I have changed a setting temporarily which means that the topic views (the number that shows how many times a topic has been read) is only being updated every 3 hours instead of immediately.

I want to see how much of an improvement this makes to the boards speed as its meant to really speed things up.

If it works and isn't causing loads of grief then I may keep it that way.

If however the performance increase is minimal or it causes loads of hassle I will revert it to how it was.


So if it looks like no one is reading your posts then it may just be because the topic views hasnt updated.

or it could be cos you smell and no one likes you



for the geeky out there:

when the topic views table is updated it temp locks the table. by only updating every 3 hours the theory is that the table is locked much less (once every 3 hours in fact) so the impact on the CPU is lowered.
