Peggy And Scoobie

PEGGY and SCOOBY

Peggy and Scooby are two 6 year old greyhounds who are brother and sister. Peggie is the white and fawn girl and Scooby is the black laddie. Though they look like a bit of an odd couple, they get on fantastically together and we don’t have the heart to split them up!

Peggy and Scooby were originally known as Peg and Scholes, but found themselves with new names when they entered their foster home. The tragic fact is these 2 hounds have been waiting for their forever home since 2009, and despite their beautiful wagging tails and friendly faces, have been overlooked again and again for what is now years. To see these two hounds placed in a permanent loving home would make our day here at Kerry Greyhounds UK. Can you be that special someone?

These guys are both ex-racers who worked hard for the first 5 years of their lives, and now really deserve to retire to their soft sofas. Both are well-rounded, friendly dogs who love to give cuddles and walk beautifully on the lead. They also enjoy playing with each other, and will keep each other occupied when left alone. <br style="mso-special-character:line-break"> <br style="mso-special-character:line-break">

** UPDATE: JUNE 2011 **

Peggie and Scooby have now been in their foster home for approx. 4 weeks, and are becoming well settled. They are ready and waiting for their forever homes, with very few issues holding them back. We have gotten to know them much better now that they are in the close contact of a loving foster home, and it is a joy to see their characters blossom.

~ Personality ~

Peggie and Scooby are two very lovable hounds who are quite suited to each other. They are both very friendly and affectionate, and will not hesitate to shower you in kisses if your face is anywhere near their reach!

Peggie is definitely the queen of the two, and Scooby is her loyal follower. They can be a bit bouncy and excitable, especially around walk time, but they are gradually calming down and settling. This can only improve with time and gentle patience. They are both quite playful and are experimenting with all the new toys they’ve been given – it really is their 7th Heaven! They also have the greyhound habit of pinching random household items and carrying them around – slippers and sofa cushions are a favourite with these two. They never chew the items they take, just move them around.

<br style="mso-special-character:line-break"> <br style="mso-special-character:line-break">

~ In the Home ~

These two adorable hounds have gotten used to the initially strange and mystifying household sights and sounds, and are content and relaxed in the home. Though both had accidents at the very start, they are both housetrained now and will happily wait to go outside to toilet. Peggie is a bit of a scavenger at the moment and will try to raid the kitchen counter if given the chance. This is being worked on by their fosterer and it shouldn’t be too long before this habit ceases. They are quiet and clean through the night, though they are still living on ‘racing kennel time’ and like to wake up for their morning walk at 6am! Their fosterer is also working on this and is slowly introducing them to the joys of sleeping in, especially at the weekend!

Peggie and Scooby would be well suited to a fairly active home who would spend time each day taking them out and showing them the big wide outside world. Due to their mad moments of bounciness, they would be best going to a home without young children as they may bowl them over without even realising it. Peggie and Scooby could live with other large to medium sized dogs quite nicely, but can go as a pair to a home without other dogs too. This pair have been waiting incredibly long for their forever home and we hope they will find their new family in the very near future. They really do have oodles of love and loyalty to give, and are sure to keep their new owners well entertained with their antics.

~ Other Animals ~

Peggie and Scooby are sharing their foster home with 3 other dogs and have been good as gold with them all. Out on walks can be a slightly different story, however, and Scooby in particular can be a bit keen on the small dogs he meets along the way. This is a common initial problem with ex-racing greyhounds as many will have never seen a non-greyhound shaped dog before and so do not initially realise the small dogs are indeed dogs. Lots of positive socialising will teach Scooby that dogs can come in small sizes too. Once he realises they are indeed dogs, Scooby is very good and mannerly. Neither are cat friendly.

~ Where Am I? ~

Peggie and Scooby are currently in foster care in Milton Keynes, UK. They can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet and collect them.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~

Peggie and Scooby are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you are interested in adopting these two hounds, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Thanks!

