  2. I've complained several times in the past about this particular postie Griff and he's had a hell of a telling off from me too after he was nasty with Archie. They don't seem to want to do anything about him. As the rest of the posties are lovely and often go the extra mile for us I don't want to go to a higher level than the sorting office manager for fear of getting them all told off or sanctioned in some way. Ruby wasn't bothered as the contents were in perfect condition so she said "let it be". She's had loads of pressies. Her staff got her a lovely sponge cake decorated with pencils made of fondant, a bunch of flowers, a silk scarf and a matching silver necklace and ear-rings. Others in her company treat their staff like shite but it's always been Ruby's philosophy to treat others as she likes to be treated and it comes back in spades to her as they are very loyal to her.

  3. Have you ever tried the tanning booth, Griff? where they turn you round like a spit roast? Philip just came back from walking Candy and said he'd been round the field and was coming back down the jitty and met this group of late teen/early twenties standing near the end in clouds of very aromatic smoke. He said they were very chatty and complimented him on the fact his sunglasses matched his t shirt. I said never mind that, didn't you ask them where they got the stuff from?😏

  4. Anything that prolongs your independance is a good thing Suzeanna. No compensation required - you get 3 points for a pensioner, 4 for an annoying brat and 6 for anyone taking a selfie 😂

  5. Neighbours 2 doors along, the ones whose collie likes to race Wispa along the gardens, called across to me with a lovely offer. They do not need a delivery slot they booked with ASDA 2 weeks ago as they have managed to go and do a shop. So they have offered me the password so I can use their slot.

  6. This should give you all a laugh...I've been having the odd Tena Lady moment as I've been coughing so hard. I don't have any Tena Lady, but I do have a pack of Bodyform I got when the letrozole caused bleeding, so I thought one of them would do. Unfortunately, being sleep deprived and not really looking at what I was doing, it wasn't until I plonked one in place and pulled up my knickers that I realised I'd got the sticky side against me, not the underwear!

  8. He clearly hasn't got any kind of handle on this one. If he hasn't seen the conflict in your family for himself he may find it hard to imagine how serious it is. I have had a chat with my sister (not mentioning your name but explaining the situation) because in her years as a minister she has had to organise help for various people in crisis. There should be an Emergency Housing Officer attached to your council who should be available outside normal office hours, and because of your serious health problems combined with threat of violence you should qualify as a vulnerable adult. This would mean that the council are required to provide housing under an Act in 2014. Worth following up.

  10. Anyone who is feeling down wants a laugh and doesn't mind rude language, find Fascinating Aida singing "Dogging". Philip was nearly in tears with laughter listening to them. There is another they've done but I won't recommend that one, it's extremely bad language. Philip keeps in touch with the people he used to work with, and a few weeks ago was Skyped by one of his female friends, saying her husband kept having bad headaches and now blackouts and was going for an MRI scan. She messaged Philip again yesterday, Sean had the results of the scan...a tumour, but until he's seen by the relevant department they wont know if it's benign or not. She was asking how he/we cope with knowing I have serious health issues and Philip told her all you can do is live life as normal, until the day that it isn't. I think that's the only way to deal with things, so anyone waiting on a diagnosis (Griff) or with family or friends in that position, act as if everything is fine and hopefully you'll find that it is. Thus ends the sermon for today.

  11. Best of luck with the scans Lol..sardine Sunday.. brilliant Hopefully ruby's eyesight will be back to usual soon. I am going to party party party tonight and for once in my life my mum won't care how much I drink

  12. No, didn't know there were any. My husband is a comedian! Our hamster has turned out to be rather reclusive, Philip was peering into its cage last night and I said any sign? He said yes, a tiny one by his house, it says f off!

  13. I can confirm you are no minger Griff, quite the opposite. And Steve is far too complex a person for it to be as simple as not wanting to be seen with you. Think of him as a rescue dog, where you don't know the full background, and with many issues that need worked through gradually. Which you're doing brilliantly.

  14. I'm sitting in the ward but finally my stats have gone up after loads of oxygen, steroids, antibiotics and 4 sessions on a nebulizer. I might get out tonight. They know I am keen to go. I am loads better and feel grand now. Just waiting for dr to OK it.

  15. 😂😂 Suzeanna. I know a fellow Cumbrian who just cannot be doing with Geordies. He hates the accent & more than once has been set upon by a drunken bunch of them over here on holiday when he was a young man. He took up genealogy later in life so imagine his face the day he found out he was descended from a long line of them on one branch of his family tree 😂😂😂😂

  16. Just checking all is in order because of the trouble my asthma has been giving me Suzeanna. I was always a very "chesty" child and got frequent bouts of bronchitis & had whooping cough as well as the asthma. Oh yes, I've got my diabetes levels right down and if I continue at this rate I will end up out of the diabetic range. I'm going to go for it.

