  1. Phew, very glad that she is ok It must be very stressful having to deal with illness in someone else's dog Tis very windy and rainy here, so glad we organised our family thing for yesterday and not today!
  2. Poor boy, so glad that he has wonderful people helping him You could notify Doglost of a dog found: http://www.doglost.co.uk I can't see any dogs on there reported as missing from the north west, which resemble your description, but they could list him as found in case his owners make contact. Really hope he has a loving family out looking for him, please keep us updated
  3. Laura, I just feel sickened by what those boys were doing to that poor dog What kind of an upbringing does someone have to want to do that to an animal (well to anyone, people throw fireworks at other people too don't they). I wonder what happened to the dog Good on the police officers. Very glad your friend's GSD was caught safely Phebe. It is so awful to think of all the animals that go missing/get hurt because of fireworks I am feeling extremely fortunate, having read through others' experiences in recent days. After the few we had the other day it's been very quiet. Rob said there were a few last night but he heard them when he was upstairs; thankfully the noise downstairs must have drowned them out as I didn't hear them and Sno definitely didn't. Not looking forward to later on this week, but feeling rather grateful right now.
  4. Morning. Just. We've been struck by the Bad Weather Fairy too Bit of a late response, but hope the dog is ok and it isn't pyometra God I'm dreading it There will be one extremely freaked out dog here and it's horrible You're getting a puppy?
  5. Very sorry to hear about Tru Run free Tru
  6. There are a few Vizsla around here, including the wirehaired one I photographed previously. We were talking to another dog walker recently when a Vizlsla dog appeared at the edge of the field - the guy said it was "a Polish Pointer or something like that", did make me laugh . We've been remembering Rob's granddad today as it was about a year since he passed away, so we had a walk in the forest with family and went for a coffee. Still feels very much as though he is around, it really doesn't feel as though he has gone
  7. According to the BBC: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/8333733.stm Has anyone seen these for sale?
  8. for those that need them. After the ones that went off in daylight things went quiet and we've had a peaceful evening. I know we are very "lucky" where we live, compared to many. I guess even in this recession some still have money to burn though - literally. Wishing everyone a peaceful-as-possible-weekend
  9. Keep self-treating anyway, even if you don't feel it, I bet it will be helping EFT is meant to be very good, always mean to give that a go. Take care
  10. Bless her  How are you doing Chasta? Love Archie's wagging tail
  11. I saw this on facebook a few weeks back :mecry: People are adding their name as a tag to one of the photos - link. (you may need to be friends with that person to add your name).
  12. Milly  Continuing to send Reiki and I know others are too
  13. Still I am grateful that they've not been going on for weeks as they have for others. Thankfully we got back to the dogs just minutes before they went off (it was still light mind) but poor Sno was shaking He's been dosed up, have persuaded him out for a wee with the promise of a fish bones treat and he's now gone to his crate (and is now helping daddy cook dinner). I leave him be if he's not in a blind panic. I think what some people don't realise is, that it's not just the immediate effect/reaction, but that for days and weeks afterwards it can be difficult to get your dog to go out into their own garden for the loo, that you have to be careful not to be out after dark (or earlier seemingly ), that you have to be careful what time you walk the dog etc. Why oh why can't they be available for public displays only. Thinking of all those animals who are scared and their people
  14. Poor cats, but yes hopefully the fact they are cute kittens and have been publicised in a national paper will mean they are now safe. Shame the same can't happen for all the other animals waiting on death row. I don't know why I read the comments under these things though. They just make me want to shoot people
  15. Lovely photo Alex Bl**dy fireworks
  16. Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that. Will move this to Rainbow Bridge. Run free Kerry
  17. I couldn't face watching it last night but I did see the BBC interview with her online the other day. A horrific thing to happen and yes, I thought she was a remarkable young woman too.
  18. I'm not sure the RSPCA would be able to do anything (not that they don't care but I don't think there's any legal restriction on how long you can leave a dog as I remember someone checking over a puppy). They do have company at least and shelter - but I would worry about how their staffie coats will cope with the cold weather if this is a long-term plan. Have you had a chance to chat with the woman? Who knows what has led her to this, perhaps while it's not ideal, she's doing the very best she can for the dogs right now and would be grateful for some support/offer of help if you're able? Am guessing you are home all day to know that she is leaving them unattended all this time and not coming back at lunchtime, so could you offer, as others have suggested, to go in and see them? I know you shouldn't have to but if they're friendly dogs and the woman said yes, it might be better for all involved, you included, if you could help? You might find out why they are outside and hopefully you'd be able to better judge the situation before doing anything further? Plenty of people seem to go out and crate their dog during the day, or leave them in a small room, with a break for lunch. At least these two have a bit more space than a crate and they have each other for company. As long as she's not leaving them out there 24/7 and she's giving them her time and attention when she is home and she's usually leaving them 7 rather than 13 hours a day(?) ... It's good that you care and are watching out for them and I wouldn't want to leave my own dogs in that situation, nor approve a home that did, so don't think I'm saying this is ideal, I suppose I'm just thinking she might have a valid reason for it. p.s. lovely to hear you have adopted a new doggie friend - have we had an introduction thread?