Beautiful 3 Year Old Long Haired Chihuahua In Chester, Cheshire

Sadly Cody is looking for a new home as a family member brought Cody and after only a few days of having cody that they weren’t not aloud dogs in their appointment I am currently looking after Cody until a suitable home can be found for him. Cody is a real charter! He loves other dogs and would deffo need to always live with other dogs and likes to sleep curled up next to a dog at night .. He also gets on brilliant with cats! And has even won over my cat! Cody loves his walks and always stays near you when off lead and when your in the house he likes to follow you around to see what your up to! And gives you the biggest welcome home when you get home and jumps around like he hasn’t since you in ages even if it has only been a hour! Lol. Even though cody is brilliant with dogs he knows he gets shy around dogs he doesn’t know he is NOT snappy he just avoids them but will “tell them off” if large dogs are over excitable with him but I think this is more fear of being knocked over as he is only little for big dogs to be jumping around him! he gets a little shy when first meeting new people but is fine after a bit. Cody’s house training needs improving.. the last owners said cody was house trained and they had a cat flap which cody used to go outside for the toilet but we do not have a cat flap. due to my work I have found it hard to train cody to always go outside for the toilet. we feel he needs someone who is patient with him but cody is a clever dog so he will work it!. Cody’s last owners didn’t walk their dogs which means cody is not very used to busy roads ect and gets a little scared when walking by them. but i have been working on this with him and he is really improving and feel if someone is willing to put the time and patient in, cody will become the perfect little dog as he really has the making of it! .....Cody is a lovely dog with a sweet nature who really doesn’t deserve to be moved around so much if you feel you can offer cody a loving forever home then please get in touch. Cody needs a home with other dogs, no young children, daily walks and lots of love and a secure garden as he loves to sit in the sun! also all of his jabs, flea and worming treatment is up to date

also if any rescue's feel they can help me rehome cody i would be really grateful i would like cody to stay with me until a good home can be found but would like a home check to be carried out and maybe a Donation can go to your rescue for this service.

Humbug

HUMBUG

Meet the adorable little munchkin that is Humbug. He is a whippet x lurcher pup who was found straying with no parents or family in sight. He is approx. 12 weeks old and has a pretty brindle coat with the cheekiest face you can imagine! Humbug has been in foster care for a few weeks now, and has put on lots of weight and condition. He now looks like a very healthy puppy, and not the thin, scraggly lost boy he was when he first came. He is growing fast now, but shouldn’t end up much bigger in height than a large whippet.

~ Personality ~

Humbug is a little sweetheart. He is an absolute delight to be around; his antics always keep a smile on your face. He is a complete mummy’s boy and adores getting hugs and cuddles, but also has a rough’n’tumble side and loves to play. He is fast becoming a well balanced, grounded little pup who loves everyone and everything. He is responsive to training and has already learned his name, though like all puppies his age, he still has a slightly short attention span! In typical young puppy style, Humbug adores his naps and will just flop down on the sofa for 40 winks – and no amount of shaking will wake him!

~ In the Home ~

Humbug has been in his foster home for about 3 weeks now, and is doing brilliantly. He sleeps soundly through the night, and his foster family leave him alone for periods during the day so that he won't develop separation anxiety. He is coping with this alone time quite well. As with all puppies, Humbug likes to chew, but his chosen 'toys' (slippers, chair leg, garden pebbles!! etc.) are quickly replaced with a rag dog toy which he loves. He adores his grub, and is being fed 3 or 4 meals a day. Sometimes he can get a bit grumpy if he doesn't want to do something, but he is learning that this is not acceptable behaviour. He has now mastered the art of house training, and will happily take himself outside to wee throughout the day. Please note that he may have a few mishaps when he first moves home, but this will stop once he becomes settled in his new home.

~ Other Animals ~

Humbug is being socialised with a variety of animals in his foster home, including dogs, cats, horses, hens, ducks, geese and even a pig! He gets on brilliantly with the two staffies he shares his home with, and these two older, well balanced dogs are teaching him the do’s and dont’s of dog socialising and play. Humbug likes nothing more than to curl up with his two staffy ‘brothers’ in the evening, and often shares their bed during the night. Humbug is also accepting of the family cats and is learning to respect their boundaries.

~ Out and About ~

Humbug is a joy to take out, and makes his foster parents proud. He enjoys being outside, exploring the vegetable patch, the long grass paddock, and hiding under the car with the resident cats! He entered his first dog show recently and was a little star with everyone and every dog there. He walks very well on a lead and collar even though he is still just learning what it’s for.

