum is away. I can't wait to see them both together as he has the same expression and I sure he is her brother.
  3. Not quite the same but similar. This was on our local news tonight in Kent. 4 years ago a 7 year old was attacked by 2 ABTs. The news article made out that the boy was innocent of any crime and that his dad knew these dogs to be not child friendly. Then they bothered right at the end to mention that the child had jumped into the dogs garden for his football. They made out it was all the dogs fault, yet if you know about the dogs, you do not allow your child to jump over the fence for a ball, you get him to knock on the front door. Train the child as well as the dog. Years ago this was trespass The outcome was that a judge ordered that the dogs were pts. The owner appealled and the police today said that even after all the sentence then all the appeals there is nothing they can do. Even if he loses the next appeal, they cannot actually make him have his dogs pts, they can just send him to jail for comtempt of court. The owner has strung this out for 4 years and is not giving in and appears quite willing to go to jail to save his dogs. What is this saying about our law. The dogs were protecting their own land when they attacked the child (which I know was awful but!!), yet even if they judge says pts, the owner need not do this. I don't know how true this is as you know how they twist things in the press, but this is how it was reported.
  4. My 84 year old Dad is currently in the OAP ward, with heart failure. His care is wonderful and the nurses could not be kinder. Even over christmas and new year they were cheery and looked after him very well, even though he is getting very grumpy. Saying that I could not do their job EVER. My Dad is just poorly but quiet. There are others on the ward that would test the patience of a saint. One man keeps taking off his clothes (all of them) and running around the mixed ward. Another lady screams that people are trying to kill her for at least 14 hours a day in a very high pitched voice. The others are just plain very hard work. These nurses are wonderful, they look after the older people knowing that their care in the end probably will not help save a life, which must be a thankless task. I guess reading other posts that I am lucky my Dad is in the hospital he is. After visiting my head is spinning with the other patients, and I don't have any responsibility for them. Having said that the nurses work non stop, there are a lot of other workers on the ward in normal clothes that seem to do not a lot I think our nurses our wonderful, but with everything else going wrong with the NHS, I would rather be treated at my Vets
  5. Belle was stolen today from Maidstone RSPCA Kennels by a lady who walked in, said she had reserved her, then basically ran off with her into a waiting Range Rover. Her details are on dog lost - sorry but I don't have a photo to put on here but she is on that site. Our kennels are private boarding kennels, not advertised as RSPCA kennels, and are very difficult to find. Therefore the thief must be local although the dog could be anywhere. She is probably been stolen to order as a working dog. Please see the dog lost website & if you are local help with putting up posters etc. Belle maybe mentioned on radio 4 at 10am tomorrow in a phone in on stolen working dogs. Belle is a tan and white lurcher, not spayed, medium sized, possible crossed with a staffi. Please help us find Belle, she was due to be pts a few weeks ago & really needs to be found to go to her new home.