  17. had a busy couple of days last weekend with visitors but they enjoyed themselves, despite the language barrier. It was their first time out of Romania and were amazed at the shades of green in the vegetation. They have grass for a month or two. Outside that it is too hot or too cold. My nephew went gluten free and says he feels much better for it. He is a PE teacher who plays sport in his free time so needs his health and energy. I cut down some overgrown rhododendrons yesterday. They were taking over the bit of garden. The space is bigger now. Some branches were thick and were difficult yo cut, Last night and this morning I could hardly move my right arm. It is slightly better now but my elbow is painful. JIm is still in a lot of pain in his chest. She thinks it is scarring from the drain removal and should resolve itself. After we told her about our last appointment fiasco she contacted the oncologist and he agreed to another CT and blood test before his appointment on Tuesday. Only problem was the CT machine was broken. It was fixed on Friday so a scan was arranged for Monday. I think she is just being cautious- I hope so. Meantime he is dozed up with Morphine and anti inflammatories and spends more time asleep then awake. I hope you can return to normal life soon , griff. Having nightmare neighbours is no fun. You should be able to lead your own life without interference from people like that.

  18. Very sad Griff. Poor man, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Very happy to help Owl whenever. Just shout 👍 I sent my DNA sample off today though they've changed the collection times so I missed today's collection. It will take 6-8 weeks anyway from when they get the sample. I may be told that I am related to some archaic grain as I noticed a tiny bit of my breakfast went in the pot. I had gluten free flakes made from foodstuffs typical of an iron age diet. They were shite 🙁

  25. I'm not planning for Christmas until a few weeks before the event, just in case. I only really do it for the children, we don't celebrate Christmas as the birth of Christ for the simple reason that we aren't Christians, I just like the pretty lights! My husband proved how much he loved me earlier, we were eating our scrambled egg and bacon when my latest radiotherapy area started to burn and itch, he put down his knife and fork and came over to blow on the offending place for me to cool it down! Greater love has no man..... He bought a rowing machine a few days ago (getting alarmed by his tummy expanding!) so we are both using it. Candy is rather bewildered by it, she sits watching whoever is on it going backwards and forwards a bit like watching a tennis match!

  26. Hope you recorded it on your phone Griff, handy evidence for the police if needed. Eve, some of your weather seems to have wandered down here, sun is shining for the first time in ages! If it stays bright we're ...hold your breath...going for a drive to the Peaks. If any cop stops us I'll wilt down in my seat and do my best "poor cancer patient wanting to see the moors" act!

  27. I'm baffled. I've joined the ranks of the folk losing things that should be obvious! I've got two bright pink plant pot holders, the sort with a hanger that you can put on a fence. The fence is really overgrown with shrubs now, I took one off last summer and put it by the planters on the floor, the other was still on the fence. I promised them to my daughter...took the one on the fence off, looked for the other and it's totally vanished! It's not huge but it's not tiny either, how can it not be visible? Had to move the scooter so I could get the garden and recycling bins out and did a neat turn on the driveway without hitting anything. I've decided to call it the Chariot of Fear..not sure if I mean mine or other people's! Hippie Motors do some good stickers, I'm going to personalise it. Philip suggested jacking it up at the back so it would bunny hop but I think that's a step too far.

  28. Philip was chatting to Tracy just now when he was walking Candy and she was walking Cookie. She's the one who had a double mastectomy and immediate reconstruction. She said the healing was going ok but it was still very sore and hurt inside and they just don't feel like hers! He assured her they look fine (strange chats, my husband has!) Then a woman came out of her house, ready to join in the clap for the NHS, wearing her dressing gown and flung it open to display what she was wearing underneath...he said he beat a quick retreat before anyone else joined in! Honestly..it's not safe out there for a male on his own.

  29. I used to work with a lovely girl who misheard the lyrics to Poetry In Motion. I had to stop and listen one day when she was singing along to as I wasn't 100% sure I had heard right. I had. She was singing "Oh a tree in motion". Every time I hear the song now it makes me giggle. I'm not perfect though. I thought that Neil Diamond song Forever In Blue Jeans was The Reverend Blue Jeans for years until someone put me right. Oh and Prince Charming by Adam and The Ants was Prince Chow Mein.

  31. My god mother was in the Special Operations Executive in WW2, and was parachuted into occupied France. She kept some of the things they were given in a securely locked box at home but she showed me once and they included the cyanide pill they were given in case of capture, and a few other James Bond like gizmos. Never mentioned grenades though!