Humbug would be well suited to a variety of homes. He can live with other animals quite nicely and really enjoys being around other dogs. As he is just a pup, he would benefit from an active family who would take him out and show him the world. He has oodles of potential and may have a hidden talent for agility waiting to blossom. Kerry Greyhound Connection strongly recommends that Humbug’s new owners take him to training and/or socialisation classes early on so that he can continue to develop his social skills. This boy has the potential to be that perfect canine citizen and only needs a continuation of the training his foster home has started. With consistent boundaries in place from day one, Humbug is guaranteed to be that perfect family dog.

~ Where Am I? ~

Humbug is currently being fostered in Ireland and will be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK when a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Please note that adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point to pick him up, and if you are in the UK and wish to meet before adopting him, he will be fostered in the Norfolk area.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~

Humbug is vaccinated, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. Due to his age, Humbug is not yet neutered, so potential adopters will need to agree to have this done once he is old enough (at approx. 6 months). Kerry Greyhound Connection may ask for a deposit on the neuter fee as a guarantee before adopting Humbug.
In an ideal world we would love to find a home for these girls together, but we will home them separately if the right families come along. Tara is a very pretty girl with a blue coat and striking amber eyes. She is 26” to the shoulder with a slender build, and has the most amazing ears!
Tara is a new girl to our kennels and we are still assessing her. So far, though, she has been a real star of a girl and we can’t yet find fault in her. She is beautiful in both appearance and personality, and enjoys getting a good ear scratch in the mornings.

~ Other Animals ~

Tara is well behaved with the other greyhounds in the kennels and has not caused an ounce of trouble. She has also been very mannerly with the small dogs she has met so far, and will greet them politely before continuing on her way. This girl would do well in a home with another canine buddy, or most ideally with her sister Tessa. She is not cat friendly.

~ In the Home ~

Tara has not been in a home environment before, so new owners will need to be a bit patient during the first couple of weeks and allow her time to settle in and learn the home rules. It generally takes 10-14 days for new greyhounds to start to settle down in a home, and really all they need is a bit of time and patience. This girl is sure to love the home life, and will make such a striking addition to your home.

~ Out and About ~

Tara is well behaved on the lead and walks to heel. Like most greyhounds, she will not need a huge amount of exercise. She will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch her legs offlead in a secure area once or twice a week. This girl is guaranteed to be a real eye-catcher when out on walks!

~ Greyhounds as Pets ~

In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

~ Where Am I? ~

The beautiful Tara is currently being kennelled with her sister Tessa in Ireland, and will be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe when a suitable foster or permanent home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Please note that adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point to pick her up, and if you are in the UK and wish to meet before adopting her, she will be fostered in the Norfolk area.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~

Tara is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This girl would greatly benefit from being in a foster home, and Kerry Greyhound Connection is always in desperate need of new fosterers. It is such a rewarding experience, and costs are covered by the rescue.

RONNIE

Ronnie is a 3.5 year old ex-racing greyhound boy. He is a lovely slender boy with a black tuxedo coat that will be so sleek and shiny when he loses the last of his kennel coat.

~ Personality ~

Dear Ronnie is such a sweet boy but is so very nervous. He has spent all his life in racing kennels so many of the common, every day sights and sounds that we take for granted are very frightening for him. It is obvious that he really wants to join in with the attention and fuss but is just too scared right now. Interacting closely with people is a new concept for this boy and he needs a bit of time to adjust to this new life. It is very sad to see such a lovely dog so scared and confused.

~ Other Animals ~

Ronnie is, however, very good and reliable with other dogs of all shapes and sizes. Going to a home with at least one other dog is a must for this boy as it will help him so much. He is quite comfortable with other dogs and given a calm, quiet environment we don’t think it will take too long for him to start to trust people. Ronnie has not been tested with cats but may be cat friendly – this test will be carried out in the near future.

~ In the Home ~

Sweet Ronnie has just moved out of kennels and into a foster home. The close contact and loving TLC of a foster home is exactly what this boy needs to start to flourish. He is finding the transition quite scary but is starting relax now. We will update with his progress once he settles a bit more and starts to come out of himself. This super sweet boy is going to be a fantastic, rewarding addition to the right family. Ronnie would do best in a quieter home with at least one other dog and no young children who might potentially frighten him.

