  1. Oh Thumper..... Well despite all my colleagues being unaware of anything I've done wrong, my boss apparently has been keeping a 'log' and has to let me go because of the number of mistakes I've been making. Now I know it sounds like sour grapes, but perhaps if he'd been putting a bit more effort into training me and communicating with me, I wouldn't be in this position, sadly it's the old 'probationary' period thing and he can do just what he likes - and I 'd the job Feeling really really
  2. I've got my first performance review in my new job tomorrow - wish me luck please.
  3. I'm the Mother of the Groom at the end of the month, and I'm not sure I want to see his Dad there, seeing as we split up nearly 20 years ago, and he hasn't seen his son for about 15 of those years... Anyone got any hints? Apparently I will be on the top table, while his Dad will be at least one table away (I've told them that my aim has improved since 'the good old days' and I now longer throw coffee cups over arm - long story)
  4. Mischa Bryan and The Keys were the two top acts for me.
  5. Poor Charlie funnily enough, the new boy is a Charlie - Charlie Brown (to distinguish him from the other Charlie, a very chunky small black cob who actually looks like an overgrown Shitland
  6. Ponies name is Parker. Sadly my friend refused to let his owners daughter 'borrow' him for a 10 mile sponsored ride because he's not that fit - result was, they threw the teddies out of the pram and decided to use the clause in the loan agreement to claim him back without notice, so he went back to his old home today However, the yard owner had a lovely 4 year old bright bay Welsh Section C gelding whose only been ridden for a few months, so my friend has brought him! He had a bad start - owned by gypsies, gelded late, then thrown out with the stallions, who kicked 7 shades of whatsit out of him - he was found half dead in a ditch and pulled out with a 4X4. My friend and her daughter are already having lots of fun with him and they are all learning together.
  7. I went to play with my friends pony at the weekend. He's being ridden 'natural horsemanship' style, so ground work forms a part of his education, and even though I weigh too much for ridden work, I can do this, and I love it!
  8. So please to hear you've got another chance with the FF's. I'm guessing Madam won't be getting another chance..
  9. http://magicsownlittleworld.blogspot.com/2011/08/mad-about-boy.html The above link is for a Blog horse being clicker trained, including halter training - he actually puts his own head in the headcollar..
  10. Yeah for Poo! hope she continues to make good progress.
  11. Here's the pony my friend went to look at the other day - she's got him on loan for 3 months with a view to buying him. Here her daughter is riding him.
  12. Update - pony was duly viewed, and a 3 month loan with view to purchase was agreed. He's a lovely little (13.3) blue and white 'traditional cob'. Very people friendly (loves to lick your hands, arms, knees) he leans his chin on your shoulder. He seems like a nice ride too - although he's still a bit green (he's 7) it doesn't sound as if he's done very much. Goes barefoot (his feet look very good on it too) and lives out... Shame the yard is a 30 mile round trip from me, as it was a lovely place.
  13. Going to see a pony with a friend tomorrow (she's looking to buy her first ever horse after being animal mad for 40+ years) 14.2HH coloured cob..
  14. Mental illness does strange things - I hope none of you have to walk a mile in his shoes.
  15. Just seen your news on MSE, I thought I recognised her. So sorry to hear this news. Run free little lady.
  16. Thinking of you and Bumble (and Annie)
  17. Having spent 6 months enjoying 'early retirement' having been made redundant aged 50, I have 18 hours to prepare myself to going back to work! I applied for 5 or 6 jobs a week, and had to turn down one interview, as they needed somebody who could 'work under pressure' and that's not me. Then I was asked to go to an interview for a 4 hour a day job sharing admin post, but again 'thanks, but no thanks' (bugger - I thought I'd done a really good interview and would have loved the job!) Got a phone call from the company this morning - one of the two ladies they had taken on was a bit of a technophobe and was struggling, so could I start ASAP, like tomorrow! EEEEEKKKK!!!!
  18. In the middle of Roma by Steven Saylor - fascinating history of Rome, starting with Romulus and Remus, through Hercules, the setting up of the Senate and it's fall, vestal Virgins, building of the various Temples. It follows the descendants of two ancient familes all the way through, so if you like a historically accurate family saga, it could be for you. it's a great way to learn about Rome's history as Mr Saylor is a student of ancient history and knows his stuff. Looking forward to reading more of his work.
  19. I thought you might like to see the latest arrival at my local yard...

    Riley

I don't know if this helps, but I went with a friend to have her elderly cat PTS, it took multiple doses before he passed on, and it was difficult to watch, but the vet explained that because his systems were already shutting down, they weren't processing the chemicals in the anesthetic properly. Although it's distressing to witness, it's almost confirmation that all that is happening is accelerating the inevitable. Don't worry, Riley is busy exploring his new home, so he can show you his favourite places when you are ready to join him and all your other fur kids, past, present and future.
  21. I got a Kindle for my birthday last week, so I've started reading again, I've downloaded some samples and so far the most enjoyable has been 'It's your time you're wasting' it's about a supply teacher in a modern comprehensive - it's given me an insight into the world my children occupy and I can understand how they are thinking a lot better if this is what they have to put up with, it's a miracle they can learn anything!
  22. UPDATE - I did this yesterday, and was allowed to enter number of bags.
  23. He's got the right hump with you hasn't he? I'd agree, he does look as if he could still loose a bit - he's 'wintered well' hasn't he? I'm off for a tour of Spillers Mars feed mill later this morning with the Ride High girls
  24. I tell them my bags are in the car (I never take enough bags in with me), but I think now the option of putting in how many bags you use has been removed.