  32. I used to live in Llanarth, a village on the main West Wales coast road, about 10 miles south of Aberaeron. The village primary school was on this road near a busy crossroads which led down to Newquay. Typical "Show and Tell" day, with all manner of items being brought in. Then this little lad said he had something which his great great great grandpa had brought back from France where he fought in the war. Everyone was impressed and he had a brief moment of pride ... before he pulled a grenade out of his schoolbag and put in on the teacher's desk. Quick-thinking teacher cleared the school and phoned police. In minutes the bomb squad were scrambled and on their way from Hereford. Police put up blocks on main road. This caused delays throughout a large section of the road, and there are no ways to get round the Llanarth crossroads which do not entail narrow winding lanes and horrendous hills. Not good for HGVs and buses. A few hours of traffic chaos before bomb squad safely defused the thing, which was live. The British grenades contained not only explosive but pieces of metal to cause maximum damage. The incident was on the front page of the Cambrian News. Rather embarrassing for the family.

  33. Thorough washing with soap and hot water is best, apparently, but hand sanitizer very useful as a protective barrier when out and about. I don't know that a harness stops pulling but it spreads the pulling area and makes it less of a tug of war. There is no way I could handle Wispa without one. It's good to have 2 leads, again to spread the pulling area. I have one to harness and one to neck, but 2 to harness is fine if you have 2 places to connect them. Mice have learned not only to take peanut butter bait and get out of traps, but had the cheek to drag some bits of stolen onion in there. When mice start using the trap as a handy storage area, you have the wrong trap. These are the multi-mouse traps that we caught so many in last year. This lot are obviously much smarter.

  36. Hi everyone. Hope you all had a good Christmas 😊 Unfortunately, for a number of reasons, our home wasn't suitable for Lily, so she's being rehomed through a reputable rescue. One of their staff runs a collie group so Lil may be rehomed through them, which would be ideal for her as she'd love to do agility or flyball. Not an easy decision but I'm certain it's the right one for Jac and Lil. Jac appears to prefer older dogs as his new Bessie is a 13 year old collie cross called Bruno 🥰

  37. I managed to get a sit and wait appt at the doctors, and said I thought it could possibly be connected to the change in my blood pressure medication, as the breathlessness had started then, but not the cough. He agreed, and said I shouldn't have been taken off the felodipine at all, as it opens up the blood vessels and makes the heart work more easily, and Ramipril, which the blasted woman doctor had doubled the dose of, is known for causing a cough and shortness of breath. He's put the meds back to what they were but said if it's not right in a few days go back, and if it's really bad ring an ambulance. He did say my lungs are clear, and my heart had a good steady beat, which is a miracle as I often suffer from atrial fibriallation! I hope it doesn't happen again, it really scared me. My dear old gran would have said I was wheezing like a broken down mare! Not coughing now, but ears aren't right. Well, one is left, but you know what I mean.

  38. Enjoy it all Griff. Good to hear you are feeling so much better now 👍 I have 2 winter coats which I haven't worn in a while because I couldn't fasten them up due to my fatness. Well now I'm 3 stone lighter not only do they do up but I can wear a thick jumper under them 😁

  39. That sounds perfect Owl Had my phone appointment with my own GP. First thing she said was "wow, you gave everyone a scare last week". Anyway she's booked me in to the asthma clinic on Tuesday just before my flu jab appointment but told me if I start having any sort of problem before then to call. Receptionists know to put me right through.

  40. Was nice here too today, couple of light showers but sunny otherwise. Got loads done in the garden so tired and achey, but enjoyed myself. Can't do Christmas shopping this early. Haven't got so many to buy for nowadays but December is early enough for me. I'm sure you'll be fine Owl. It's always daunting thinking about the journey but what a relief when you've done it and can just relax and enjoy the holiday. That sounds weird Griff. I do hope Carl WAS dead when he was cremated lol (sorry if innapropriate humour).

  42. If he's still alive, but unconscious..as they say hearing is the last sense to go, I suppose it would be viewed as very cruel to tell him what's going to happen when he's dead? Then again..if he is a cruel man, could be just what he deserves. Sorry..I'm not nice am I?

  43. I've been to the doc's and have to have a chest x-ray at our local cottage hospital. My GP put the x-ray request in the computer system. The radiographer is at the hospital every morning 9.30 to 12.30, no appointment necessary, just turn up and you'll be seen. Brill!

  44. You know what they say Snow..better a week too early rather than a day too late. If the poor lad is in pain, won't take his meds so the pain can't be relieved and his heart is worsening fast, I think the decision is being made for them. So sorry.

  45. Only odd thing that happened to me today was going into polling station and giving my surname and address and being told I was not registered to vote. Excuse me, I certainly am. You can't be, we only have Danzil R P Cooper registered. That cannot be you. Yes it is. Man looks very doubtful but I can get ID from car if needed. He consults the other two poll officers and they accept that I am me. That was reassuring as I had started to wonder who the hell I am.