TINY

Tiny is a 3 year old greyhound girl who was brought to us with her brother Toto to find their forever homes. Toto has since found his new family, but dear Tiny is still waiting patiently for hers. Tiny has never raced and has been handled nicely in the past. She is a beautiful brindle girl with bright eyes and a silky soft coat.

Tiny is a super little girl and we are amazed that she has been waiting so long (nearly a year) to find her perfect family. After the hard decision to split her and her brother up, we hope that Tiny will find her new family very soon.

Tiny with her bigger brother, Toto (now adopted).

~ Personality ~

Dear Tiny really is a joy to be around. She is friendly, confident and affectionate and absolutely loves being around people and other dogs. She is a happy, playful girl who enjoys romping around in the garden but is just as content to snooze the evenings away on the sofa while you watch the TV. Tiny loves her ear scratches and can be so very sweet natured. She really is a super little lady and whoever adopts her is sure to have a loyal friend for life.

~ Other Animals ~

Tiny is very good with other dogs and has had lots of practice in meeting them when out on walks. She shares her foster home with other dogs and, up until recently, with her brother Toto whom she got on very well with. She loves playing chase in the garden and greatly enjoys her toys. Tiny would do well in a home with other similarly minded dogs who would play her game.

~ In the Home ~

Tiny has been living in a foster home for over 6 months now, and is very well settled. She is just perfect in the home, it is hard to fault her. She is housetrained, not destructive and ok to be left with other dogs for company. She sleeps soundly and quietly through the night and is content with the routine of walk in the morning and snooze in the evening. She has no qualms sharing her space or toys with the other dogs in her foster home, and is in general an all-round star. This girl would be well suited to a range of home types. She would be a good girl for a first time hound owner as she is so centered and dependable. She would also be well suited to an active home with kids to play with her and even teach her some tricks. Tiny is a super little lass who is very flexible and accommodating.

~ Out and About ~

Tiny is just brilliant when out on her walks, she is a model hound. She greets everyone with a waggie tail and a sniff n’lick, and is very polite. She is used to seeing other dogs out on her walks and is very dog savvy. She walks neatly on the lead and rarely pulls. She is an active, inquisitive girl who really loves being out, and due to her fab personality she is no trouble at all. Tiny has taken part in Kerry Greyhound Connection group walks and meet-ups, and has been just super with the crowds of people and dogs. This girl really is no bother, and is a joy to have around.

Beautiful Tiny has been waiting an extremely long time for her forever home, and sadly could not find it with her brother Toto. It is through no fault at all of her own, and we dearly hope that she can look forward to finding her forever family in the very near future. This girl is very near to perfect and has oodles of love to give.
Betty is a smashing girlie with so much potential. She adores people but has a special spot for kids – she is extremely gentle and well behaved with the kids in her foster home. She is more confident than her brother and absolutely loves being out, greeting everybody. Betty is very curious about the world around her and quite adventurous. She is a typical puppy and is full of that lust for life and exuberance that only puppies possess. It’s going to be such a joy to show this happy-go-lucky girl the world around her.
~ Other Animals ~

Betty is brilliant with all the other animals she has met so far. She is dog and cat friendly, and even horse friendly! Betty loves racing around playing lurcher tag with the other dogs in her foster home. She is good with other dogs and, though play can get a bit boisterous at times, she does listen if the other dog tells her to stop. She is a very well behaved lady. Betty is sociable with the other cats in her foster home; though she might be spurred on to chase a very skittish kitty. This could be worked on with training if needed, and Betty responds well to tasty treats. We also recommend all puppies attend a dog training or socialising class as it’s a great opportunity for them to romp and play with other dogs, as well as learn some new commands.

~ In the Home ~

Betty and her brother Barney are currently being fostered in an outdoor kennel situation, so have not yet been in a home. New owners will need to be prepared to show them around the house and set some rules in place from day one. They may have a few accidents at the very start, but it’s worth noting that many housetrained dogs will have mistakes at the start too! It shouldn’t take too long to get this girlie in to a nice routine as she is so eager to please.

