  1. Thinking good thoughts for your MIL Michelle
  2. Don't keep 'em all to yourself Alicia, pass some over
  3. Me too Alicia. My lumpy eyebrow is now developing a small hole through which gunk is oozing in a most attractive manner (not!) #3 son has gone to school complaining of a headache - he's already had a week + off school and is in the 4th year (or whatever they call it now) so can't afford any more time off. I have a meeting with his tutor tonight as he's bright, but sooooooooo hard to motivate
  4. He now has a red/bruised looking patch in the area. He doesn't like his 'palatable' abs, so I have to rub them with some really smelly treats before he will eat them.
  5. You have my sympathy re wasp stings. Hint - draw around the outside of the itchy area, then you can see if it's getting bigger with time.
  6. Update - two ab's later, he's interested in 'stuff' again, and has let me lay the flat of my hand against the lump, so keep those good thoughts coming, they seem to be working......
  7. Thinking good thoughts for lumps and bumps. Went to Drs this morning - been suffering with 'tingling' on my face and scalp for just over a week, now a large 'spot' has come up on my eyebrow (no I haven't been plucking my eyebrows ;))it might be Shingles I have ABs to kill off any infection that may be there, but any changes I've got to go straight back as you don't want to mess with Opthalmic Shingles apparently.....
  8. I've got an infra red cooker with the glass bowl, and a combi microwave. If I had to choose between the two, I'd go for the microwave as it can be programmed to prove and bake the most wonderful bread (it has a 40 degree oven setting ;))
  9. Please think 'nasty infected lymph gland' thoughts, as if it isn't that - it could be a mast cell tumour He's got anti biotics and Metacam liquid to start with, and if no improvement by Friday, we need to sort out a 'clean cut' biopsy
  10. Now he has a lump in his groin. It feels 'odd' a bit 'square' if you know what he means. OH tried to get a feel last night and the big poofter(Barney, not OH)squealed as if he was being murdered (mind you OH is not the 'gentlest' of folk - if he hugs you, you know about it) Please send good thoughts for him
  11. Does anyone have any thoughts on bringing on a youngster? A friend of mine and her daughter have taken on a nice little 4 year old Sec D They are new to horses and are being guided by the YO who teaches 'natural horsemanship'. He's pretty green and unfit. When my friends daughter rode him on Saturday she was working him in trot for quite some time (maybe 40 mins)when he started bucking and cow kicking when being put under pressure. He also tried to scrape his rider off against the walls of the school. Soon after this he also started sweating. He'd been worked the previous day for maybe 2 hours in the school, mainly in trot - lots of being ridden at a wall and 1/4 turns away from the wall apparently... My gut feeling was he was tired - he'd had 'two days off' in the week, he gets a token feed of chaff and carrots. His owners don't seem to have any plan for getting him fit - they just spend as much time as they feel they can with him. The bucking was diagnosed as 'being lazy' and he was punished (hit with a 'string') and pushed on again. Am I being soft?
  12. My optician said they weren't suitable for somebody with my degree of astigmatism. I was getting crippling pain in my face. Initially they just said 'keep trying' 'it takes some people time' but then accepted (and refunded my money in full) that I was one of the few people who couldn't wear them.
  13. Do you really *need* varifocals? I was told I did, but they didn't take my astigmatism into account - it means I can't actually wear varifocals. Bifocals are probably a lot cheaper.
  14. Just booked our 'summer' holiday! Since I was made redundant in December, money has been tight, but I managed to last for 3 months in a job earlier in the summer, and we got a nice payout from our PPI mis selling claim, so we're going away for a whole week!Holiday Cottage It's not fancy, but it looks warm and cosy. We haven't been away as a family for about 5 years, and now my oldest is married, and the next one is 16, I don't suppose there will be many more chances...
  15. Jazz, just don't do what I did, which is work yourself up worrying about all the things that can go wrong. I didn't even cry! It was all so lovely, the Registrar's assistant was lovely and made jokes, which helped everyone relax.
  16. Yes, I saw Nature's Giants (poor horse ) I thought it was fascinating, especially the way the lungs expand. Have you tried Loki in a hackamore or similar?
  17. Thought you might like to see. I'm standing next to the groom, my other two sons are standing next to the bride, and 'The Ex' is on the far right.
  18. Can you agree a prefered place for her to put them? Like a bird table or similar. Is she putting them out for specific animals
  19. I guess it's to rule out 'guarding or protection' dogs, or the possibility of the dog biting somebody on your employers premises.
  20. OK, I'm 51, came back into work 4 years ago after child rearing and running my own Puppy School (Gwen Bailey's franchise deal). Had to give up the PS as OH works shifts, so it was cutting into our 'family time' - he's still doing shifts so going back is not an option. My background is in Admin/accounts/customer service, but since 2009 I've been treated for depression/stress and I suffer with 'brain fog' which leads to mistakes I would never normally make - I've now lost two jobs for making mistakes, which has really undermined my confidence. As a result, I feel I can't go back into office based work. Ideally I'd like to work in kennels or stables, but I have a 'dodgy back' and I'm overweight (very - not the sort of overweight that's gone in a few weeks or months of dieting) So - what can I do where it doesn't matter is I screw up again?
  21. Well, I'm sorry, but this is what I first thought of........
  22. Well that was the point OH was trying to make, it wasn't helped by the fact that she'd already taken it to the CAB who told her they didn't really understand what it was all about, but she should 'get it sorted' - none of them noticed the letter was 11 years old! She doesn't even live close by, so it's not just a case of popping round there, it's an hour and a half drive.
  23. OH has been on the phone to his Mum for nearly an hour - she's in her mid 70's, lives on her own since her Mum died in nasty circumstances about 6 years ago. She has had a looooong disagreement with her neighbour, which ended up going to court about 12 years ago. The court found against her (OH's Mum) and to pay the court costs, a charge was put on her house. Fast forward to last year, when she received a letter addressed to her neighbour, but at MIL's house number, saying the house @ MIL's house number was now paid for and belonged to Mrs X. MIL has recently found some paperwork from the court dated 2000 and is convinced that something is going on that she doesn't know about and that Mrs X actually owns her house.......
  24. If you can insulate the whole shed, can you insulate the area around the FF? If it must go beside the radiator - can you turn the radiator off?
