Jason is a 9 year old toy poodle who came into Oldies Club care after his previous owner sadly died. He is in an Oldies Club foster home in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. His foster carers tell us that it took Jason about a week to settle with them.

After the death of his owner Jason stayed briefly with relatives, but they were out for 10-12 hours a day and so Jason was left on his own. He is now learning that if his foster carers go out, they will only be out for 2-3 hours and will then return.

Jason is great with dogs and with children. He’d like a home where he won’t be left on his own for long periods.

His foster carers say:

“Jason is a lovely dog but he is still quite nervous. He adores men. He is fine around dogs and so he could probably live with other dogs. He ignores big dogs but sometimes wants to introduce himself to smaller ones. As for cats, we don’t know how he is with them.

We have 3 children (aged 15, 10, & 7) and Jason is very good with them. They take him for walks and he is always up for lots of cuddles. He will take himself off to his bed if he wants some quiet time. Jason walks lovely on the lead and enjoys long or short walks. He will also walk to heel. We haven’t let him off lead as his previous owners said his recall wasn’t good, but with training this could change. Jason is very good travelling in a car and we have taken him on long trips to Cornwall with no problem.â€

And having a paddle!

“Jason loves chicken, treats, baths and plenty of attention! He doesn’t like balls or playing games. He isn’t keen on waves but is happy in flat water. He loved his recent holiday though — a week on the beach and staying in a tent.â€

Jason has been vet checked and he is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated. The vet has said that Jason has a slight heart murmur but this is nothing of great concern, it just needs monitoring. He is not on any medication.

His foster carers sum up Jason as “laid back, relaxed, cuddly and well behaved. If you are looking for a dog that is not hard work, friendly, loveable and a great companion, Jason is it.â€