~ Out and About ~

Though still just a puppy, Betty walks fabulously on the lead and rarely pulls. In fact she is so mannered that a child could, and does, walk her! This girl is very responsive to training and might be a real star in the making for something like agility. Betty simply loves getting out and seeing the world. Because she is so well mannered, she is a joy to bring anywhere too. She often gets to go offlead on her fosterer’s land and it’s fun to see her running and chasing with the other dogs, then splashing about in the stream to cool down. Though still just a puppy with all that unlimited puppy energy, once Betty matures a bit she will be your typical lazy lurcher, content with a medium amount of exercise.

BARNEY

Meet the very beautiful Barney. He is a lurcher puppy who is approximately 5 months old. He was found as a malnourished stray in Ireland with his sister Betty and is now looking to make up for his poor start to life. Barney is currently being looked after by the SPCA in Ireland, and Kerry Greyhound Connection is helping to find him his new home. He is a very impressive lad with a dark brindle coat and it’s looking like he’s going to be a big boy!

~ Personality ~

Barney is such a lush big lad, and has come in in leaps and bounds since coming into rescue care. Barney is super social but also quite chilled in character with big ploddy paws. He is a big soft cuddlebum who loves attention and will do anything for a bit of fuss. Barney is not as outgoing as his sister Betty and is fine with allowing things to happen around him. He is not nervous or timid; he is simply very laid back. He is fabulous with people and animals and is very well mannered with the kids (aged 7 and 10) that he shares his foster home with. He listens to them very well and is so gentle around them.

~ Other Animals ~

Barney is excellent with other dogs, cats and even horses. It’s a big wide world out there for this lovely lad! He loves to play chase with other dogs, though sometimes doesn’t know his own size so may accidently flatten a small yorkie type dog! He is all paws and elbows at the moment and doesn’t yet have much coordination. He does respect other dogs, though, and accepts a telling off quite nicely. Barney would benefit from attending puppy training classes so that he can meet lots of other dogs and learn a few more commands.

~ In the Home ~

Like all puppies, Barney is still young and has a lot to learn. He is currently being fostered in an outdoor kennel with his sister, so has not yet experienced a home. New owners will need to be patient with him and teach him right from wrong from the very beginning. It may take a few days to get his housetraining sorted, but this boy is very eager to please and likes routine, so we don’t think it should take too long before he grasps the idea. With the right quota of training and love, Barney has the potential to blossom into a fabulously social, well balanced young hound who will make his owners so very proud.

~ Out and About ~

Barney is a dream to walk on the lead, so much so that despite his size, even the children in his foster home can happily walk him. His fosterers let him offlead on their land where there are no major roads nearby, and he is very content to stay with the family and romp with them. He doesn’t seem to be overly independent. He has some recall though this could always be sharpened up. Though quite full of energy right now, Barney is sure to grow into a big lounging lurcher boy who will be content with a medium amount of exercise.

Beautiful Bessie Rottweiler

Bessie is seven years old and has spent the last four months in kennels following the death of her elderly owner, whose family were not able to take her in. Bessie had been sold, along with her litter brother, on the proviso that should anything happen to the elderly man, the breeder would help rehome them. Unfortunately this has not happened. Bessie's brother was rehomed some time ago as the elderly owner could no longer cope with two dogs, so not only has she suffered the loss of her owner, but also her life-long companion. Bessie was not doing well in kennels, so has had a couple of foster homes where we have had the pleasure of seeing her become much happier.

Bessie is a very endearing dog; she is one of the cuddliest, most affectionate rotties we have known. She has a lovely sense of fun and some amusing quirks. She has mixed with children over the age of ten and has been perfectly behaved with them. She is fine with people of all ages, men and women and shows no aggression or wariness of people at all. Bessie has been living with five other rotties, three bitches and two dogs and was not problematic, although she can be bossy in the sense that she will try and control the movements of the other dogs, she doesn't push this though. She is now living with two male rotties and, again, there are no issues.

We do know that Bessie should not live with small dogs as she tends to chase them and we think that she wasn't socialised with breeds other than Rottweilers particularly well, as she is not always reliable with them. She does not bark or lunge but we have found that it is best to maintain distance from other breeds of dogs. Bessie does respond very well to training and we will be working on this and would anticipate that teaching Bessie a reliable 'leave it' when other dogs are present will help her.

