  1. Thank you He does indeed have a lovely grin when he's happy I sent the photos to one of his "mums" in rescue (who got demoted to Auntie when I adopted him ) - it was her I had in mind when I asked if I could take the photos - and she is very proud of him too
  2. Hello, welcome to the Refuge A lot of people use http://www.photobucket.com to host their photos - if you can work out how to upload them to that from your computer, you just need to copy the IMG code from the photo in photobucket and paste it into your reply box on here. Good size for forum photos is about 640x480. Sorry if this sounds like a different language!
  3. Alex, I'm so sorry My thoughts are with you and your family
  4. I know Really hope someone comes through for him soon. He's so handsome too
  5. Thanks for all the replies I really hope some of the dogs mentioned find their forever homes soon. I also love Oldies Club Boysie and Emps. Well I love them all really. Yes Ian it really would be lovely if there weren't too many to list. There are just so many dogs looking for a home I do know of quite a few dogs around here who were adopted from rescues though, so that's good
  6. My ups and downs (they are me, they make me). My sensitivity, my passion (and sometimes short temper), my sometimes impatience, my love for my husband and my dogs, my photography, my love for all animals, my hair, my quirks. Reiki and chocolate Oh and I admit I'm a control freak, so I'm not sure about that theory

  8. No advice to add Sarah, but very sorry you are going through this :GroupHug:
  9. Happy Birthday Diesel  She's beautiful - and was a very cute pup (who isn't!).
  10. Thank you all I've thought the same about Sophie when I've seen video of her Thank you - and that's exactly it, if I took a photo of Mins with a child it would just be a cute photo as she loves children and I've made sure she has met lots since we adopted her, but with Sno it was such a special moment I know he will never be the kind of dog I can take just anywhere but it is lovely to realise his progress
  11. Sno has had very little direct contact with children, though he has increasingly got used to "hearing them", either playing at the local school or in nearby gardens when we're out walking. The other day we walked into a field to find two kids headed our way with a remote controlled helicopter type thing and although we didn't get up really close, they did fly it a few times and I was very pleased that he wasn't bothered by either the kids or the noise/movement of the toy. Yesterday we bumped into a lady with her daughter and a few dogs so we stopped for a chat. I was watching Sno carefully to make sure that he wasn't scared of the girl but she thought he was lovely and he seemed to return the feeling, he was very happy to be stroked by her - and she was a lovely kid and obviously very good around dogs. I was so pleased I asked the mother if I could take a few photos and she was very happy for me to do that, so here they are, of the two of them posing together, having met just a few minutes before I just love this one  Believe me he was feeling exceptionally comfortable with her to do that I was so over the moon with him and was almost in tears as we said goodbye Must also give Mins some credit as I am sure she has helped boost his (and my) confidence
  12. It's a well-know slogan, I've seen it on tshirts too (must get myself one one day). I love it.
  13. Bless him, he's still a cutie - with a very long nose
  14. Oh no, this is the second time she's gone missing isn't it Really hope she is found safely very soon. Will crosspost on facebook again.
  15. So, so sorry Jules :GroupHug: Safe journey Ollie

  18. Might be sinus problems, I had a sinus infection last year which was blimmin agony and had me in tears in pain and I ended up on ABs which is most unusual for me. Hope it is is less hurty soon  I nearly choked laughing at that. OMG. Please tell me someone was recording it on video at the time?!! Sorry you weren't around long enough to meet up, let us know if you're ever down this way again
  19. In Wilts, but I think it's partly where we are now, as we lived about a five minute drive away in our last house and while I don't recall how bad fireworks were there as we didn't have Sno then, I suspect things would be much worse that way as there are so many houses and no fields nearby. Whereas here there are far less houses and plenty of fields, so aside from traffic it's pretty quiet. On the flip side there does tend to be a fair amount of shooting but thankfully nothing close enough to freak him out generally on walks. I also think last year's noise was possibly better than it had been and wondered if the recession was responsible for that, so I'm hoping it might be quieter again this year. We do certainly get a lot going off nearby for a few nights and then the rest get used up, but I know others face them for weeks and weeks on end I don't think you'll find many if any people disagreeing with you here Laura I think most people could accept a few nights a year at organised displays, for whatever celebration is taking place, it's the going on for days/weeks on end and never knowing when they're going off. I never take Sno out after dark and I try to get him out for toilets before it gets dark, but then you have to wait until it's really late for the next toilet break as I do worry how he'll be if one goes off really close by and he's outside
  20. Happy Birthday Amy's dad Look forward to a gotcha day thread tomorrow then (for the little man, not your dad )
  21. So you don't need to "log-in to comment" in order to vote?
  22. Happy Gotcha Day Taffy! Not that I have met any of them but
