Tyson needs a foster home or a permanent home

Tyson is an 8 year old German Shepherd Cross (mum was German Shepherd x English Bull Terrier, Dad was pure German Shepherd). As you can see he is a very handsome chap!

Tyson came into Oldies Club care after being left for long hours in his previous home. He is currently temporarily in kennels near Milton Keynes, but we would love to see him move into a home environment as soon as possible on either a foster or permanent basis.

Whist in kennels he’s been assessed by the resident trainer/behaviourist, who tells us that Tyson is quite an insecure dog who needs calm, consistent leadership and an experienced handler who can help build his confidence. He is an intelligent dog who has responded extremely well to training, and would love a home where this could be continued.

Tyson is an affectionate, loyal dog - if you are holding the lead you are his best friend, and he will look to you for guidance. In the past he has shown the GSD trait of ‘guarding’ his owner from passers-by, but a firm heel command is all that’s needed to keep him focussed and at your side.

Understandably in view of his past, Tyson is worried about being left, so will need someone able to deal with his separation issues and with the time and patience to build up absences gradually.

Tyson has lived with other dogs and cats in the past, but he thrives on one-to-one attention and can be jealous if he has to share so we feel he would be best as the only pet in his new home, however we wouldn’t rule out rehoming him with another quiet dog after sensible introductions.

Tyson is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and worm and flea-treated.