Bessie is fine to be left over night and during the day; she relaxes and is happy spending time on her own. She enjoys playing with other dogs and goes to great lengths to engage the male Rottweilers she is currently living with in chasing games in the garden. She has a playful nature in general.

We are not aware of any health issues with Bessie. She was considerably overweight before going into kennels, but has now lost this weight. As she lived with an elderly man, she is not used to long walks, but does enjoy going out for short walks, and likes pottering around the garden. We believe that she has been spayed and will be inoculated and wormed.

Bessie deserves a permanent home where she will be the centre of someone's attention, with a comfy bed (or settee) to curl up on and an end to being moved around. It is a testament to her character that she has remained friendly and trusting. We would like Bessie to be either an only dog or have a steady male Rottweiler companion, where someone is going to invest time and attention in her and cherish her, as she really is a treasure.

Please pass these details around as we are hoping that Bessie will find the perfect place as soon as possible.

Bessie does not at present have support from a rescue charity or group. However, if something went wrong with any new home, we would take her back.

Please PM for contact details and for photos - it's proving impossible to get a photo to upload. Thank you for reading.

Samson

SAMSON

Meet the very stunning Samson. This boy is a 3 year old ex-racing greyhound boy. Samson has a beautiful blue tuxedo coat with big striking amber eyes. He is in lush condition with a satin soft coat that just begs to be stroked.

~ Personality ~

Samson is a lovely lively chap and is very friendly. He enjoys interacting with people and is always ready for another cuddle. This boy has lots of potential and is a real outgoing boy, greatly enjoying being out and about, seeing the world.

~ Other Animals ~

Samson is good with the other greyhounds in our kennels and absolutely loves getting to stretch his legs offlead with his other houndy mates. He has not been tested yet with smaller dogs or cats, but these can be carried out prior to adoption if required. Often ex-racing greyhounds need a bit of socialisation with smaller dog breeds as they would never have seen them before and at the start may not realise they are dogs!

[IMG]http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l114/Tamakin84/KGC%20Hounds/Samson1.jpg[/IMG]

 ~ In the Home ~

This dear boy has not yet been in a home environment, so new owners will need to be a bit understanding at the start and give him time to learn the house rules. It generally takes greyhounds 10-14 days to start to settle in a home, and really all they need is time and patience. This boy is very curious and is sure to love learning about all the sights, sounds and smells that occur in a home.

~ Out and About ~

Like most greyhounds, Samson will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week. He is a bit strong on the lead right now, but we are sure this will settle down once he is getting more regular daily exercise and play time.

Samson is currently in kennels in Norfolk, UK. He can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to meet and collect him.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~

Samson is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This dear boy would benefit so very much from a chance to live in a foster home and Kerry Greyhound Connection is always eager for new foster volunteers. It is an extremely rewarding experience and costs are covered by us.

If you are interested in adopting or short-term fostering Samson, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs. Thanks!

DESTINY

Destiny is a 2 year old ex-racing greyhound girl. She is a dainty girl with a very long, elegantly shaped nose that gives her a very regal appearance. Once her coat improves and gets some shine to it, she’s going to be just beautiful.

~ Personality ~

Destiny is a friendly little girl with a waggy tail for everyone who comes and visits her. She enjoys people and is going to relish the home life so much. Destiny has just come to us so we are still assessing her. She will soon be placed in a foster home which will allow us to get a much better idea of her wonderful little personality.

~ Other Animals ~

Destiny has so far been well behaved with all the other dogs she has met, regardless of size or gender. She is a playful little girl and we’re sure there’s a cheeky streak hidden in there somewhere! Destiny would do well in a home with another similarly aged dog to keep her company and drain any excess energy. She has not been tested with cats yet but we will be doing this shortly.

~ In the Home ~

Little Destiny has just moved in to a foster home now, and we will be updating with her progress once she has a bit of time to adjust to the changes – this is her first time in a home. New owners will need to be a bit patient during the first couple of weeks and allow her time to settle into the home. It generally takes 10-14 days for new greyhounds to start to settle down in a home, and really all they need is a bit of time and patience.

~ Out and About ~

Destiny loves being out and about, and enjoys her walks. Like most greyhounds, Destiny will not need a huge amount of exercise. She will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch her legs offlead in a secure area once or twice a week.

Destiny is currently being fostered in Norfolk, UK. She can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to her foster home to meet and collect her.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~

Destiny is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you are interested in adopting Destiny, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Emails are usually replied to within 24hrs. Thanks!

Jensen

JENSEN

Jensen is a 4 year old ex-racing greyhound boy who was retired from the track after a successful racing career. He is a lovely black boy with a distinguished, greying face. Dear Jensen was homed in the summer, but has sadly had to come back to us now due to a change in his owner’s work hours which meant he was being left for longer periods of time. He has also had half his tail removed after an injury, though he still wags it at every opportunity!

Jensen is a lovely, friendly chap who was well cared for during his racing career. As such he adores being around people and has a genial, laid back nature. He also absolutely loves his home comforts and is content to snooze most of the day away on his bed, though preferably will snooze on yours! He is used to living in a home, is housetrained and is ok to be left with another dog for company.

Jensen was initially very interested in small dogs, having never seen them before in his life. He has calmed down a lot over the past few months, however, and is now much more dependable around them. He can still get overly keen if the other dogs are in an excited state or are running around him, and we would recommend he be muzzled as a precaution when offlead. He would also greatly benefit from attending some dog training or socialising classes so he can get used to seeing many different sized dogs. If introduced to other dogs in a slow, calm way, Jensen is a well-mannered dog. He is not cat friendly.

Jensen is a doddle to walk on the lead and rarely pulls. He is used to busy traffic and is quite steady when out, not usually getting spooked by noisy areas. Like most greyhounds, Jensen is also a total couch potato and does not need a huge amount of exercise. He will be content with two 30min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch his legs offlead in a safe area once or twice a week.

Jensen was sharing his previous home with his friend Lucas, who has also been returned to us. Ideally we would love to find these two boys a home together as they enjoy each other’s company, but we will consider all home offers and can home them separately if it works out that way. This dear boy would be best suited to a relatively quiet home with no young children and another greyhound buddy to keep him company during the day.

Jensen is currently in kennels in Norfolk, UK. This dear boy really doesn’t like kennels and we would love to find him a foster home while he waits for his new forever home to come his way. He can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet/collect him. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you are interested in adopting or short-term fostering Jensen, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our adoption application form and information pack. Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs. Thanks!

I'm afraid I only have sketchy info on this from my son in law..someone at his work is trying to find a home for a black and tan dobe bitch pup, four months old, and deaf. She is fully inoculated. The pup is in Swindon. If anyone is interested, I would be able to get a phone number. Nothing wanted for her, but a donation to Dobermann Rescue would be appreciated.

Jasper @ Essw

Jasper
Age: 7.5
Sex: Male
Location: East Devon
Can be Re-homed With Children: Maybe Teenagers
Can be Re-homed with Dogs: Yes
can be Re-homed with Cats: Unknown
Neutered: Yes
Vaccinated: Yes
Microchipped: Yes
Tail: Long

Jasper is a very handsome and much loved springer. He is looking for a home where he will get lots of exercise and even more importantly a lot of mental stimulation. Jasper's new home must have a totally secure garden which he could not escape from. In the past he has managed to get out of the garden and that's where all his problems have started. He has a very boisterous temperament and when he escaped he charged up to children passing by and frightened them.

Jasper has also shown a certain amount of resource guarding around a bone. When approached by a child whilst he was feeding on the bone he nipped the child. These issues would be fairly easy to resolve by not letting Jasper get into a situation where he felt the need to guard food or territory.

In the house Jasper is extremely affectionate and loves fuss and attention. He would make a wonderful companion for someone with experience and patience to help him overcome his issues. Ideally he would be suited to a home with older children. He has grown up with two girls who are now teenagers and who adore him.

His co-ordinator has said: In the right hands Jasper would make a super dog with masses of affection to give.

If you would like to offer Jasper a new forever home, please contact his coordinator Heidrun: http://www.essw.co.uk/#/contact-us/4531488534
